  1. We need a live thread for the big game against New Mexico State. Its the biggest of a whole slate of real football games on Saturday.
  2. I am so tired of people using big words to impress their friends and leave people like me super confused.
  3. I think this is the year that Love Smith finally gets things together and turns the Fighting Illini into Division Champions!
  4. People mentioned The Office in the perfect casting thread. And the original cast was great. But the later characters in the years after Michael Scott left were just awful casting with bad writing thrown in and the show was unwatchable by the end.
  5. Costner was the king of the classic dramatic technique known as the conspicuous butt in the movie walk, very popular for the mega hunks of the late eighties and nineties. This guy sold a lot of movie tickets to middle aged women who knew what they were getting when they went to see one of this movies. Its practically the only reason anyone bought a ticket and sat through Dances with Wolves.
  6. Former Boat Rower and Fleck recruit Sam Beal ran a good forty and was taken by the NY Giants in the NFL Supplemental Draft, the Giants lose their 3rd round pick in the next draft by taking him. That makes three Boat Rowers taken in this draft.
  7. Booked my airfare and my tickets. Always best to get ahead of the crowd on things like this.
  8. The whole storytelling and cinematic aspect of having the old interview clips where he is saying that without football he would be on the corner getting in trouble and going to jail and then cutting it with the court scene and going to jail was something.
  9. Whenever discussing "charts" or "Top 10s" or "Number 1 Hits", keep in mind that the measurements based on radio airplay are determined by a small number of radio programmers who share a specific set of demographic traits that makes these things more like "what a bunch of boring old white guys decide to play on every radio station". Even today in the streaming and Spotify and Youtube era, the decisions of which tracks get promoted on what playlists is determined by a bunch of old white guys (relative to the listeners or users). Just look at the artists in the lists and the biases become pretty clear.
  10. Patrick Swayze - Everything
  11. Vin Diesel and The Rock.
  12. I just tuned in and it sounds like the announcers are in preseason or training camp mode.
  13. The walk on spots from some of the players are like 5th string backup break glass in case of emergency type of roster spots.
  14. I noticed the audio from the radio guy sounded a little chopped up and re-recorded like a reality show. Bobby Bruce somehow got past his arrest and is back on the team according to one picture on twitter so you never know. Maybe Malik should try baseball you would think he could keep his temper in check playing that game with the different rhythm and daily grind instead of the crazy build up to a weekly football game. I would think he could go to a big time 1-AA school with a competent coach that has a positive atmosphere might do something for him, but he has depression issues that aren't getting fixed in the show. Some of the guys from seasons 1 and 2 are getting invited to NFL camps but they are long shots to make the final cuts.
  15. i bin listening to the poli riddim cowrie shell space opera soundtrack that is the khalab album
  16. Don't forget about The Colorado Buffs!
  17. The assistant coaches at Independence are not even close to what EMCC had, I thought at least two of the EMCC assistants would move up to better jobs soon. The guys at Independence are either working for free and/or long term friends with the head coach.
  18. I hadn't been checking these Star Wars threads but you can kinda see which guys are a little too emotionally invested and have long term connections to films like its part of their identity and which guys pay attention to things like acting, direction, plot, character development, treat the films like any other movie.
