  1. Can you folks that have a personal dislike for Icono take it to another thread to discuss trannies, tailored jerseys, Cougar High, etc.? It gets really tedious reading these takes in every thread in which he posts. It's starting to remind me of the gaggle of clingers that used to follow Rocko and Derka around posting the same dumb takes about pay stubs, Camaros, obesity, etc.
  2. So Ohio St. and Michigan (1) voted to cancel the season and (2) are asking about the ability to play in another conference. I feel like either (1) or (2) has to be incorrect.
  3. Thread title stated "relocate." Then, mentioned a year in the first post. Down to three months now. Have a great long weekend at Great Wolf Lodge.
  4. I'm starting to get to this point. NFL should have a farm system for 18-21+ year olds. Pay them whatever the market bears. College sports, assuming they continue to exist, should be low dollar endeavors. As a huge college sports fan, that's tough to say. But the college athletics system has become bloated, bureaucratic and really strange.
  5. I really like the name, logo, and uniforms. Amazon bought the naming rights to the arena and named it Climate Pledge Arena. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue but isn't bad.
  6. Genuine question. Why do you think "Wall Street" doesn't understand that investments today may pay dividends later? Do the analysts and portfolio managers at investment banks not understand that? Do the algorithms used by high-frequency traders and quants not account for long-term strategy?
  7. No one is dead and the guy is getting life for crimes committed when 16 years old. That's crazy and depressing. Give him 10 years, shit even 20 years. He doesn't need to die in prison.
  8. Is there a connection between the Redtails and the city of DC?
  9. Hey assholes, you're unsurprisingly wrong. The men are itchy. Skotnicki studied microbiology before becoming an assistant professor of dermatology at the University of Toronto. She has been practicing for 23 years, always with an eye to how the environment—including the microbial one on our skin—affects health. “I say to them, ‘How do you shower?’ ” she told me. “They take the squeegee thing and wash their whole body with some sort of men’s body wash. They’re showering twice a day because they’re working out. As soon as I get them to stop doing that and just wash their bits, they’re totally fine.” “Bits would be underarms, groin, feet,” she said. “So when you’re in the shower or the bath, do you need to wash here?” She pointed to her forearm. “No.” Even water alone, especially hot water, slowly strips away the oils in the outer layers of skin that help preserve moisture—and the drier and more porous someone’s skin, the more susceptible it is to irritants and allergens. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/07/hygiene-is-overrated/612235/
  10. Whenever someone tells you the number of hours they work, you should discount by somewhere between 10-25%. Well, at least for lawyers.
  11. The definition I knew is the most common definition, friend. minstrel [ min-struh l ]SHOW IPA SEE SYNONYMS FOR minstrel ON THESAURUS.COM noun 1. a medieval poet and musician who sang or recited while accompanying himself on a stringed instrument, either as a member of a noble household or as an itinerant troubadour. 2. a musician, singer, or poet. 3. one of a troupe of comedians, usually white men in blackface, presenting songs, jokes, etc., and portraying negative racial stereotypes. https://www.dictionary.com/browse/instrument Definition of minstrel 1: one of a class of medieval musical entertainers especially : a singer of verses to the accompaniment of a harp wandering minstrels 2a: MUSICIAN b: POET 3a: a member of a type of performance troupe caricaturing black performers that originated in the U.S. in the early 19th century NOTE: The acts of minstrels, who typically performed in blackface, featured exaggerated and inaccurate representations of black people in songs, dances, and comic dialogue. The popularity of minstrel shows in their heyday played a significant role in promoting negative racial stereotypes. Professional minstrel shows had fallen out of favor and effectively disappeared by the mid-20th century. b: a performance by a troupe of minstrels : a minstrel show https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/minstrel
  12. I thought a minstrel was just a wandering musician, and didn't understand the issue or headline. Didn't realize there was a related but distinct definition about white people in blackface. [Insert more you know rainbow]
  13. I think yall are misinterpreting the actions of the second Buffalo cop; the cop who prevented the first cop from bending down over the old guy on the ground. The second cop did not think he was stopping the first one from rendering aid. The second cop was doing a good deed. He was stopping the first cop from bending down to continue to beat the old guy. [Slight sarcasm but who knows, maybe?]
