  1. Ski Patrol strike has ended in Park City just in time for our family trip this weekend. Phew!
  2. Prob should've said Wasatch
  3. Man that looks beautiful. Ty for the pics! Its just been a nasty 2 months for snow for the Rockies/Sangre de Christos. It looks like some positive changes out west at the 1/20 timeframe. Of course that's the day we come home from PC, but I'm still super excited to get back on some skis.
  4. This is the news I need to hear. We are there on MLK weekend, so I am trying to temper my expectations. I will be a single skier on the first day while my girls are in lessons, and we will all ski greens together on the 2nd day. Just wish there was snow in the forecast. Looks bone dry for 10 days.
  5. Any idea if ski schools would be impacted by this strike since they get to skip the lines? From what I am reading, there is no resolution in site. If I have to wait an hour to ski 20% of the mountain that is only 23% open, I am going to consume so much Fireball on my own personal strike.
  6. Soooo this Park City strike is news to me. We are heading there next Friday, and NOTHING is refundable. Anyone know if there is any sort of timeline on the ski patrol strike, or should I prepare the family for disaster?
  7. This forecast is shit. I'm really glad we decided on a January ski trip instead of December. 9% of Park city is open with little relief in site. This pattern desperately needs to flip in the next 3 weeks.
  8. <weather nerd> not if this potential sudden stratospheric warming event occurs as predicted by the Madden-Julien Oscillation <weather nerd>
  9. Now THAT is impressive. I have seen pics of Ski Apache looking like a xmas card. What an early season for those folks. They deserve it...especially what Ruidoso has been through the last few years.

  11. Great conditions to establish a nice base in the forecast. Keep adding to it every day.
  12. Disney Cruise next week. Is there going to be a sports bar on this cruise ship where I can watch the Texas/a&m game? I guess it really doesn't matter as I can't do anything about it, but I would at least be prepared mentally...and more importantly, my wife will be prepared for my negativity.
  13. I second Copper by way of the route below. So beautiful, and you avoid I-70.
  14. I was not familiar with Silverton. I had to look it up. That's even more desolate and difficult to get to than Wolf Creek.
  15. DUMPING in Ruidoso. Ski Apache is loving it: https://www.discoverruidoso.com/info/live-webcam-see-what-ruidoso-looks-like-in-real-time
  16. Looks like Angel Fire will be the big winner with this upcoming southern storm.
  17. Just had this. It looks nothing like this pic, however. It needed 3x more meat, and then the entire pickle needed to be wrapped in a larger piece of meat so that all of the fixins don't fall out.
  18. I'm pretty sure this is MLK weekend, but I would still take that weekend over opening weekend any day.
  19. I really need a webcam of a Wolf Creek snow stake. OpenSnow typically has them streaming at each resort when available, but with the amount of snow WC gets, I really want to be able to tune in when big storms roll through.
  20. Great thread with some really good info. Wife has landed on PR as the anniversary destination at the end of March next year. Stay in Condado. Explore Old San Juan Hike/Explore El Yunque nat'l forest. Visit Luquillo Beach on the way to Fajardo for the kayak tour. I will go back and look at the food recs in the thread. She really wants to day trip to Aguadilla, but 4 hrs of driving does not interest me on vacation.
