  1. Just got my first jab of Pfizer at BS&W. Currently waiting the 15 mins to see if my body rejects the new microchips.
  2. Disappointed with the 2nd episode. Fight scene was sloppy with Bucky jumping on the lead truck bypassing any surprise since he was in plain view of the 2nd truck. Then the rest of the baddies just magically show up on top. Just not well put together or executed. Then the buddy hero angle is just too forced. The psychiatrist treating them as a couple, while a bit funny, is just way too silly at this point in the show. Maybe if the shrink had a smart remark or two to build up that angle then lead into a shared counseling in episode 4 the payoff would have been better and more believable. I AM interested in these characters. Really would like to see how Falcon functions as black American superhero. We have Nick Fury (who is more of an enigmatic figurehead) and not much else in the MCU (and maybe Monica Rambeau down the line). Sam is more the man of the people and it would be great to see how he handles being an icon of the black community. We already see his struggle of taking up the mantle of the red white and blue. As for Bucky there are so many different areas they can go into. Mental detox from his Winter Soldier demons. His loss of his best bud, the real Cap. His man out of time routine being the guy from a different era. As a comic book nerd I never read too much of the Cap America stories so I don't know too much about these characters. Which is why its all a bit fresh for me and still keeps me interested. Hopefully the show can turn it around some.
  3. Suns out and it is melting in the DFW! Went outside to clear a way to my water cutoff in case I have anything unexpected in the next day or so. Also got up a ladder to clear as much as my roof as possible. Still got one big bank I couldn't reach. Hopefully it can melt away without finding some sneaky paths under the roof.
  4. Almost the same here. Been up a total of 4 hrs today...2hrs early morning and rest finished up a few mins ago. Actually had enough time to get some work done and upper mgmt finally made call to shut down office for rest of the week. Which is great for one of my guys who was worried about trying to commute from FW to Richardson. No need for him to risk all of that.
  5. Annnnnnd I'm out too. Lasted about 30 mins. At least got my interior temp up to 70, got something warm to eat, and got my phone charge off of death row. Hunkering down for the night. Stay warm erebody!
  6. Hallelujah got power! Been down for 8 hrs. Plugging stuff in and trying to microwave something warm to eat before it crashes out again.
  7. Power still out and I just saw somebody just drive down my street in a dune buggy. Its turning into a really strange remake of Mad Max Frozen Road.
  8. Carrollton reporting in. Powers gone out twice but no more than a total of an hour. Inside faucets still dripping but haven't the courage to check on the outside spigot. I've got them all covered and going to ride or die with Team No Drip. Snow looks beautiful though and just had my first pedestrian walk by with a big fat Starbuck's cup.
  9. Gagreed. But if they went with a full CGI young Balki that would have been a shock and awe moment opening a wormhole into awesomeness.
  10. Omigosh that is terrible. Heart goes out to you and your family.
  11. My current boss is not retiring but is being promoted (rightly so) and I will be reporting to someone new in 2021. Bummed because he has been one of the best managers I've worked with in my career. He has had to deal with a lot: first year in new company, new service line, Covid craziness, and because my direct manager at the time died from a massive heart attack back in Jan which we never backfilled. So lots of scrambling throughout the year as we figured out each other's work style. So waiting to see the announcement for his replacement which will be my 6th mgr in the past 5 years. My crew is pretty self sufficient but its definitely wearing to have to engage with a brand new lead so often. By the time you get them up to speed on processes and issues they are on that revolving door.
  12. Fuck. You. Trump. I'm 47 years old and voted in my first presidential election. Normally I'm apolitical and apathetic to this whole process but I had to get off my couch and vote against this asshole. He is one of the biggest frauds ever foisted upon the American public. I have been embarrassed for the past 4 years that this narcissist windbag has been the face of America. Finally his day has come and it is such relief that we no longer have to put up with his bullshit. I'm so happy right now, its almost as good as 4th and 5. Hook'em and God Bless America
  13. "Hey Pops how was your day?" "Not bad. Got a few dingers. Pissed some blood. What'd your pansy-ass do all day?" "Uhhh...justed posted some stuff on the internets." "Pfffff...kids these days. Hey I gotta put cancer in a headlock for next couple of days. Take care of your ma and make sure she stays open for business." Hey S. Austin wishing you all the best and expecting him to be crackin' coldies with you in no time.
  14. Damn what a loss. Not only a great talent but appeared to be a real stand up guy.
  15. Damn some real strong winds there. Kid in yellow is still trying to keep his castanets from clacking.
  16. First it was bats, now its bunnies, still all of it coming from China. Thanks Jinping! https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3980960 Novel bunyavirus re-emerges in China, kills seven Tick-borne disease transmitted person to person, more than 60 reportedly hospitalized in China so far this year 110 By Ching-Tse Cheng, Taiwan News, Staff Writer 2020/08/05 15:15 Health experts say tick-borne bunyavirus capable of human-to-human transmission. (Wikipedia photo) TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A highly pathogenic, tick-borne novel bunyavirus has reportedly re-emerged in China, hospitalizing more than 60 people and killing seven. According to CNA, a 65-year-old tea farmer in the Chinese province of Jiangsu recently fell ill with a fever of 40 degrees Celsius and a constant cough. After being sent to the Jiangsu People's Hospital, she was diagnosed with Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS), which is caused by the Huaiyangshan banyangvirus and characterized by a drop in blood platelets. The hospital said the woman was the 37th SFTS patient it has received this year. Meanwhile, several other Chinese provinces have reported similar cases this year, with Anhui being the most affected, confirming 23 patients and five deaths since April. Last November, Taiwan confirmed its first-ever SFTS case. The patient, a man in his 70s, developed a fever and experienced severe vomiting. He had no recent history of international travel but frequently went hiking in the mountains, according to Liberty Times. First discovered in China in 2010, the novel bunyavirus can be transmitted person-to-person and has a fatality rate of 10 percent, according to the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The incubation period of SFTS is 7 to 14 days, and common symptoms include fever, fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, and decreased appetite. Since tick bites are the virus' primary vector of transmission, the CDC advises the Taiwanese public to avoid wearing shorts in tall grass, wooded areas, and other environments where ticks are likely to be found. It also pointed out that there are currently no antiviral drugs for SFTS but that with efficient treatment, the mortality rate can be minimized, reported New Talk. Chinese provinces (in orange) reporting cases of SFTS this year.
