  1. Looks like the matchup against Illinois will have its own nationwide broadcast time slot so everyone has a chance to see what these two teams have to show us.
  2. TBH I was surprised when this happened. I expected him to make the team, at the least stay on as a Practice Squad guy while he learned a new position. SMH.
  3. The vast majority of musicians in human history made no money at all. The period of certain musicians making money is a small part of musical history. Like for a very brief moment in time a handful of musicians made money. Then most of them spent it all or were cheated out of money or did too many drugs and lost it any way they can. Its like athletes who play professionally and then two years after their career ends more than half of them are broke.
  4. They had a pretty good turnout in Dyersville, Iowa for the event to promote the Apple Pie Hot Dog tonight.
  5. The movie is going to approach some of the issues in the book differently. Homosexuality, the environmental movement, gender issues, lots of stuff. The special effects and costumes and set design from the previous efforts were just terrible. The sand worms from the Lynch movie were lifted up with little strings, other effects shots were done in the parking lot of a soccer stadium in Mexico City.
  6. There will be some significant changes and artistic license taken with the film coming out in October.
  7. The promo being run during the Olympics broadcast is unbearable.
  8. It wasn't as good as the original Woodstock back in '94.
  9. Its not a coincidence that this comes up just a couple weeks after UT and OU go to the SEC. The NFL commissioner saw that the SEC commissioner had pulled one over on the B12 Commissioner, and was about to pull off the ultimate power move. He could move another NFL team to Birmingham AL, Memphis TN, and some other SEC conference footprint cities to totally stomp on the conference to remind them who is boss.
  10. I am thinking that this could happen it is definitely a possibility.
  11. The production group that created DDD, Page Productions, had come up the show and needed a host and Guy Fieri was the perfect fit for the show. But the producers and Fieri eventually had a falling out and Fieri was able to use his position as the star of the show to get a whole different production company in charge. I don't care to look up what they disagreed over. The one guy that heads the company is more of a writer, he wrote a book about regional American food during the pandemic. Meaning he wrote the book during the pandemic, not that the subject matter was the pandemic. Food Americana by David Page. Anyway, if you have a successful tv show, the number one rule as a producer should be to keep the star happy and do anything to keep him happy if you want to keep those residual checks flowing in.
  12. When the DDD show originally started, it was heavily derivative of the Roadfood book by Jane and Michael Stern. Like the show producers just opened the book and said lets make a tv show out of this. When Guy Fieri was on the Food Network Star tv show they had literally found the perfect host for the program. A decade later and something like 200 episodes later and the Food Network can just fill up an entire day with DDD reruns and get decent audiences and commercial revenue. Its what show creators dream about when they are trying to put together new programs.
  13. I thought the press conference was just a long airing of personal grievances. Lots of people have issues with their management or employers but don't just go to the media to complain. Even in the NFL, tons of guys have axes to grind. Rodgers isn't an owner or a GM and shouldn't be telling them how to do their jobs. Compare it with Andy Dalton's press conference where he talks about being the starter but helping the younger new guy get acclimated to the league. Dalton at least knows his role on the team and is content with it.
  14. Just a few weeks until the anticipated coaching showdown with Biels:
  15. Just about every crowd shot at the game had folks in El Tri colors but holding Qatar flags. I would guess the El Tri fans had bought tickets figuring Mexico might make it into that game, and maybe the Qatar FA was handing out flags to anyone at the stadium. Almost none of them had the Middle Eastern eyes that the people from that part of the world have. But then a couple of the Qatar players weren't really from Qatar either. Then there was the awful Qatar 2022 promo video, endless Qatar Airlines commercials in the pregame, and the video ribbon ads for Qatar Airlines. I don't know where I got the idea but maybe the potential sponsorship revenue played a role in them being invited to the Gold Cup.
  16. Qatar looked like a decently talented and well coached team with a whole lot of chemistry and experience between the players in the first part of the game. The second part of the game was complete disorganized bedlam. The Qatari keeper seemed shook up at the end, in the wrong place too often.
  17. The Qatari's have got skillz.
  18. Soccer has countless tournaments year round, they are all expanding and more are added every year, and of all the competitions and games that could be broadcast on FOX, they chose Qatar vs. El Salvador.
  19. A couple tracks from the score were dripped out this week
  20. My local tv listings are showing the Qatar v. El Salvador being broadcast tonight. I guess I have something to watch now.
  21. Before he wrote the book he took a trip to look at sand dunes in Oregon and wrote a non-fiction story about their ecology but no magazine would even print it.
  22. In honor of the upcoming match against the Jamaican national soccer team, known as the Reggae Boys. I am going to share some of my favorite reggae anthems. Just a little taste of the island to go with the dark meat jerk chicken and rum to enjoy the game with.
  23. I always saw Nebraska more like the Shakespearean depiction of Richard III.
  24. There are branded tie in games like a table top card game already out that have art supposedly based on what the stuff in the movie will look like.
