  1. The list of aggravating circumstances for capital murder is pretty expansive. The DA's information alleged "the actor knowingly created a great risk of death to another individual other than the deceased individual and the actor" as grounds for elevating this to capital murder.
  2. Skip that and invest in a Mochamaster coffee maker and a decent conical grinder like a Baratza. Yeah, it's an investment but it'll pay for itself in the savings from switching to whole beans.
  3. No shit. Undergrad and law degrees both from Harvard, Harvard Law Review. Clerked for Breyer. Worked as a federal public defender and was on the Oversight Committee for the US Sentencing Guidelines. Served as a US District Court and Circuit Court judge. Totally unqualified.
  4. Arch Manning injury update: Did Texas football QB get injured vs SJSU? Texas football quarterback Arch Manning said he wasn't dealing with any pain when he met with the media following the Longhorns' 38-7 victory Saturday over San Jose State. The ABC broadcast showed Manning grimacing as he released a pass intended for Ryan Wingo over the middle that ended up well off target. "I got to make that throw," Manning said when asked about the play and his facial expression thereafter. "He ran a good dig route, so I got to make that throw." So what was with the grimace? Just something he does without realizing? "Probably so," Manning said. "I don't even know." Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian brushed aside a question about Manning's health, too. "I don't know," he said. "News to me." Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning (16) jumps into the end zone, scoring a touchdown, during the game against San Jose State at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025. Mikala Compton/Austin American-Statesman Manning improved upon his subpar showing last week against Ohio State, completing 19 of 30 passes against San Jose State for 295 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning (16) passes down the field during the game against San Jose State at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025. Mikala Compton/Austin American-Statesman His four-touchdown showing matched his career high, equaling his four-TD mark after coming on in relief of Quinn Ewers against UTSA last season. He also rushed for an additional touchdown Saturday. Manning was lifted in the fourth quarter with the Longhorns holding a 38-7 lead as the second-team offense entered. Though Sarkisian said the backup situation was "fluid," when asked about it earlier this week, he elected to go with the veteran Matthew Caldwell in garbage time. Caldwell completed two of his three passes for 22 yards.
  5. Didn't it start after some of the player's jewelry got stolen from the locker room during a road game? I think it's hilarious.
  6. Some of you guys, I swear, it's like you never stepped into a batter's box in a little league game before. Form and vision break down under stress. Athletes who are nervous often revert back to poor form or miss obvious plays. It's why they practice so much, so that good play becomes second nature. One and a half bad games doesn't make you a bust. We've all seen perfect in-game reps from Arch, but we just need to see it consistently and against great defenses. Save this take for his forth or fifth bad game, because that's about how long his rope is with Sark and we both know it.
  7. Upon rewatch, I tend to agree. Sark didn't seem to want to waste putting anything new on film in this game. Sometimes it felt like he was calling certain plays to figure out how Patricia would react more than to move the ball.
  8. A college QB who played QB as a backup and practice squad member for three NFL teams over five years before washing out and starting a Youtube channel. He made a name for himself by making Madden videos and now he's branching out into film breakdown.
  9. I'm hoping someone out there cashed in on Livingston catching a TD for +450. We'll never see those odds again.
  10. Go back and watch the Maryland openers if you want to see mediocrity. That wasn't this.
  11. You guys are right, I didn't know what I was talking about. This makes it an even better story if he goes on to get drafted though.
  12. That and everything I've heard about him is that he bleeds burnt orange and coming to Texas was his family's dream come true. Losing that sort of weight at his size is no joke. He could have just stayed fat and live out his dream as a backup his whole career, but he hasn't and good for him. His strength is a known commodity, and everything else he can develop with enough determination and practice. Shit, if Taaffe can go from walk-on to All-American, anything is possible.
  13. It's almost like Ryan Day wants to prove that he's the key to OSU's success, and that he can run the table without Knowles and Chip Kelly. Why else go back to calling plays from the sideline and bringing in an NFL guy to run someone else's defense. This either works or it doesn't, but to me it looks like a risky short-term strategy. Day is trying ride the momentum he's had in recruiting rather than take a step back and replace both coordinators with more permanent options. It worked for Nick Saban more often than not, but I don't know that I've ever seen it work for anyone else.
  14. I don't think Donaldson and Wisner are really comparable. Donaldson is a big dude. Wisner is way smaller. What Baxter gives us that the rest of our backs don't is the ability to change directions and break tackles. Wisner has had to grow into his role, but he answered the call last year in a big way. He and Blue stepped up bigtime last year. I imagine the entire room should perform better now that defenses will have to account for the QB in the run game.
  15. I'll see your Fox Noon Kickoff and raise you an ESPN Longhorn Network and the slow death of the Big12.
  16. People are creatures of habit that don't like change. God forbid they have to go to a polling place that is different from the one they've gone to for 30 years.
  17. Besides that, I don't think Roberts will go for it, and he should be able to convince at least one of Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, or ACB to go along with him. Thomas and Alito, though, would sell out this country for Trump in a heartbeat.
  18. Ur-Fascism? Sounds more like Ur-Aggyism.
  19. https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/27/middleeast/israel-pager-attack-hezbollah-lebanon-invs-intl/index.html Yeah, you really need the context to understand how horribly racist and insulting that was.
  20. Time. He's had a full year in the program, and he would have been WR1 but for all the transfers. People forget that Cook came in as a Dude last year. He had to learn some humility to sit behind so much graduating talent as a freshman. I think he will be rewarded for that and that he and will be named starters for the beginning of the season, and that Bond is penciled in for one of the other starter spots. The fight for the last spot and the first spot off the bench will probably be between Golden, Bolden, Moore, and Wingo. Anything can change in fall practice, but that's my guess now.
  21. Here's hoping Coach Choate wrecks shop in the Mountain West with our transfers.
  22. It'll be jumpin' that night at the Holiday Inn!
  23. This is a standard unanimity charge instruction for alternative manners and means. Here is the offense Trump was convicted of: The bolded section is where the alternatives were presented. In Texas, the instruction given in this situation was proper. This does not even consider how or whether error was preserved on this issue.
  24. Fair enough. But by that standard the ceiling for any kicker is 4, which is weird. He's not called Hermanator for nothing.
