  1. Had a pour of WLW tonight for the first time at a bar for $35. Was very good. Caramel was the thing that stood out to me.
  2. I would want the 107, but I’m actively looking for one to compare to my specs pick 107 so….
  3. My recent pickups: St. Cloud : bottle has a little metal Hermes on it. That’s the best thing I can say about this. Cost me $90 at the suggestion of my guy at specs and it is terrible. I’m not sure if it’s the corn they used, or maybe wheat. Idk but it’s gross. Don’t buy. Bardstown origins wheated BiB: ok, has a bit of that same funk as the st clouds, which is why I think it could be from the wheat in the mash overall not too bad. Would call it ok, wouldn’t buy again for $50 Bardstown origins high rye: the better of the two. Might buy again at $50, would for sure buy at $30. Inflstion I guess. Jack daniels single barrel barrel proof 127 from specs: like this one. Have another thats >130 proof and it’s too spicy. This 127 proof is a sweet spot for me. Would recommend for $60 at specs Makers mark ode to Texas from specs “ain’t my first rodeo”: good. Worth the $65 at specs. Caramel and toffee in the front hint of mint and fruit in the back. Nice twist. Very enjoyable Red breast cask strength: good, $100 so pricey but was happy to add it on st Patrick’s day. Lucky 7 the Frenchmen: good. $85 but super caramel and toffee. Do like and I’m happy I grabbed one.
  4. $650 at my little store. How was it?
  5. I think I could get a hard on in that bicep slicer or whatever it’s called
  6. Bijon being a human joystick is hard to measure at a combine.
  7. I’m trying to understand, not to win some internet argument, so please try not to jump to the “well you’ve got your mind made up so you do you” response bc my mind is definitely not made up . This tent is like a 5min one person setup and is freestanding. It’s is 80lbs I believe split between 2 bags for poles and body. Is it really a pain in the ass because of setup and weight? It seems durable and has lots of windows for allowing breezes through. The reviews I’ve seen on poly tents have sketchy stitching, aren’t that water proof, get muggy inside etc. the main benefit I’ve seen (excluding backpacking style camping tents) is they are cheaper which isn’t my primary thing. Are these canvas tents really like a wet towel when it rains?
  8. This is great feedback. The 10x14 is easy to setup, free standing without guy lines, and weighs 80lbs across two separate bags for the poles and the body. It seems like it will have enough room for sleeping quarters. The big 12x12 with enclosed awning tent is a fricken house and weighs 150lbs and takes a huge footprint. One person can set it up, but it is a much bigger pain in the ass vs the flex bow design.
  9. 5 people including the wife, who only wants to glamp and really wants a trailer or something of that sort. The kids are 6/7/11, so growth in the 6/7 yr old boys should really be anticipated. I don’t think I can make the multiple tents idea work until they get older bc they won’t want to sleep in their own tent. I am thinking two queen sized air mattresses at least as a start for sleeping arrangements for now while the kids are small enough to share a bed. I don’t think I want a nylon tent and I don’t think the weight of a canvas tent will be too big a deal because I’ll be camping somewhere my truck can get to when I’m with the family. I’m also not as worried about keeping the cost down as I am the quality of the tent. So I’m debating between 3 options: Kodiak 10x14 flex bow - quick and easy to setup up/pack Kodiak 12x12 cabin style with enclosed awning - Very large footprint with a lot of guide ropes. Kodiak 12x9 cabin style with enclosed awning - Small footprint without a ton of guideropes The enclosed awning gives a bolt on extra room which can mitigate the smaller 12x9 cabin space.
  10. The bakers 7 grew on me when I had one. I liked it for about $70 by the end. Though I haven’t bought another yet, I might
  11. I think gb has a love it /hate it profile. It’s definitely got a sweet corn and heavy wood set of notes. I personally find their regular stuff (smb and sib) to be mediocre and way over priced, but I find their high end stuff, like last year’s cowboy and this years Guadalupe or balmorhea to be very good. In fact, I think last year’s cowboy was one of the best whiskeys of the year. I do agree though that even for their good stuff, it is 2x what I would think the price should be. But there is nothing like it either, so it’s the only game in town for those that love it.
  12. Twin $ sale started today, anybody get anything?
  13. 3 kids ages 6-11. I will have to have comfortable sleeping arrangements and a good battery source for them to really break into camping. I expect that it will definitely be car camping for a while until they come to the point where being out in nature is sufficient reward vs being comfortable. So I’m looking at air mattresses, or cots with pads etc. One big plus about the Kodiak tent is it can zip wide open with seven large screened in windows or close completely up when needed. Also having a stove inside seems like a good way to deal with cold nights without having to buy a bunch of expensive sleeping bags. The price is expensive though, but I don’t want to pay $200-$300 for a typical tent that has to be replaced every couple of years if I can buy this once and it will last a lifetime. The gamble is I spend $4k on camping gear and they don’t take to it and it doesn’t get used enough. There in lies the logic to buy a $200 tent and focus the difference on other camping gear until they really lock in.
  14. My neighbor has one, and granted he uses it on week long elk trips. Is the consensus that it’s overkill for basic Texas camping??
  15. Even if my plan is to do car camping with my truck so I can haul that shit in?
  16. Want to get the family into camping so need a tent that will provide plenty of space for comfort luxuries. Looking at the expensive ‘buy it once and it will last a lifetime’ option 12’x 12’ canvas for $1000 And the 80/20 Costco tent 10’x14’ for $200 Thoughts??
  17. Picked up a gb guad to round out my gb collection. I do like it. Also picked up a saints alley limited edition herald from total wine. It’s like the normal heralds, but with an additional finish. I like it. Bought $250 in wine to get total wine status, will report back on any lottery winnings that result from the status
  18. I have it. I like it, but my buddy doesn’t, so it isn’t universal
  19. Re that empty bins article, China would be facing munition shortages after 6 months as well, that’s how these things go. You burn through everything then figure out a real supply chain later. The us would repurpose resources that aren’t better now and works develop an increased ammo supply line
  20. If I saw a 2022 GTS for $400 I’d buy it. If I saw one for $600 I’d be pretty serious about it, and would try to talk the person down. It’s hard to imagine paying over $400 for a bottle. But that’s a function of my income . If had a lot more money, then $600 would be no big deal for something I want that’s hard to get.
