  1. It’s a separate medical institution as designated by the UT System. It’s one of only 4 unaffiliated with a 4 year university after the merger of the San Antonio schools. https://www.utsystem.edu/institutions lol if I had hard feeling for shit like this on shag/surly I wouldn’t have lasted long.
  2. First, I called them a “medical institution” in my post. Secondly… UT MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the six schools at UT Health Science Center at Houston. Despite being officially associated under UT Houston, the UT System lists MD Anderson as a separate health institution due to its unique specialization.
  3. This is 15 years in the making. It was only a matter of time. Once complete UT-Austin, UTSA, UTRGV, and UT-Tyler will all have medical schools. That leaves 4 unattached medical institutions. MD Anderson (which will likely always remain its own thing) UTHSC-Houston and UTMB-Galveston (neither of which have an existing university nearby…yet) UT-Southwestern which is sandwiched between UTD and UTA would make merging politically tricky (but not impossible). UTEP and UTPB are in area where Tech has a medical school or extension, and I doubt SFA will get one with Tyler just an hour up the road.
  4. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/texas-a-m-shuts-down-controversial-12th-man-nil-fund-after-irs-threatens-foundations-nonprofit-status/ Yes. The distinction was that aggy was trying to own the NIL fundraising and distribution arm, NOT just partnering with a separate entity like the Longhorn Foundation is.
  5. They don’t seem to understand the difference between The Longhorn Foundation and The Texas One Fund. They tried to lump them together under the 12th Man Foundation and had to reverse course because that entity is fully owned and operated by the aggy. This seems rather obvious…or am I missing something.
  6. Former BCS P6 conference members UConn and USF say 👋 hello! (Memphis was technically a part of an AQ conference for the 2013 season as well)
  7. The answer… Last Texas Safety Drafted: 2021 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caden_Sterns Last Texas Consensus All American Safety: 2017 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeShon_Elliott And now compare that to aggy… Last aggy Safety Drafted: 2023 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_Johnson_(defensive_back) Last aggy Consensus All American Safety: 1970 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Elmendorf
  8. Not a success but this guy came to mind… A five-year player who has spent time as both an offensive and defensive lineman, but emerged as a starter at offensive tackle in 2014 before returning to primarily a reserve role in 2015 … moved from offensive line to defensive tackle in the 2013 preseason … switched back to offensive line during the 2014 preseason and found a home.
  9. Going back 15 years 2025-2011 per 247 Texas had better classes 9 times in: 11, 12, 15, 16, 18, 19, 23, 24, and currently 25 aggy had better classes 6 times: 2013 & 2014 (FUPM>Strong transition class along with aggy getting a post move SEC and JFF heisman bump) 2017 (Strong>Herman transition class) 2020-2022 (Herman>Sark transition, Jimbo post Orange Bowl win and the bagman’s last hurrah)
  10. Did I just hear an A-C-C chant?
  11. Might as well add Memphis, Duke, Syracuse, and VCU to complete the set.
  12. I assumed BY wouldn’t just let this go. I don’t think this is a good value unless they are planning on going to 24. At 18 or 20 it’s very much meh.
  13. I truly believe that ‘tournament’ football champions will be a thing in the not too distant future. Say Georgia is the only team that goes undefeated, does it benefit the conference or Georgia to play in a CCG? Let them claim the bye for the SEC, rest their players, and have the next two teams play for top seeding. It just makes too much sense. Eventually this game may be a way to pad the stats of your bubble teams. Last year 10-2 Oklahoma was #12 and would have been first out of the new 12 team CFP and 9-3 LSU was #13. If the SEC could have those two teams play and winner get a bump over a team from another conference and allow its better teams like Texas and Alabama to rest their players and prep for the playoffs. I don’t think this iteration happens soon as teams like Mizzou and Ole Miss would want to claim a conference title more than resting their players for a playoff spot.
  14. They lost 29 scholarship players and 2 walk-ons plus 2 withdrew their names and stayed. Of the 29; 19 went to P5 programs, 8 went to G5 schools, and 2 are still in the portal. aggy brought in 28 transfers; of those 17 are from P5 programs, 9 from G5, and 2 from FCS In comparison, Texas lost 24 scholarship players, 1 withdrew, and 1 transferred in and out. Of the 24; 12 went to P5 programs, 8 went to G5 schools, and 4 are still in the portal. Texas brought in 10 transfers (plus one that transferred in and out); of those 8 were from P5 programs and 2 were from G5 schools. This doesn’t account for quality of talent just raw numbers.
  15. Not an Abbott fan, but serious question /nocr how does he control recapture, I thought that was required due to a court ruling a while back? Is it the implementation over it or something I’m missing?
  16. So dumb. I had to click the link and enlarge the image to get it to scan. No way that anybody will be able to get that to capture from their screen in real time. This is nothing more than putting on a show for the players/recruits.
  17. I don’t think that’s as done as you. The rules are like you state, but that does not mean they can’t be revised. I see a distinct difference between a practice squad player and someone on the travel roster (like there is in the NFL) the legal definitions just haven’t fully caught up with reality.
  18. Many people think it will come to an extreme but I predict a more logical conclusion for all involved is to break up the ACC keep the current conference model then breakaway with the P3 conferences. You’ll have the B1G/SEC on the major network spots with a few B12 games sprinkled in but mainly filling up tier 2 cable. You keep the Big 12 around to not piss off the government too much as they have 5 states that wouldn’t be included otherwise (and the #2/3 public schools in 5 other states as well). The Vandy and Northwesterns of the world will eventually be convinced to take a pay cut as the leagues shift to a performance/viewership payout model, as you can clearly see what happens if you piss off your money makers like USC and FSU, and being in the club at reduced shares is far better than being out of the club like WSU/OSU. I see this as a breakaway for most major team sports: football, m/w basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, w soccer; but I’m less sure about those with team and individual components like tennis, golf, t&f, cross country, swim/dive (as those might benefit from remaining with the NCAA and still competing with the Ivy League and Big West type schools) or more regional sports like m soccer, Hockey, LAX, FH (as those are not played significantly by this group of 60ish schools). I think the walk-ons might be one of the biggest reasons to breakaway as it seems most of the big name teams want the walk-ons not to count against the total roster spots.
  19. 50-59k (16) = NC State, Arizona, AZ State, GA Tech, Oregon, Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland, Utah, East Carolina, Minnesota, North Carolina, Stanford, Colorado, Kansas, K State Others who seat between 45-49k but could fudge the numbers to get to 50k because their single largest all time attendance is 50k+ (5) = Syracuse, Rice, UTEP, Baylor, TCU,
  20. What’s with the gap?
  21. Anyone not already in the Big Ten or SEC that has a stadium with less than 50k seats is highly unlikely to make it into a super league.
  22. They only go as west as Colorado, but if they were in the Northwest it would be a perfect fit for Oregon State.
  23. Sonny Dykes does not like the way this conversation is going…
  24. I think most people agree/concede that the SEC is virtually guaranteed 4 spots and the Big Ten 3, plus the 3 auto bids for the Big12/ACC/G5 and you’re at 10 with 2 spots left for: Notre Dame #2 Big 12 team #2 ACC team #4 Big Ten team #5 SEC team I have a hard time seeing a committee made out of people geographically dispersed across the county giving the SEC a 5th spot when they already have a third of the field.
  25. Pass. I think you’ll end up with 3 conferences ranging from 20 teams (like the SEC) to 24 teams like the Big12.
