  1. Let’s talk about football. We really need Eagles on the field. I’m here thinking he will actually play and if he does he has more of a chance of making an impact. Outside of die hard Longhorn fans I’m not sure if this is on anybody’s radar.
  2. Sell to SF builders. We are a mechanical contractor. We had a pretty good slow down in March. April started bouncing back, May was good. This week and last we are back to 2019 numbers. I had a top 5 builder signed and the president of our company pulled the plug because he didn’t want to take that many homes at that margin. I understand but it’s a lot of money out of my future pocket.
  3. What city? That seems like a pretty small area but overall I’ve gotten quotes much higher than that to install a walkway with the same materials.our walkway would be around 90 ft though
  4. Not saying they are the ones showing up to hospitals, but if you look at some data they could be spreading it at a higher rate than any other parts of our society. As my post points out, there is a divide. I have worked remotely for 3 months, our other guys have shifted schedules to limit exposure. Our subs have to come by the warehouse every morning. There is no way to shift the business model. .I strongly believe that most of the hysteria is overblown and testing positive doesn’t necessarily mean much. Also if Texas is lumping antibody rest in as well it’s completely useless. But our subs are probably spreading to more at risk population. Here is an excerpt from the Austin Business Journal: Targeted testing of about 127 people occurred at two different construction sites on May 7 and 8. The portion of tests that came back positive for Covid-19 was 7.8% and 7.9%, respectively. Escott said that may seem like a low number, but local drive-thru testing has a positive testing rate around 2.3%. "So this is more than triple the rest of the community's rate of positivity," Escott said. "So this is concerning. This does indicate that we need further testing in this community." Escott said they've found "some challenges associated with the testing at construction sites," citing ongoing concerns about the inability to work after a positive Covid-19 test. "Quite frankly, there's a disincentive right now for people to get tested," Escott said. "Because if they test positive, then they're out of work and, in some circumstances, they don't have assurances of a paycheck."
  5. That’s 100% what’s happening. I run sales and more of the office stuff for a mechanical contractor here in Austin. I used to go into the shop multiple times per week. I have not been in since early March. We have not slowed down. Our full time supervisors and production manager still go in but not in the morning rush. There is nothing we can do about the warehouse and subs picking up materials, they have to come to the shop every morning. We check temperatures daily and have provided masks. One thing. We have noticed as only one guy from a crew comes in because the don’t want to risk getting their temperatures taken and not be sent with work. We do SF so distancing on the job is fine. The real hot beds are the Mf and commercial jobs. The other thing is a lot of subs live with a lot of other essential workers and they are all still spreading out over the city and coming back home every night in crammed living situations.
  6. Ya we had a 5-7 day break from Corona coverage. Now they will start driving the next outbreak from the protesters. They also are already driving how bad the winter is going to be. Im not saying there won’t be a second wave but this is a never ending target for some.
  7. No shit. We are used to rattle snakes but we have seen 2-3 corals this year. Our friends that live in SA at Bitters and Blanco have found a few as well. 2020 is all kinds of crazy.
  8. I hope stuff like this stays. The casino floors are absolutely germ ridden. Wiping down chips, people washing hands and actually sanitizing the tables and chairs would go a long way.
  9. Wife doesn’t understand the concept of time. We have been together 14 years so I am used to it but it’s getting on my damn nerves to treat other people that way as we get older and everybody has kids and jobs and doesn’t have an hour to wait on people. Yesterday we were supposed to be in San Antonio between 3-4 to take her 92 grandmother dinner. We live in the Westlake area. Grandma lives alone and is pretty independent but recently my wife’s mother passed so she is very needy and needs our attention and help. Around noon I decide to get some yard work in. I tell her to be ready by 1:30 knowing she won’t be ready until 2:30 but we will still hit our window in SA. I come back inside the house around 1:45 to shower and get ready. She’s not there, she has decided she had time to go to Central Market. She gets back home at 3:15 and we don’t get to SA until 5. She acts like it is no big issue because grandma has no where to be but I could tell when we got there that she had been waiting for us for a couple of hours and was anxious. She’s 92.
  10. I back in my truck or wife’s suv if I’m unloading or loading a lot of stuff.
  11. It’s viability is completely dependent on classes being held on campus this fall. It’s looking like that will happen so Abels will have no problems. Students have not been around Austin since the end of February.
  12. Just bought a new house and the previous owner did nothing for the grass. Its Bermuda but with a ton of weeds? What’s the best way to start regrowing the Bermuda? I was thinking some type of weed killer, then a couple of trucks of top soil and then Bermuda seed. Would this work? How close together can I do all of that? Should I aerate? Also yard is about 1/3 of an acre, so I’m not looking to resod unless that is the only option.
  13. Watch YouTube videos. Make sure truck has brake controller and get an anti sway hitch.
  14. First thing is you need to be somewhere with hookups if you are staying a week with a family. My wife and I can fill they gray tank which is 41 gallons in a 3 day weekend. The black tank has plenty of capacity. Pretty much cooking/cleaning and showers for a family will be a lot with out sewer hookups
  15. My best friends dad growing up was murdered between our freshman and sophomore year of high school. My buddy took about 10 years to get straight and off the booze and hard drugs. Still unsolved but there was a lot of people that thought his girlfriend at the time did it. Our friend was Colton Pitonyak’s big brother in Delt.
  16. This thread is so tough sometimes. Our almost 13 year old lab scares me from time to time. She has a tumor now on her paw. She can still jump on the bed and is still loving to eat and go on short walks. On a more positive note we moved into a new hood and we found this gem of a greenbelt. I can only take the young’n. 17. Also those death numbers have a few thousand added. Other sources still show under 80k. I know it’s a small difference in a huge number but just tacking another 6k presumptive deaths is misleading.
  18. We went last year and I have a ton of Marriott points so we stayed at the Marriott in Lihue. Great pool but the rooms needed an update. It was also very convenient to get around the rest of the island. Rent a car, we cheesed it up and got a convertible Mustang. It was a fun car to cruise in for the week.
  19. Peter Warrick. I thought he was going to be a HOFer in the NFL. Only topped 800 yards one season.
  20. Nice little breakfast. English muffin, left over brisket, fried egg and guacamole, onions and cilantro
  21. We have a Winnebago 22ft trailer. I have rented it out on Outdoorsy for the last 2 years and have made around $8k. I pulled it off the market in February. Not corona related, I just got tired of cleaning it and having people use it. 95% of the renters were great and I delivered it a few times. I charged $200 for delivery. With the trailer being 5k lbs we never had an issue with vehicles not being able to pull or missing a brake controller besides once and we just did not rent to them. I will probably re list it in the fall but I am enjoying not having the second job.
