  1. My wife and I took Life and Literature in summer of 1969. The professor was named Watson. Much different books. We read Dobie's Coronado's Children, Andy Adams' Log of a Cowboy, Charlie Siringo's A Texas Cow Boy or Fifteen Years on the Hurricane Deck of a Spanish Pony, Katherine Porter's Pale Horse, Pale Rider, and a collection of stories and poems by Eugene Manlove Rhodes. I may have forgotten one or more. I know we read a book about a cattle drive that he characterized as popular cowboy fiction to contrast with the better written pieces. Unfortunately, too late for Dobie and too early for Graham. Still enjoyed the class.
  2. Disagree. Their anchors are weak sauce, but Alan Holt has good explanations and is as accurate as any (maybe a bit folksy).
  3. Neighbor used to own a Tesla. Now has a Range Rover. I think he got rid of the Tesla before they started to sink.
  4. Since the remake of the LHN, I have had trouble getting the after game press conferences IRT. I tried to find them on LHN, but waited without results. Are they still available live? Where? I guess the best way to watch the Monday presser is on KBVO? Streaming LHN seems to be steaming.
  5. Martha Stewart's Pretty Litter ads. God save us! And they seem to be all over the place.
  6. Last week they had Sark's postgame presser on LHN. Doesn't look like this week. Anyone got any insight?
  7. Not my favorite restaurant, but the grandkids loved the decor. Actually, me too. Wife and I did love the Captain's Catch sandwich, which was great for a call in order after a hard day of yard work. I remember when they had karaoke night once a week (Thursdays?). Been there the over 25 years we've had a presence on the island. Hey, justhookit, do you think they will auction off all those statues, etc. or maybe sell to the new owners?
  8. Was there over the holiday weekend. Busy, but not as much as usual for Labor Day. Lots of carts still in the lots. IGA was a zoo, but the parking lot wasn't as full as usual for heavy weekends. Early back to school? Fear of weather? BTW weather was great.

    Oldies

That was on the jukebox at the Dairy Queen when I was in high school and was one of the favorite plays. When our radio station played them, they weren't yet oldies. 🙂
  10. Was he on TOS? What name did he use? From what I have read of Ulbricht, he kept his Silk Road activity VERY close to his chest, so it seems strange he bragged about it on TOS.
  11. We do both SamsClub and Costco. Some of the Costco items are more upscale (like organics) and SamsClub has a lower priced item. We love the Scan & Go feature. Saves a lot of time.
  12. Cue "that's the way it is in that family."
  13. Not so fast, my friend. From the mid or late '70s:
  14. But didn't merthiolate sting even more? Can't be sure - too many years.
  15. Beisboll been berry berry good to me.
  16. I had a red Schwinn also, maybe a year or two later. Mine didn't have a speedometer, light, or tool bag, however. It did have three speeds with the little changer on the handlebars like that one appears to have. That convinced me there was a Santa, as the boxes (older bro got one, too) were out by the curb marked $69.95, and I knew my parents couldn't have swung $140 for these two bikes for Christmas. I guess I didn't know about lay-away and credit at the time.
  17. Inside the Guthrie Center?
  18. Had their Bier Haus Burger last night. Juicy and flavorful, on a tasty bun (Hawaiian?) Didn’t do the swings. Others in party had the fish and chips and breaded shrimp basket. Good experience - would go back.
  19. In after second episode. Certainly a different storyline. Good, not great so far. Wondering where it all goes, so will watch it all.

    LBGTQ

My paternal grandmother (Pauline Olenda) had five sisters - Neva, Opal Lorene, Elba Iona, Verna, and Myrtie Mae. And my mother's name was Mildred. None of which I think were gay or trans. God knows the source of some of these old names.
  22. Why are they yelling frijoles?
  23. Dick Law Firm. "Put our name in their mouth." He looks more like a car salesman than an attorney - but then I've never met the average Surly barrister. "It's easy getting Dick." "Better get Dick."
  24. Sandy Berger, former Clinton adviser, took classified documents out of the National Archives. It was reported he tried to smuggle them out in his socks. He pled guilty. He was working for Kerry's election campaign at the time.
  25. They're now calling Mark Welsh Trev? I can see Trey (he's Mark Welsh III) but can't see the Trev.
