  1. We actually are doing that too so glad you agree on that stop....but since we are close by and staying at friends cabin in Mammoth for a few days, we started considering adding DVNP. Luckily this can be last second addition (or cancelation) due to fact that it would be a one day drive by with no hotel required. Is it worth crossing off one more national park? Hmmmmm
  2. Loving the Mala Sichuan addition. Hope the flavor isn't diluted by their growth.
  3. We will be in Yosemite and then Mammoth in late June. Death Valley National Park is close by and we have an extra day to swing by, checking off a National Park. Anyone ever been there during the summer? How horrible an idea is it to drive around the park for the day in late June?
  4. I spend a lot of time near Ellinger and agree on Hruska's. Double cheeseburger hits the spot.
  5. I'll be at FIRE at 52 if the current stench of market just gets to even like 5-6%. Anyways, I already have list of jobs I want after I make the move. Working at a bakery at minimum wage for a few months to learn that skill is at top of list. Something culinary -ish is 2nd. Mechanic or something in that vain is third. I value learning skills that I want to have far more than money* *easy to say after I continue to do something I feel blah about for 5 more long years in order to have X amount of said money that I supposedly don't value much

You just reminded me that I have found a similar--or better--replacement for all my favorite Austin restaurants (of all types) except one....Juan in a Million. I have yet to find something like that in Houston that hits the same for me and my tastes. On another note, I don't live in burbs but the last two times I've tried Gringos, I've been pleasantly surprised. Maybe having no expectations helps?
  7. Makes total sense. I'm confused by folks who posture and hate on UT's current recruitment but then hate on the strategy that currently proves most effective to getting any player we want (proverbial Whataburger bags a la aggies). Pick a lane. Now, if you said we are playing the long game and we should completely understand losing players now while we build up our foundation and do it the right way, that makes total sense to me---win in long run and dont worry as much about short term results. I don't agree with it.....but it is at least consistent. But mixing the hating on short term results with hating on the very effective short run solutions does not compute in my simple mind.
  8. I've been to 3/4 of South and Central America. To me, no dinner on earth beats an Argentinian Bife de Ojo with a gallon or two of chimichurri on the side. And for breakfast, nothing in world beats a Central American breakfast. The tipico in any country is fantastic when done right. For lunch, I'll go American (bbq or cheeseburger). Sorry europe and Asia, you come in 2nd place in various categories.
  9. As the great philosopher Dalton said....opinions vary. And my opinion after hitting up the fine establishments in Lockhart various times is that taking away nostalgia, Kruetz is below Rudy's in taste. Ps. That is not a compliment to Rudy's.
  10. I remember having class with Leonard Davis and looking past his size and backpack--that looked like a tiny nap sack on a regular person--and just wanted him to learn humanities as a student first and foremost. As long as he got an A, that's all that mattered. Did I do that right as a high and mighty Longhorn fan since we clearly believe when coaches speak this student-first bullshit and clearly believe NIL needs to be done the "honorable" way? Or do I not really care about their student experience and whether NIL is as pure as the driven snow but maybe gives us enough rings that you can't turn door knobs? And I don't mean those sweet Alamo Bowl championship rings. Hmmm.....someone come help me open this door.
  11. How dare you forget those 18 hours on Jan 5, 2006 when this place was Xanadu

That tater casserole and corn pudding is too good to pass up. Go big or go home

Truth 2-meat combo with soda is $32. I go there a decent amount and it is living right on the edge of the absurd-amount-for-lunch category. Excellent but that's getting nuts.
  14. We are the dude who bought dinner and opened the doors all night for our hot date.....she hugs us at the door and tells us how nice we are and what a great date that was. 10 minutes later, she texts some other dude to come over and bone her. "But he didn't treat her right" is what we would cry at home, wanker in hand.
  15. Exactly. If our billionaires outbid their billionaires, our coaching staff would be best recruiting staff in nation. Instead, we play by different rules than reality and then are schocked when we lose a recruit or aggies dominate us in this game. Sadly, for as much as we rightfully make fun of aggies, they were ahead of game and ahead of us. We are stuck defending why this isnt real NIL.
  16. We did Jackson Hole and Yellowstone last summer, staying inside park for a few days. Going to Hayden Valley and seeing all wildlife at dusk is a must. Saw all kinds of wildlife while drinking wine. What to bring if you stay in park? Binoculars and low expectations on quality of food at restaurants.
  17. Same with Andes Cafe. Been a few times and haven't walked away disappointed
  18. Just went to buy new F150 and they only had a few new ones. I wanted a dark exterior with leather seats, nothing off the beaten path. They told me they could order it and that I can get it at end of the year. I asked why would I get a 2022 right when 2023 trucks are rolling out and he just shrugged and said he had no answers to things this year. You basically have to want color combo onsite or not get new truck in 2022.
  19. Because we all firmly believe Cade Brewer is going to find a 7th year to highly impress coaches in practice.
  20. Great philosophy.....what kind is that? I like seeing snakes at our ranchito but still can't identify worth shit. Also, how did you kill it?
  21. Just finished and worth a watch for sure. Tall dude (not Merchant) had some funny lines
  22. You only see the lemons. I see how much better our passing yards allowed per game were than our rushing yards allowed per game. Lemonade out of lemons with that dominant top 60 performance. Show me a loss.
  23. I usually agree with your opinion so this only means one thing: you haven't tried this sandwich.
  24. Crunchy chicken sandwich at Local Foods is best sandwich in Houston. Bring it.
