  1. Some folks with an 8 year old coming into town and want to take son to NASA. Haven't been in 35 years. Is it worth it to go with a family? If so, any recs?I
  2. Was also in Charleston this summer with my family and glad I had sunglasses so my eyes were concealed. Hot ass was not being concealed.
  3. Plan E now because only one tier and never did a brisket. I think fine option for ribs and chicken but seems unwieldy for brisket and other long cooks where you have to mess with coals. Oh well, wanted to pitch in for the cause
  4. I am 50/50 on going but even if I dont, I have a backup option for you. I have one of those knockoff eggs that still works just fine. I’m upgrading soon after 7 years and happy to give it to y’all and you can just leave it in Alabama. It’s standard size so might be too small for your desires but I’ve made lots of delicious ribs and chicken on it. Anyways, giving you plan D as the floor.
  5. Agreed and if you don't believe papa, watch this.
  6. I recently got a nest and am wondering what is normal in a heat wave like right now in Texas. I’m in Houston and unit runs between 20 and 21 hours a day. Y’all know your usage per day? We live in a 7 year old house that seems/seemed well insulated and have it at 73 at night and 76 during day. this summer just feels different to my wife and I. Seems like it’s working harder and just can’t keep up. Got ac serviced and dude said all good so we are a bit puzzled. I wish we had bought Nest before this summer.
  7. I’m a few shows into Deadloch and enjoying it so far.
  8. So how is the Belly Burger? Menu looks delish and loaded tots be calling me.
  9. My wife and I went to Costco Bunker Hill and at self check-out, I decided to go to bathroom. It’s my card and she got denied even after telling them I’m just taking a piss. Had to let one person ahead of her and wait on me so they are getting strict about it apparently.
  10. @DalTxHornFan been wanting to cook one of these….how much did this cost and did you have to order it ahead of time?
  11. Currently in Tuscaloosa eating breakfast on way back from road trip. I will check in a bit to see if visiting locker room has air conditioning. And I’ll be back in September too.
  12. Southern Grit in Knoxville had fantastic fried chicken. Delicious lunch.
  13. Why fake the funk? I go two ear buds in and let them go all they can eat Taylor Swift. Ps I’ve heard her so much since her concert in Houston that I’m a Swiftie now, don’t hate as it’s called Stockholm Syndrome. Help me.
  14. Knocked out three Smartless (headphones) and one family podcasts (Stuff you should know) on our drive from Portsmouth NH to Bar Harbor Maine. Great recs so keep them coming for everyone else......plus we have our return trip to Houston.
  15. Skip the Sisi on your trip to Vienna fo sure. We went to Bratislava as a last minute suggestion told to us by someone in Vienna and loved slovakia but reading 956 makes me wish we did countryside. I have very few specifics to help anyone other than that we enjoyed Slovakia. Munich and Czech and Krakow were also on this trip and we drank a lot so don’t remember most restaurant names. I did have drinks with a very old Nazi at the Hofbreau house. He was by himself and coincidentally sat by us. He and his buddies have/had been drinking there since 1950 and he was last one alive and still goes there. He became Russian POW and was not freed until 1950 or something. He didn’t deny holocaust but said average nazi soldier never saw that stuff.
  16. You must have gone on National Pancake Day because there were lots and lots of fat scooter people last week. To balance it out, we’re in Portsmouth New Hampshire now and haven’t seen one obese person nor a scooter here. While I’m thinking about it, haven’t seen a Waffle House either.
  17. We are on massive road trip with a 13 and 7 year old. Any recommendations for story-driven family podcasts that are 30 min long to hold attention? We have covered made it out alive podcasts but at 45-60 minutes long, great for us but 7 year old couldn't hang for that long. Hell, I'd like to hear other recs for podcasts even if long too now that I'm typing this out.
  18. Just went to MK and epcot. Tron is legit but short. GoG ride is also great. It's hot and tiring experience but for kids, gotta do it. I would never pay money to go myself but since you're doing it for family, you can choose to be angry or try to have fun and it's much better to just change mindset. Standby skipper is key. It basically gave us VIP experience without the cost as we always had Lightning Lanes waiting for us so we didn't wait in line anywhere really....But did have to traverse park various times and luckily our 13 and 7 year old didn't care (30,000 daily steps). Tron LL pass was additional $80 for our family of 4, fyi, but bypass virtual queue of an hour. Food sucks at MK so be prepared to eat weak cafeteria food. Epcot food (and alcohol) way better. Can't believe number of fat people in electric scooters at parks. Can't believe number of families I saw arguing with each other. Told my wife we are so lucky to not be paying a bunch of money to be miserable.
  19. Leon and Granada are cool. Hiking volcanoes near Leon and hooking up with Germans there (lot of europeans) is recommended.
  20. So I might have had too much and driven my atv into a tree. Wasn't going that fast, probably 10 mph at time. Anyways, go to trade it in for a 2023 model and the Polaris dealer wouldnt take it because of a bent frame and wouldn't fix it even though it wasnt too bad. Just walked to a body shop in Houston and they said they wouldn't fix an atv frame, only cars. Has anyone ever fixed a bent frame before on their atv? If so, how/where?
  21. When are people here in Central Texs planning to extract honey for first time? Imagine with early wildflower bloom this year might mean earlier extraction? I'm a novice so wtf do I know. I do know my hives are bumpin'. So crowded that I put one honey super on the overloaded hive ( without a queen excluder) and am putting honey supers on my other two hives this weekend. I know not what I do, forgive me.

Guessing you are Surly 1%er and buy your laundry detergent at Target instead of the back of a pickup truck in bulk size? Didn't see it on your shopping list.

Finally tried B&R due Surly rec. Very delicious but I wouldn't make that drive again with Truth and Pinkertons closer to me. Glad I went though just to scratch that itch.

I have. It is slightly above average. Little better than Rudy's.
  25. Our Blackstone at the country house had a mice family living on it....nest, shit, and all. Welcome surprise that was. My plan to sterilize it is to turn up heat for a long time and just pour water on it and let it boil/evaporate various times. Any other suggestions?
