One thing that will be interesting to look back once this is all done is the wildcard event of Covid and how it may have greatly influenced these major historical events. Putin was planning this invasion for quite a while but even dictators are subservient to worldwide health epidemics. Whatever timetable he had in mind the pandemic had to be a big hindrance. Plus the disruption to American lives contributed directly to public sentiment souring on Trump and ultimately his bid for reelection. If Covid didn't hit then Trump may have pulled off the reelection and been in the driver's seat whenever Putin finally decided to pull the trigger. The whole sequence of events could have played out quite drastically different. So many what ifs but the timing of a single event may have had longterm consequences similar to maybe when the Divine Winds saved Japan from the Mongol invasions in the 13th century.

Russian police work superior to USA police work. It takes us a good week to nab a Luigi while the Russians already found their killer with a full confession in 24 hours. Amazing!

CEO of UHG Shot and Killed in NYC - WTF is wrong with you New York
dimyh replied to Bevo's topic in Daily Texan
So basically the risk/reward ratio is not close to equal. The denial strategy pays off in the billions but the risk for penalties only pay in the millions makes it an easy equation. I have been fortunate in not having to deal too much with medical situations but as I get older this definitely weighs on me. Been hoping for some type of reform for quite a while...maybe this could be the catalyst for someone on either side of the political spectrum to take the initiative. Seems like an easy win to garner all that public love if they could start aggressively advocating for healthcare reform. -

Moving past whether to condone outright assassination attempts is morally acceptable or not...my question is for the Surly legal brigade. If UHC employs a tactic to delay and deny coverage because patients will die first before they can win an appeal does that open them up for potential civil lawsuits? If the families could prove that the failure in coverage directly led to death wouldn't that open up for a windfall in penalties? Just wondering if hitting them in the pocketbooks could be more effective in beating back that corporate greed. Why isn't that happening? Explain it to me like I'm a third grader. -
Damn, I severely underestimated the Russian manufacturing capacity. If they can build a wooden chair to support that Seagal fatass then they could easily refurbish some T-34s into withstanding direct HIMARS hits.

Medusa reporting that the new 2025-2027 budget proposal by the Kremlin is projecting 41% of federal spending to go directly for defense/military. They are sweating public opinion and trying to figure out how to spin this shit stroganoff to the masses. https://meduza.io/en/feature/2024/10/02/it-could-become-a-trigger-fearing-public-discontent-the-kremlin-tells-russian-state-media-not-to-report-on-its-defense-spending-hike

Interesting news...the richest woman in Russia, Tatyana Bakalchuk, is going through a divorce. Which means in Russia her soon to be ex decides to storm her office and gets in a shootout killing at least two. Basically it is gang vs gang fight as each side's security detail gets in a brawl before bringing out the hardware. Exciting to see the oligarchs starting to rip into each other. Can't wait for the next episode of this Russian telenovela. https://meduza.io/en/feature/2024/09/18/gunfire-breaks-out-in-moscow-as-wildberries-ceo-claims-husband-led-raid-attempt-on-company-s-central-office

Someone else pointed out this RT blurb back in 2018: oropets /Tver region/, June 2. /TASS/. The arsenal of complex storage of missiles, ammunition and explosives constructed in the city of Toropets of the Tver region meets the highest international standards. This was stated on Saturday to journalists by Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Dmitry Bulgakov, who is on a working trip to the troops of the Western Military District to check the progress of construction of military infrastructure. “Arsenal allows to hide stockpiles of missiles and ammunition from external influence and ensure their safety and fire safety. The full load of each storage of the arsenal is up to 240 tons, ”said the deputy head of the military department. That is the same General Dmitry Bulgakov who was arrested and imprisoned in 2022 due to corruption charges...

Regarding the US weapons restrictions: 1) Ukraine should have been cleared for full use ages ago. 2) Once they are cleared, the only notification we should have provided is watching Ruskie shit blowing up and down the map while Putin screams "WHAT THE FUCK" into his 1995 speaker phone. No advanced notification, no big warning, just a big helping of FAFO for them to chew on.

Quote fail...delete previous msg. Just trying to share article corroborating Miller's info. Forbes article discusses some of the drone tech advantage on the Kursk front. That allowed them to get the drop on the Ruskies. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidhambling/2024/08/09/ukraines-kursk-offensive-blitzed-russia-with-electronic-warfare-and-drones/