  14. I was miserable for the last 2-3 hours. It took about 24 hours before I could walk without a hiccup in my step after completion. I didn't do anywhere close to enough training. What I'd do differently is simply hike more. I did some longish weekend hikes. But relied primarily on resistance leg workouts and cardio stuff, and I didn't do enough of that either. I should have done more of both, but particularly the hiking aspect. I think that's the only way to get your legs ready for the Rim to Rim experience.
  15. I think it’s ok to be concerned for someone who was beaten near to death by a mob, regardless of race. You need to take a step back.
  16. I’m a Texas fan and grad but I live in Seattle now. So I’ve adopted UW as my second squad and I’m really hoping UW is able to keep these 5 stars in state. Washington (the state) has three top 25 national recruits and it’s looking like UW may snare only one of them. It’s a rare year and opportunity for UW to have 3 five stars in its back yard. At least we’re keeping the five star QB but I don’t understand why Jimmy Lake, a defensive young new coach, can’t keep JT from the buckeyes.
  17. Is there an article that explains the lawsuit angle? I don't quite understand it. Don't the plaintiffs' attorneys have to show that their clients got it from X league/company by a preponderance of the evidence? Then, don't they have to show damages? If someone dies, damages seem straightforward but if someone gets flu-like symptoms for a week or two, what are the damages?
  18. His analogy was speed limits. It wasn't diet and heart disease. The speed of one driver on the road impacts the safety of other drivers and people on the road. Vehicular speed is not a communicable illness but each driver's speed affects other people's safety - people on the road riding the bus, crossing the street, driving their car, etc.
  19. Smoking seems to be protecting people from COVID-19. The data suggests it's the opposite of a risk factor. https://www.economist.com/science-and-technology/2020/05/02/smokers-seem-less-likely-than-non-smokers-to-fall-ill-with-covid-19
  20. I can't remember doing that. But I certainly have different expectations for adults and children with respect to most minor offenses, like trespassing. I'm certainly no trespass lawyer. But I find it hard to believe that is the law. I own plot of land X with a house on it in suburban America. I tear down the house because I want to build a new house. The law allows people to wander around my plot of land X from the moment I tear it down until the new house is complete? When does the law quit allowing people to wander around on my property? Hellscape was hyperbole - that's fair. I don't think it's a hellscape. I think all of you wandering around residential construction sites are nosy neighbors similar to the people on Nextdoor. Your last couple of sentences are stupid and not worth responding to.
  21. Yes, that is getting in someone's business and trespassing. It's property not owned by you and not a park, store, or other location open to the public. I've never lived in suburban America but it sounds like a hellscape if people assume they're permitted on residential construction sites unless there is a sign telling them to stay out or a fence preventing them from entering. You know you don't own the lot. You know it's not open to the public. Stay the hell out. There are a million places open to you. (Again, I feel like the need to state that I'm in no way condoning the murder by the vigilantes. I assume trespassing is punishable by a small fine. It shouldn't open you up to being killed by racist assholes.)
  22. I can’t believe how many of y’all go snooping in residential construction sites. It’s the kind of shit I’d expect from busy bodies on next door. People just can’t help themselves from sticking their nose in other people’s’ business. (I feel like I have to add that I’m not defending these vigilantes. If someone is trespassing, call the cops, tell the owner, or just mind your business. The vigilantes should be prosecuted.)
  23. That's me. I wash face, hands, scalp, armpits, crotch, and ass. I feel like everything else just needs rinsed. I don't actively wash arms, torso, back, legs, feet, etc.
