  1. Biels has four wins so far at Illinois, which is like equivalent to eight at any other school because Illinois is so bad. They have a good shot at a fifth win against Northwestern and Iowa isn't a sure thing to win their game against an interim fill-in guy while Bert is out with the Covid. Could Bert be leaving Champaign at the end of one season? A total boss and baller move shouldn't be ruled out with 15 vacancies needing to be filled and dominoes to fall and plenty of places better than The Champaign Room for Bert to leave for?
  2. Army Base Rape Rock? Real subtle stuff from Moby. Keep in mind this was around the time Moby thought he was Natalie Portman's boyfriend and he wrote a book about it with some of the worst writing you will ever experience and somehow the passage about him describing himself as too emotionally damaged to go out with Natalie Portman somehow this stays in the book after being edited and proofread is beyond me.
  3. Nebraska comes up a lot on the local talk radio and some of the other feeds I listen to. One of the big things Scott Frost did wrong when he started at Nebraska was with the physicality, the size and strength of the offensive and defensive lines. His teams get pushed around by teams regularly. In the B1G West especially, its a game of big guys on the lines as opposed to skill players on the edges. PJ Fleck understood this and started signing 400 pound guys to play guard and lines up a fullback every now and then. Wisconsin and the new Bert regime at Illinois are both building their teams around o-line play. The weather in Nebraska is suited for run option football, the wind and cold makes passing difficult and scores are low. They need big guys, and lots of them. Their quarterback could be great but he is running for his life all the time. They can't get first downs in the second half when they have a lead.
  4. This is just way too bad for Nebraska and Scott Frost to lose another close game where they had plenty of chances to win.
  5. I am so tired of Boston College.
  6. Western Kentucky has one of the best mascots of all the schools in the C-USA cookie jar for whatever conference wants to stick their hand in and get them.
  7. Is anyone else having this tweet and the pic that goes with it load and crop awkwardly? I know it was posted on the last page. Is this some kind of final insult to Gary after all he has done over the years. To have this terrible photo load up from the bottom three quarters view and make him look even sillier?
  8. The extra year from the delay meant more money being spent editing the movie, post-production,special effects and music. But also another year of tv commercials and the olympic and nfl ones were unwatchable and super expensive and may not have made a difference to the bottom line but I am not a marketing guy so what do i know. The movie has lots of women talking about some of the male talent on display. Girls not normally into epic sci fi but have some weird thing about Timothee Chalamet or the other male leads.
  9. Is that the guy who calls into the Iowa State coach's radio show every week?
  10. Nard Dawg, Pat Narduzzi at Pitt, stock price is rising fast.
  11. Okay, I am getting through the third soundtrack album right now. The Art And Soul of Dune. This one is minimalist/ambient/drone versions of the previous themes with tracks up to 26 minutes long.
  12. I only read the first book and that was a long time ago. The big difference between it and many other sci-fi novels is the reading level needed. A middle school kid wouldn't be able to process everything in the book. Its for High School Senior or older kids. Dune is not watered down with talking animals or bumpy headed aliens meant for action figure merchandising. My understanding is that they get a bit less good with each installment, and the later ones by his son are just pulp sci-fi for crazy superfans. I would guess the movie would get more kids interested in the books. The books also focus on social science, people and society changing over time, its not hard sci-fi with astronauts and physics.
  13. I think we can all agree that the biggest story in college football today is Minnesota's win over Nebraska. Can you believe it? Minnesota beating Nebraska!

    USMNT 2021

    That was pleasing and relieving!
  15. Over-reaction and over-correction to the preseason rankings meant Iowa was moved to the top of a pile of teams in the rankings after wins over Indiana and Iowa State.
  16. It was 17-3 Penn State in the 2nd quarter when Clifford was injured and left. The backup was able to lead them to a field goal in the second half.
  17. Matt Hankins, from Lewisville TX, splitting image of Merton Hanks, with two big plays on 4th downs in consecutive series.
  18. This is a brutally physical game with multiple guys out with injuries on both teams, most importantly the starting quarterback Clifford.
  19. They had a good game last week against the younger brother of the guy who was good at Alabama three years ago so obviously they would hold their own against the third or fourth best team in the SEC West.
  20. I get the idea that the movie is going to take some artistic license with its approach to environmentalism. Like the book deals with ecology and the environment from a perspective from what the environmental movement was a long time ago. The movie adaptation will just be different. The Baron being a complete cartoon bad guy in the book, and the homosexuality bit will be changed around. You can't use his homosexuality to make him evil in this day and age. The character will be less cartoonishly evil and more complex in the movie adaptation.
  21. They haven't seen the video clip of the couple on the hill just outside the stadium from like 10 years ago.
  22. I remember when Urban was at his peak in Florida and Gameday had a kid with a sign reading "Coach Urban Meyer" with a big capitalized letter C, U, and M.
