  1. Hanley batted .571 against the Astros in last year’s ALDS. This year, he started 44 games. The Sox won 34 of those games. Just wanted to put that somewhere.

It is, but it's still surprising to see it happen this early in the season. He was slumping big time (and Cora frustratingly kept hitting him 3rd), but he still had a decent line vs lefties (.333/.378/.476). I'm not the biggest fan of the move - I would've liked to see him just platoon with Moreland for the time being - but I think it's the front office going over Cora's head by doing this. Had Hanley hit 497 plate appearances this year, his option for 2019 (at $22 million) becomes automatic. The Sox are partly doing this now to avoid that from happening (or having it become a distraction later in the year). I don't agree, but I understand.

Pesky details... Anyways, it sounds like Romo will start the Friday and Sunday games. A different reliever - Ryne Stanek - will start on Saturday. Still, weird things afoot in Tampa.

Rays’ manager Kevin Cash allegedly plans on starting Sergio Romo again... three days in a row — versus the Orioles. If it happens, it would be the first time in MLB history a pitcher starts three consecutive games in a row.
  5. What are there, like, 6 days off between games 2 & 3? WTF?!? Are they traveling by horseback or something?

J.D. Martinez since the start of 2017: 161 games played 114 runs scored 58 home runs 142 runs batted in .315/.382/.683 405 total bases
  7. Calling it now: the JD Martinez signing was a good one.
  8. For the cord cutters... any recommendations on how to watch this?
  9. nine inch nails - 10/30/1994, at the Fair Park Coliseum in Dallas. I was 13, so my dad chaperoned me & my buddies. Marilyn Manson opened (before he was a thing). Bad-ass concert. Still will remember it 'till the day I die.
  10. Spike Lee definitely is past his prime... but this seems like a funny enough premise without being too haughty and in-your-face (Chi-Raq) as some of his other recent films.
  11. So... Carson Smith may have given himself a "major shoulder injury" throwing his glove last night?!? Fucking great.
  12. Valhalla is legit. Pretty sure they've moved on from Pearl, but it's still damn cheap. Like $1.20 for a beer last I recall. Especially great when the weather is nice and you can hang out on the patio tables (since it still smells pretty rank downstairs).
  13. Mookie Betts through 39 games: .356/.435/.780 (1.215 OPS) with 13 HR, 29 XBHs, 41 runs, 27 RBI and 5 SB. He might very well be the best player in baseball.
  14. So... maybe some bullpen help is needed sometime soon? FAHKIN HELL, DAHMBRAHSKI...
  15. That was an infuriating game last night. Kimbrel is "on" about 97% of the time, but when he's "off"... he falls off a cliff. (His numbers on recording 4+ out saves are not the best, btw.)
  16. I can't wait for this season to be finally over.
  17. Speaking of Price, he has carpal tunnel syndrome. Been typing at the keyboard too long, apparently...
  18. Price is afraid of the MFYs. His "hand numbness" is being evaluated. Porcello is being moved up tonight, and E-Rod pitches tomorrow.
  19. Curious to see how many seats in a 50,000-seat stadium they’ll fill. Two of ‘em will be me, though...

He seems to be pretty good at baseball.
  21. Holy shit. That last ending was a bit intense.

The AL Central seems like it sucks.
  23. Fuckin’ Devil Rays...
  24. Mookie Betts is good at baseball. More importantly... won the series in Toronto, back home for two series vs the Rays & the Royals. Xander returns to the lineup tonight, and not a moment too soon -- Brock will have to sit out a few for a minor hamstring issue. Let's keep this party going. 19-5, with a 4 game lead in the East. April has been a fun month.

    AP Bio

The ratings have been quite low, so it's not looking good. It currently ranks 14th (out of 19) in the 18-49 demo for NBC's prime-time scripted shows. No official word yet, but I'd be willing to bet it's one-and-done. Would be a shame, though. It certainly has potential.
