  1. That's some deep shit. Roy Batty and Anton Chigurh are my favorite villains of all time. RIP Rutger
  2. It's fitting Adrian Peterson ended up broke. After all, he told us years ago that the NFL was modern slavery.
  3. I hope the wheel chair lady has a current and valid CDL. The victim may be entitled by compensation.
  4. That's not the point and they weren't trying to. This was 50's era Americanized Mexican food. A total throwback and that's what made it great. I was wondering about that. This kind of food is low cost high profit... I wonder if they shopped the business around at all or just want to liquidate fast. Fuck it... it'll probably be condos in a year anyways
  5. Fuck. My. Life. I remember when they still brought saltines to the table and the waiters (all with huge stomachs from eating there I am sure) wore those smoking jackets with food stains on them. This restaurant traumatized every woman I ever took there who was watching her waistline (which apparently was all of them, I guess), and it became my bros only go-to for lunch. This was my grandparent's Mexican food... a praline or sherbert with every meal. This place was everything that was still right in the world. Give me the David special with a tea and we're done here. Dude, this one hurts..
  6. Regarding the O-line, I'm not sure which is more eye opening to me - A) That we made the list at all despite not having an O-Lineman drafted in a decade B) This list bookends Mack's entire career at Texas yet he only recruited half the players on it. FUPM
  7. Hydration. Definitely hydration. I'd make a chart.
  8. Hard to figure since he spent so many seasons trying to lower them.
  9. I have been laughing at this for the last three days and randomly sending it to friends on my contact list with mixed results. I don't plan on stopping.
  10. MSG in sufficient quantities, it would seem, hits me like a high-octane saline laxative that gives a pinch of Copenhagen combined with my morning cup of coffee a serious run for their money. All I have to do is remember it's not a fart, do not fart, do not even think about farting, and waddle to nearest men's room. The results are epic. I swallowed some bubble gum accidentally in 1982 and I'm pretty sure I saw it in the toilet the last time I dined out for Asian. Good times.
  11. Everything I took away from the conversation pointed to food cost but i don't entirely understand it either. It would appear there's only one place left in Texas that still does whole head barbacoa, down in Brownsville, so @Brisketexan is correct... it's a home job now. While trying to price beef heads I came across this article (SIAP) that covers a lot of ground on the topic but for me left a few questions painfully unanswered, like, why the demise of these restaurants?
  12. Was about to start my own thread but found this one for the necro bump. I've been back in Texas almost 5 years, mostly hanging around San Antonio, and I am still trying to find the barbacoa of my youth. Somewhere in San Antonio around 1980 or 81' there was a run down gas station converted into a barbacoa stand. Only open on Sunday, a line around the corner, and piles of gelatinous hand-pulled meat on butcher paper that as far as I was concerned had come straight from heaven. I've hit some of the 'top' barbacoa places in San Antonio and it seems everyone is just using cheek meat now. In fact, I notice little to no difference between any of the places I've been to. At Martinez Bros. on Fredericksburg road they told me that whole head is just too expensive and that's why no one uses it. -Anybody- know a place in or around SA that still does?
  13. A Sunday lunch at Kim Phung in Austin once cost me my boxer shorts, my undershirt, and both socks. I made it as far as Pronto mart in Hyde Park and emerged from their bathroom barefooted and humbled 30 minutes later. A few years later I surrendered a pair of underwear to the restroom trash can in Pho Da Loi in Atlanta. Unsure where to turn, this thread is an inspiration to people like myself.
  14. Not that they needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious rattlesnake and uranium collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.
  15. He feasted his first year with Willie Taggert's players, fell completely flat last year, then retreated into his core values and used them as a pretext to manufacture a rebuild...thus lowering expectations in the process. With any luck it could buy him a few years which I'm sure is what he's hoping for.
  16. It's nice to see Nike's product decisions being dragged all over the map by the bitch-assed whims of the permanently offended. They and Kaepernick deserve each other.
  17. Well, it sounded like what Hicks was saying in the interview is that Saban knew he'd never outshine the legacy of Bear Bryant at Alabama. Instead, he'd prefer to create his own as the game's best turnaround artist and he knew, correctly, that he could win an NC at Texas. Really, though this all ended the way it should have. There you have the 2013 Alamo Bowl with Ol' butter teeth and his noodle armed quarterback who ends up scoring more points for the other team than our own. We get 56 yards passing on the day and Mack STILL...even in his last game Texas... can't get the fucking quarterback situation figured out. We close the season by losing back to back games against the kinds of teams that highlight exactly why the game has passed Mack Brown by. Fuck you. Pay me.
  18. I think we all knew Mack and Sallie didn't swing but after reading that I'm pretty certain
  19. On one hand, Olympic breakdancing would be so kick ass. On the other, this shit is getting out of control
  20. Chicken dinner. Not sure if Longo is a yes-man willing to be bridled by Mack's timid bullshit but that's exactly what's going to happen. Meanwhile, I'm very interested in seeing what Jay Bateman pulls off on defense. He'll have far more to work with than he did at Army and Mack is at least smart enough not to meddle with things he knows nothing about, like the defensive side of things, unless Greg Robinson is there to explain it to him.
