  1. WTF? Is that something similar to people reenacting the Medieval Days with foam swords and jousting sticks? I digress as people can, I guess, do what they want to do with their free time and $$$. I play golf, but I don’t say “Hey guys, refer to me as Lee Trevino during this round.” Hook’em!!!
  2. If they EVER roll out with that look on a game day, my Dad would probably faint! He is in his 80s, but even turned his nose to when Mackovic tried to implement navy blue on the sidelines whether top or bottom. Hook’em!!!
  3. I then included Fred Newhouse, also a former Olympian of the same ‘76 Games that Lam participated in, so in a way trying to tie it all together, after a couple of cold ones last night. Hook’em!!!
  4. It was my fault for the derail. It all stemmed from referring to J “Lam” Jones’ speed in comparison to Worthy running the fastest combine 40. The fact that there wasn’t an actual decent recording of his final leg of Lam’s infamous 4x400 relay of the State Track meet for Lampasas in the early ‘70s. I then further stated that I knew my Dad as a Track/Field guy filmed their HS track meets back in the 70s, so I couldn’t believe that the UIL didn’t have a recording of Lam’s come from behind final lap. Hook’em!!!
  5. It’s never been openly publicized by staff or player, but I really think Arch was concussed after he ran for the 1st down. When TV was reviewing for a fumble, they should’ve called “Targeting” from the booth officials. Once Arch stood up he even staggered a little bit, as the hit to his helmet was behind his left ear hole. That will always be my opinion. RZ 1st and 10 and he wasn’t even looking at going in, which I really think he should’ve been right next to Sark for his package of run or pass plays. Hook’em!!!
  6. Two biggest obstacles will be faced in the regular season(on the road), so we’ll be ready for the playoffs. Hook’em!!!
  7. We’re winning them all or GTFO! Hook’em!!!
  8. Dad was a great friend of Fred Newhouse, as they worked the Houston area HS and collegiate track meets. They both worked the UIL meet together over the past ~25 years. Fred ran track at PV and is a former Olympian (76?) and Gold Medalist from a relay race (400m?). Mr. Newhouse sadly passed away last year. He was in his late ‘70s. Hook’em!!!
  9. Dad worked the Texas Relays from ~2003 to 2018 and kind of “aged out,” even though he volunteered his time, as long as they paid for his hotel/lodging. Hook’em!!!
  10. Anyone that’s attended a big Houston area HS Track meet in the last 20+ years, he was working it in some capacity. Hook’em!!!
  11. My Dad loved/loves the Track & Field season and I’m sure they filmed their hosted track meets while he was the HC/AD at DeSoto (70-83). He’s worked the last 26 years of the State Track meet in some capacity, but now he’s getting closer to the mid-eighties in age, he’s basically just been a starter “fault” or Finish Line judge, just in case the computer data breaks down, as everything is timed electronically and manual is only back-up. Hook’em!!!
  12. They filmed football games in the ‘70s for sure. I used to ride with my Dad to swap film with other teams coaches at some midway point depending on where they were coming from, as we were in DeSoto, and that was just at the HS level. I can’t believe the UIL didn’t have a “crew” assigned to record the Boys/Girls State Track meet. UT filmed all of their football games even prior to then, so I just surprised nobody was assigned to film the State Track meet. We’re talking late ‘70s, on film, prior to the VHS era of the early to mid ‘80s. All of my HS games are on VHS tapes. Hook’em!!!
  13. In 5-7 years the “leeches” of conferences will be cast away. It’ll be a League (for CFB) of the haves. Those not cracking the “~48” can survive with the others under the NCAA. Football only will separate from the other sports. TV $$$ will dictate this. Hook’em!!!
  14. Are they just going to be a FB headache beyond MSU and Vanderbilt? I think not. Hook’em!!!
  15. At least the Horns “run ruled” one of the small aggy. Hook’em!!!
  16. Even in Little League - 5 errors? WTF is going on? I’ll just sit back and wonder. Hook’em!!!
  17. The Family has now grown to grow grass for golf courses nationwide. Football fields from HS to the Collegiate level is on the phone. Hook’em!!!
  18. Grew up in SETX (Sour Lake) so that’s about as far in SETX as you can go. All my “coon ass” relatives grew up in China. That term was definitely NOT derogatory by any means, especially back in the 80s. My “coon ass” family were rice growers for the Douget’s (extended family) and crop dusters, serving SETX and SWLA. Hook’em!!!
  19. My PaPa carried so much stuff in his overalls that it probably took him 15 minutes to stuff the pockets each morning, while drinking coffee for sunrise. He always had some of that 2cent bubble gum that the flavor only lasted about two- three minutes. One morning he even pulled out a derringer and shot a snake headed to the hen house! I’d spend weeks each Summer with them, as I was a “city boy” and he’d put me to age appropriate work. He had a bumpy ass road leading off the feeder from IH-45. Once off that FM Road and on the entrance to “Bumpy,” he park and say drive us home! About a 3/4 mile stretch. At like 9-10, I could barely press the clutch all the way in order to shift the gears behind the steering wheel and with the bumps could never go from 2-3rd. He’d just say that 2nd was fine, as we’re in no hurry. Hook’em!!!
  20. Is aggy the only people keeping the overall makers in business? I know my PaPa wore them in the 70s working his land/small farm in Leona. I rarely see them “in the wild”today, unless they’re “painted up” by aggy. I guess because “Farmers Fight?” Hook’em!!!
  21. If I was a GM I think I’d let someone else deal with his first contract, then if he proved league worthy within 2-3 seasons, trade for him if and only if my team was in need of a QB1. Hook’em!!!
  22. Looch is keeping the aggy faithful believing his squaller. He somehow keeps the “hive mindset” to participate a believe! Hook’em!!!
  23. Yes - totally abandoned the running game vs ASU. Did the same, IMO, vs OSU the next game. Didn’t help that I really think Arch got concussed on his 1st down run. Hook’em!!!
  24. BOW - too soon! People are finely realizing Quinn’s annual injury. This year was the oblique and ankle. Hook’em!!!
  25. Let alone a Band name. GHP could go platinum! Especially in B/CS and West Houston. Not counting the diminishing SETX town of Beaumont. Hook’em!!!
