  1. Yes. This eliminates the "double dipping" provisions enacted years ago. People with Civil Service Retirement System and similar pensions used to be able to collect SS benefits also. 35-40 years ago they offset the other pension amount against the SS earnings. This bill would reinstate the retiree receiving full benefits from both. I didn't have enough quarters in to qualify for SS, but many did, but weren't able to.
  2. Our doc says two in a year and Medicare requires rehab. We don't have Medicare part B, so I don't know what that means. Hope to not find out.
  3. Per Stevie Van Zandt on his underground garage the other day, Quincy produced Lesley Gore's huge hit, It's My Party (And I'll Cry If I Want Too.) This was a biggie in my teen years. A vastly talented man. When Quincy met Lesley – Sixties Music Secrets
  4. We also use these two routes. The Hwy 80-181 has less cities and stop lights. Also, Pioneer Barbecue in Nixon is a good stop.
  5. Just got back from early voting at Bastrop satellite office in Cedar Creek. Buncha other olds, mostly farmer types. Wife and I did not have to wait. Went right up to the iPad check in (two operating), got recorded, and went right to machines (10 or 12, all in operation.) Out in 5 or so minutes. Probably among the few blue votes at that station.
  6. Like people who are going to vote for Trump, but are too embarrassed to say so.
  7. Another vote for Zombie eyeball cookie. No laugh from wife, however.
  8. Someone needs to tell Kevin Kieschneck.
  9. Yeah. We would drive down for the day from Bastrop area when we needed to assess, clean, meet with FEMA, meet with the roofer or other workers, etc. The Sea Sands condo ripped all their sheet rock out and piled it on their parking lot till it could be hauled away. My wife picked up a cough from all the crap in the air. My sister in law's neighborhood over by Community Park was covered with all the vegetation from Charlie's Pasture and the sewer plant swamp. They had more smell problems than we did. It was probably six weeks to two months before we could stay the night.
  10. Wife and I got Pfizer Covid, flu, and Prevnar 20 pneumonia vaccines last week. Both had sore muscle at injection site of Prevnar, me for a day, her a little longer. I plan on getting shingles vax in a couple of weeks. We had the older one years ago. She doesn't want the new one. She had a mild case of shingles on her arm right after the vax. Went away in a few weeks after prescribed ointment. I don't look forward to the side effects.
  11. At Willie's first picnic, July 1973. RIP Kris.
  12. Become a yoga instructor. (See photo above.)
  13. My wife and I took Life and Literature in summer of 1969. The professor was named Watson. Much different books. We read Dobie's Coronado's Children, Andy Adams' Log of a Cowboy, Charlie Siringo's A Texas Cow Boy or Fifteen Years on the Hurricane Deck of a Spanish Pony, Katherine Porter's Pale Horse, Pale Rider, and a collection of stories and poems by Eugene Manlove Rhodes. I may have forgotten one or more. I know we read a book about a cattle drive that he characterized as popular cowboy fiction to contrast with the better written pieces. Unfortunately, too late for Dobie and too early for Graham. Still enjoyed the class.
  14. Disagree. Their anchors are weak sauce, but Alan Holt has good explanations and is as accurate as any (maybe a bit folksy).
  15. Neighbor used to own a Tesla. Now has a Range Rover. I think he got rid of the Tesla before they started to sink.
  16. Since the remake of the LHN, I have had trouble getting the after game press conferences IRT. I tried to find them on LHN, but waited without results. Are they still available live? Where? I guess the best way to watch the Monday presser is on KBVO? Streaming LHN seems to be steaming.
  17. Martha Stewart's Pretty Litter ads. God save us! And they seem to be all over the place.
  18. Last week they had Sark's postgame presser on LHN. Doesn't look like this week. Anyone got any insight?
  19. Not my favorite restaurant, but the grandkids loved the decor. Actually, me too. Wife and I did love the Captain's Catch sandwich, which was great for a call in order after a hard day of yard work. I remember when they had karaoke night once a week (Thursdays?). Been there the over 25 years we've had a presence on the island. Hey, justhookit, do you think they will auction off all those statues, etc. or maybe sell to the new owners?
  20. Was there over the holiday weekend. Busy, but not as much as usual for Labor Day. Lots of carts still in the lots. IGA was a zoo, but the parking lot wasn't as full as usual for heavy weekends. Early back to school? Fear of weather? BTW weather was great.

    Oldies

That was on the jukebox at the Dairy Queen when I was in high school and was one of the favorite plays. When our radio station played them, they weren't yet oldies. 🙂
  22. Was he on TOS? What name did he use? From what I have read of Ulbricht, he kept his Silk Road activity VERY close to his chest, so it seems strange he bragged about it on TOS.
  23. We do both SamsClub and Costco. Some of the Costco items are more upscale (like organics) and SamsClub has a lower priced item. We love the Scan & Go feature. Saves a lot of time.
