  1. TV picks the time slots, they put the game where they think it will get the most eyeballs (and they are right) when we are in the SEC and can be the 230 game of the week exclusively for the conference it will be at 230. The SEC has a major built in audience in that CBS 230 window that isn’t profitable for ESPN to compete against (which is why ESPN paid $300 million for it). 11am: Texas/OU on ABC and Ohio St/Maryland on FOX and LSU/Mizzou (all undefeated but LSU) 230: Bama/aggy on CBS, Virginia Tech/Florida St on ABC, Syracuse/UNC on ESPN, UCF/Kansas on FOX (ESPN/FOX clearly sacrificed weaker games in this window) Prime: Notre Dame/Louisville on ABC, Kentucky/Georgia on ESPN, Michigan/Minnesota on NBC, and Fresno St/Wyoming on FOX
  2. I noticed they took down the flags too, but yeah…not going to buy 4 new ones for a single year. Will be interested to see if they put up new ones next year.
  3. Did Mike Slive attend this game? https://www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/313020245
  4. I agree with the others that there isn’t much out there yet and that this might be just wish casting by the Tiger fans. But looking through some other boards, this is the most recent post on it from a quasi reputable source. https://awfulannouncing.com/college-football/clemson-leave-acc-sooner-than-later.html And saw this on YouTube (just discussion, no news)
  5. USC at Colorado 7.2 million Kansas at Texas 3.3 million Utah at Oregon St 1.2 million Cincy at BYU 1.2 million (Friday) Iowa St at Oklahoma 800k WVU at TCU 700k Baylor at UCF 300k Houston at Tech 100k Arizona and ASU on PAC 12 Network (unrated) K State and Oklahoma St BYE
  6. Arkansas/aggy was a Tier 3 game this year (comparable to Mizzou/Vandy) and was on the SEC Network which does not release its viewership data.
  7. Nope just people complaining that heart reactions makes it looks like people love dead burned murder victims or what have you.
  8. Pretty funny but this is true…
  9. They get FOX’s 230 slot to themselves next year which is GREAT for the Big 12. Currently they share ABC with 40 P5 teams (PAC12(12), B12(14), ACC(14)=40) but next year they’ll share with 49 teams (Big12(16), ACC(17), SEC(16)=49) and ABC will have access to broadcast SEC games for the first time (despite the overhype they are the ones that historically have the highest ratings most weekends). ESPN this last weekend just put 3 SEC games in every available window on ESPN and put Texas on ABC in the 230 window. The only other teams were Clemson at the noon window and Notre Dame in prime time. ESPN this upcoming weekend is a similar story. UT/OU on ABC at noon, FSU at 230, ND in prime time; SEC on ESPN noon and prime windows with a ranked UNC covering the 230. Take away the ND away games and the the ACC gets about 1.5 games a week on ABC/ESPN and that’s with some bigger schools like FSU/Clemson. Maybe with Colorado/Prime the new Big 12 can have a similar slotting but with FOX having their pick of top games as well, I think they’ll average around 1 game a week on ABC/ESPN not including Thu/Fri games nor late kicks for their Western members.
  10. Should come out tomorrow here: https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-football-tv-ratings/
  11. Are they tailored?
  12. FSU, Clemson, UNC, and UVA are the correct adds. That package would be very beneficial for a myriad of reasons and gets the SEC to a round 20. Anything over that will be dilutive unless there is a shake up in college basketball (which I do see on the not too distant horizon) then schools like Kansas maybe Duke might have a shot but not before then.
  13. OU still hasn’t put the game away.
  14. Brent Venables takes recruits to Applebees to impress them.
  15. Don’t know, mostly just NextDoor bullshit speculation. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/afd-finds-body-while-responding-to-west-austin-grass-fire/
  16. Per NextDoor a body was dumped and burned and they are looking for any doorbell cam footage from around 440am.
  17. Army getting closer to replacing SMU in the American conference. Details below. https://sports.yahoo.com/army-could-be-joining-aac-in-the-coming-weeks-but-a-few-hurdles-remain-175403571.html
  18. All that is right except you’re glossing over that ESPN no longer has to auction anything for the SEC nor ACC they just pick and choose what goes where now since they own all the rights save for the ACC’s single game legacy Raycom deal now on the CW. Let’s just look at this week. SEC has their T1 game on CBS, 3 games on ESPN (main not 2/U), and 3 games on SECN. Texas is playing on ABC and Oklahoma on FS1. By adding UT/OU we’re not going to see fewer SEC games on ABC/ESPN, we’re going to see more because even the Tier 2 SEC games like OleMiss/LSU, UF/UK, Bama/MSU are likely worth more to the networks than the Big 12 game of the week which this week would WVU@TCU, both currently 3-1 but that game is on ESPN2. Arkansas/aggy and TN/SC are on SECN and likely would be considered more valued content than most Big 12 games. Sure they could get a small bump form Utah/Colorado but unless PrimeTime has staying power those school don’t historically move the needle enough to justify penciling them in a weekly spot on both FOX and ABC.
  19. I think that a fair assessment. I think with the Big Ten locking down 3 OTA slots weekly you’ll see a big push from the SEC to lock down 2 slots on ABC and maybe even 2 on ESPN as well. I see the Big 12 having a solid spot on FOX and a game on ESPN late kick as their regular line up. Sure they could grab another ESPN day spot or one of the remaining one on ABC for a really good game but so think those will be few and far between as the SEC+UT+OU will pretty much always have 3 games worth watching every week.
  20. Not a lawyer douche but the PAC12 has reportedly near $500 million dollars in assets. Going by how the PAC12 treated USC/UCLA and even more recently Colorado, WSU/OSU claim that every PAC12 member other than themselves have given up voting rights. The rest of the conference agrees they gave up voting rights on future conference decisions but are stating that they did NOT give up their rights to vote of issues related to the current final/season. It boils down to what is the legal definition of “Notice to Withdrawal”. WSU/OSU claim releasing statements saying they are leaving count while the others are stating that they have to officially inform the conference on letterhead or something before you can say they official withdrew. This is all semantics, because if the other 10 are allowed to vote they can dissolve the conference and distribute its assets plus take its NCAA tournament credits when them when they leave. So they are going to fight this out in court to see if WSU/OSU have control or not. If they do they likely will rebuild the PAC with the majority (if not all) of the MWC schools. If they do not then the PAC will be dissolved and they’ll likely just join the MWC. But the difference here is around $200+ million to WSU/OSU so don’t expect them to go quietly.
  21. Yes they won’t go to ESPN2/FS1 but other than that I guess we’ll have to disagree here. Multiple Tier One games have been placed on ESPN over the years. ESPN is going to push the SEC on ABC like crazy and the B12/ACC will have fewer OTA opportunities than they have in the past. If they were picking UT/OU to put on those OTA slots they won’t change their stripes when they still have the ability to put UT/OU and the rest of the SEC on ABC. Look at how the ACC has been used. That a preview of what the future Big 12 will look like minus FSU/Clemson/ND away games.
  22. The difference between the A and B package is the top 4 games. After that they are the same IIRC. What I saw rumored was those 4 games would be required to be on ABC. The contract stipulated how many games had to be on FOX but nothing specified how many were to be on ABC which was my point.
