  1. I went there right at the end of July. I could tell that if even a few people showed up there positive all hell would break loose. No one wearing masks, not even in the crowded IGA, lots of people that by their demographic profile you would expect to be unvaccinated. They were already having restaurant staffing issues by then. Time to find a different beach next time we travel.
  2. This thing's going to kill 100,000+ in Texas and over a million nationally before it's over, isn't it?
  3. Yeah, I thought people is SoCal were thinner than us. Maybe not.
  4. California got it right: 1) UC tier: elite research universities, high admission standards 2) Cal state tier: Teaching-focused colleges, moderate to low admissions standards 3) Community Colleges How we ended up with 7 systems in a smaller state bottles the mind.
  5. Sadly, those are probably the result of tax-free shopping weekend.
  6. that's the other crowd that thinks the laws of nature don't apply to them.
  7. I got mildly harassed down on the coast for wearing a mask to buy ice. "scared of the China virus"? it's going to rip through those communities. I think I saw one other dude with a mask in POC and zero in port a, which was packed. Small sample size as I avoided people and being inside the entire trip. I took the family to port A three weeks ago, and regretted it as there was absolutely no sense of a need for safety and I have a kid under 12. Even worse, you can't really take out food there because of a restaurant staffing shortage. We cooked almost the entire trip.
  8. After a couple of days out, we're back in the top 10 again. Crazy thing is that for the first time that I recall, the SEC + Oklahoma now has a clean sweep of the top 12 states in infection rate. SEC! SEC! SEC! (source: washingtonpost.com)
  9. Ask the fans of pretty much any FBS program on the east coast north of the Carolinas what they think of WVU and its fans, and you'll hear some things.
  10. My guess it was better academics and a big city market over anything else.
  11. His dye job may be funnier than the captioning.
  12. In honor of Dusty Hill, This picture of ZZ Top's event in the Fandango gatefold is amazing:
  13. She still looks like she's in a hostage video or deeply shaken. We'll probably have the same expression soon.
  14. Not to self-reply, but seriously, the Entire SEC region is in the top three rows, none lower than #14.
  15. Looks like joining the SEC has gotten us back into the top 10!
  16. I once attended a Temple game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly. Although their crowds are pretty weak and it was a 2:30 kickoff, I noticed several RVs with Eagles graphics in the parking lot that showed up for tailgating before the Temple game, presumably to tailgate through the weekend. Imagine doing that at DKR, except it would be the other way around, with the hungover post-UT game crowd partying into Sunday morning and then hitting the NFL game. Also, we need to import representatives of the Bills Mafia for the purpose of making sure the tailgate game is lit for the new team.
  17. In addition to S. Dakota over Kansas, I think S. Dakota State has a shot against Colorado State
  18. I did once. Interstate Barbeque in the terminal is terrible. If that joint is at all indicative of Memphis BBQ, I've had enough.
  19. Paraphrasing Mitch Hedberg: Well, they still are…but they were, too.
