  1. I'm wondering the same. I haven't heard from anyone I know that has tried it. He's hanging out at Wild Acre brewery on the weekends. i haven't done a lot of bbq these last couple of months (was in marathon training). When I did, I was going to Panther City BBQ and Dayne's Craft BBQ. Still trying to sync up my schedule for a Brix BBQ pop up. I've heard a lot of good things about Brix. And I'm hoping Flores BBQ starts up in April/May.
  2. isn't the pizza at Partons thin and crispy? I dont want some totinos bullshit. and I went panther city bbq last week. it was good, but not what i remembered from my first trip a while back. there was a shit ton of pepper on the brisket, i don't remember the pepper being caked on like that. And just to be picky, the brisket was sliced super thick. the sausage and ribs were were equally as good. I also went with the sliced pork belly, don't waste your time on it.
  3. Pikes Peak Ascent is on my WANT list. Looks like hella fun while being brutal. The ultrarunning couple that is my bro in law and wife moved to Evergreen last summer, so it would be pretty convenient.
  4. I have nothing to contribute, but did read about this www.bigbend100.com
  5. Thanks hrm! sorry to hear about the kiddo. I noticed during the kids 5k on Sat, both my hamstrings felt a little tight. I rolled them out afterward with some relief. But I just attributed it to the carb loading and some of the extra sodium I was taking. I felt very confident a sub 4 should be no problem, but we know how that shit goes. I was very mindful of my pace, focusing on getting to 10 comfortably. Then getting through the next 10, slowing a little if I felt like I needed to. Then seeing what happens the last 6. i told my self to chill on the inclines, I'll get it back on the down. From the very beginning my left hamstring just seemed tight, but not where I felt the need to slow down. All was pretty much to plan up to 20. After 19 i knew the slight wind would be in my face all the way to the finish, i was preparing mentally, or so i thought. Mile 20-22 was not as kind i was hoping, but wasn't horrendous. The short inclines through Colonial hills, around mile 22, just beat me up and my quads didn't appreciate the downward side either. At this point I wanted to get to 25 with some reserves, I did not want to limp in to the finish. Its all flat after 23, the last half mile to the finish is a small slight uphill battle. I was slower from 23 to 25 than I wanted but I was really feeling it, soreness, heat, breeze. At mile 25 I just told myself I gotta go. I believe I did the last mile in 8:37, to squeeze in for a 3:58.
  6. Yes. but i only get their meat sticks. I usually pass on kolache's. BUT i always get cinnamon rolls from czech stop. Cinnamon rolls at gerik's are monstrous, or at least i think its gerik's that has the big ass cinnamon rolls.
  7. well damn... its been a few months. been frequenting poke poke, the handroll place, oni and tokyo cafe. maybe soon, i've been on a pork bao buns kick.
  8. I'm still trying to make my way to the food hall. For a while, I was hitting up rodeo goat and oni frequently. I did like the handroll sushi place, but still prefer going to Little Lily for my sushi fix. I need to check out the hype of Hurts Donuts and Dwell Biscuits (over by TCU). I highly recommend poke poke on magnolia, they took over the bentleys hot dog spot.
  9. Cane Rosso does the same thing in Fort Worth, with brisket from Heim BBQ. Might be called the Heimy Bastard. Also, Swiss Pastry in Fort Worth will make a klobasnik with brisket from Heim.
  10. With fort worth and san antonio, she has made $300,000. Her brother made some coin a few years as well.
  11. Hrm, dude you are logging serious miles, at a pace I cant even run hard at. I thought u might be going after a full. Jet is killing it too, lots of peeps on here are doing well. After ptfs and pes anserinus - (runners knee) back in Oct, I took it easy with PT. I knew I wanted a spring marathon, but didnt want to travel to Austin or san antonio if I couldn't run well. So I went ahead and signed up for the hometown (fort worth) marathon, the cowtown. Not a fan of the route, but the start/finish is two miles from the house. I'm still chasing the sub 4 marathon. Previous training data said it was to happen, but I believe a poor nutrition strategy was my demise. I'm a heavy sweater and I either bonk or cramp after mile 22. Plan is to take an energy gel every 30 mins and a salt tablet. Been practicing this in a few of my long runs.
  12. No shit, make the appointment. Looks like Lou Lambert got Flores Barbecue to move up to Fort Worth. Trailer coming first, then a building by Jan 2020 at Trailhead at Clearfork.
  13. Heard the same thing about Brix bbq. Supposedly they have a trailer.
  14. Hahaha! I didnt know a car was in it. That must have been fun.
  15. Finally hit up one of the Dayne's Craft Barbecue pop ups. They were at Martin House Brewing yesterday. Very high praise. Great rub on the brisket. The lean was moist and spot on. The ribs had some type of light glaze sauce on them. I was looking at it kinda funny (oh great its kc style), but it was on very thin, not overbearing and worked well on the ribs.
  16. Neurosurgeon? Atif Haque is well known
  17. Ralphlauren.com has some sweet discounts happening. The rlx line has nice stuff.
  18. I've got a 920xt because of the multisport. The 235 is a great running watch. You can check out reviews at dcrainmaker
  19. defender outdoors has a tactical room area with sensors that you shoot airsoft guns.
  20. Before they lengthened the track, I'm pretty sure you couldn't really see the course from 377. I used to race motorcycles on that track, but never took a car out. There is video of a Porsche RUF roll over crash, the driver was able to walk away.
  21. Panther City is really really good. I didn't know that about Billy's, but I'm not a big CFS fan. That being said, the CFS I had at Horseshoe Hill Cafe was awesome, and everyone I was with loved theirs.
  22. congrats jet! helluva an achievement. your numbers on strava are insane.
  23. I ran by that place this morning and my thought was.... this is stupid! It is way too hot most days of the year for this to be enjoyable. The membership thing makes it ridiculous.
  24. Have never had a bad pizza from the Nizza on University. it's been a long while, may have to go carb load soon.
  25. Went yesterday, was trying to figure out something quick and easy after church. wasn't bad. Nizza is better. You can get four big slices of pizza for $15.
