  1. That had to be one of the best moments of that host’s life. That dumb cunt goes “it’s hard to explain in a 15 second sound bite”, and the host goes “oh we have more time” LMAO feed me that shit by the bowlful nom nom nom nom nom. I love watching idiots realize they are fucking idiots in real time, regardless of which side of the aisle they are on.
  2. Hyundais don’t offer it, even on the top of the line trim of their 3rd row SUV. Apparently it wasn’t a feature she thought about. She also looked at Honda Pilots and Volkswagen Atlas and they both offer it.
  3. Except that is not at all the extent of the fallout. If SVB’s uninsured depositors would have been forced to wait until the assets were liquidated (likely months) then thousands of businesses would close, and tens if not hundreds of thousands of people would lose their jobs. And that’s assuming it isn’t a contagion that spreads to other banks.
  4. Update on my wife’s car shopping. She ended up paying MSRP with no markup but they essentially forced her to pay extra for window tint and some clear coat bullshit that cost 2 grand. Whatever. The bigger issue is that when she first started shopping, I told her, since you are looking for a bigger car, you need to measure to make sure it’ll fit in the garage. She gets the new car home and guess fucking what. Now every time she pulls into the garage she has to stop, get out, and fold in the mirrors. And even with that there’s maybe 3 inches to spare on each side. I’m sure this will end well.
  5. Are we talking best value? Most cumulative impact? Most immediate impact? I would nominate Charlie Morton. He put up probably $60M worth of value in his 2 seasons and I don’t think the stros win that WS without him.
  6. SVB was already allowed to fail. They’re not being bailed out. The only talk now is whether or not to make the uninsured depositors whole, either thru govt management of SVB’s former assets or thru selling SVB to a larger bank. And if you’re suggesting SVB’s depositors be “allowed to fail”, then what do you propose be done with all of SVBs assets?
  7. There are a shitload of companies in Austin that had their money in SVB and won’t make payroll next week if FDIC isn’t able to figure out a way to grant access to uninsured funds. I personally know 3 heads of accounting/finance in that situation. These are super healthy cash-flush companies, just has their money all in one place (the wrong place). Could be really bad. Really hoping the govt comes through.
  8. I suppose the only part that really gets to me is that they call them “loyalty” points, when anyone can literally just buy them and step in front of longer term supporters. That’s like, the opposite of loyalty.
  9. Tucker is an extremely good player who will likely put up an MVP caliber season or two over the next 5 years. But he’s probably not a hall of fame player and he isn’t all that rare in terms of skill set. 30/30 RF come along every few years. But they are prone to age like anyone and they start lower on the defensive spectrum than guys who play up the middle. As good as he is and as much as I love watching him play for the Astros, he’s not the guy I want them signing for 10 years $350M. If Correa had a better track record for health, he would have been a good candidate for that. If Tucker is truly intent on maxing out his next contract, let him walk. You can do 5 Javier level extensions for 1 of what Tucker appears to be demanding. Best I can recall, 7 years would be the longest contract in franchise history. So offer Tucker $210M/7 and if he doesn’t bite don’t sweat it.
  10. I have been a season ticket holder since 2007. I pay only the price for the tickets. Last year my seats got moved (downgraded from north end zone to southeast corner). The price has continually gone up. The increase this year was in the face of a much worse home schedule compared to last year. I enjoy the games but eventually they will break me. I understand they are only increasing my price because there are other people willing to pay more, which is surprising considering how crummy our teams have been over the last 12 years. I wish loyalty was worth something but am not surprised they don’t value it.
  11. At 6’4” 230 wtf is he not playing baseball. And if he’s going to play football why is he not a DE. All his highlights are at OT.
  12. David Letterman seemed pretty sincere when he told Will Ferrell that he felt the dart scene in Old School was the funniest movie scene he’d ever seen. It’s fucking perfect. Mullet Stifler. The delayed realization by Ferrell. The sideswipe hand swat of that kids head.
  13. The dart scene is my favorite comedy scene of all time.
  14. I was in Debo’s pigeon coop, sweatin like a slave. My mama had to come get me out. That’s why I be like “fuck Hector”.
  15. Congrats. I have hit the number that I targeted when I first started adulthood and made plans to retire early, but my priorities have shifted since having kids. Between that, lifestyle creep, and inflation, I will likely be working another ~10 years and only retire 10-15 years earlier than normal. The fear of being unable to re-enter the workforce after sitting out for years if things go poorly also has played into my plans more as I get older. The upside to that is that I should have far more wealth than I ever imagined I would and will have options to have/do some things I would have had to sacrifice had I retired now. But knowing that technically I could likely get by forever without working has lifted a great weight off my shoulders over the last couple of years, so I have no regrets over the sacrifices I made as a young person to accumulate the wealth I have so far.
  16. Negged for either being disingenuous or so fucking stupid you cant even read your own comments. When you say “of those people” referring only to the 50% of the board who are gun owners, you’re adding a qualifier that wasn’t in the comment I responded to. You can say silly shit like I’m in an echo chamber or I just like smelling my own farts, but I assumed you’d figured out by now that you and I are from the same home town, our social circles in real life overlap, and we were raised with similar worldviews. I’m regularly exposed to all the same idiotic right wing shit you are. I just don’t swallow it.
  17. Go back and look at your quote. You didn’t say “owners”. You just said “of this board”. If you misspoke and meant to say “of the owners on this board”, that is on you.
  18. Let’s run with this hypothetical. Let’s say Millenial Kid does a 180 and starts saving all his Uber Eats money, eating ramen and peanut butter instead, and actually socks away $800 each month ($9600/yr). How long do you think it would take him to save the $30,000-$60,000 he would need to make a down payment on his first home in Austin? The math is pretty simple and it doesn’t even need to account for the added long term cash flow implications of home ownership. Uber Eats is not the fucking problem.
  19. Near 80% of private school students attend a school affiliated with a religion. You think their #1 priority is academics?
  20. Do you actually think more than 95% of the posters on this board even own one single “shortarm”?
