  1. Dumb question, are the equity grids that TCAD uses accessible to the public?
  2. Mighty Car Mods.
  3. I would look at the Kias. Quality for the Korean brands has gone way up in the past 10 years - like old school Honda reliability.
  4. The guy was leaning the bike pretty hard, and his body position sucked. When he moved his foot, he shifted his butt and leaned the bike even further. Everything that he did to adjust his foot led to the crash - he put more pressure into the bars with his hands, which likely caused the front end to lose grip. At that lean angle, it was the wrong time to make adjustments like that. If he'd had his head on the inside of the bars (in line with the left mirror, or even further over), he'd have had a much larger safety margin at that speed. Edit - I thought that section of road looked familiar - it's mentioned in the comments, but there's also a bump in that turn that takes out a ton of riders. Perfect storm.
  5. Any chance you can tell me what they are before he posts them?
  6. Any idea how long it will take to get the test results from the samples that were sent out? Seems like that will be a driver for the next run.
  7. Schwab interface is complete dog shit.
  8. Will it come back to save Gotham?
  9. I'm clearly doing the stonk thing wrong, as @Harrison Stafford sent me down a wormhole with AMYZF. I know it's purely speculative, but anyone know if it's a stronger play than ABML (ABTC)? AMYZF has a patented process, ABML is claiming a proprietary process and has some former Tesla guys on board. Just trying to figure out which one is more legit.
  10. Going to be game changer - double wishbone front suspension is a pretty serious statement from Porsche, as great as the handling is on the previous models, this is going to be a major improvement. They also keep pushing the envelope with aero, and I'm sure this thing will stick like glue.
  11. Extremely inconsistent speed on the highway, or any two lane road. I pull into the middle lane, because I have lane discipline. If you came up on my ass at 95, and I'm doing 85, you damn well better continue to do 95. But no, 9 times out of 10, I'll clear the lane with plenty of clearance, and then the dipshit will slow down next to me in the left lane, and ultimately box me in behind someone else in the middle lane doing 70.
  12. Not sure how far away from your 20's you are, but I'd consider the adventure bikes, as well. Ducati Multistrada (high-end), or Yamaha Tracer (reasonable). There are guys that absolutely love Goldwings, but there's a ton of other cool bikes out there, now. If you want a fun rabbit hole to go down, check out: ADVRider
  13. Beautiful!
  14. Saw an orange C8 out at COTA, two weekends ago, and the proportions just struck me as wrong. It's almost like a caricature of a Ferrari 430: rear fenders are a too slab sided, and the front end just looked too high. I saw a white one on the road, yesterday. It was just a drive by, but for some reason, it looked a lot better in white. Still waiting to pass judgement.
  15. By all accounts, the Bonnevilles are great bikes. I haven't ridden one, but I'm still stupid enough to want a fast bike. Class is a great introduction, but I'd encourage you to look at it as the first of many. Riding is a skill that requires constant development. The more you educate yourself, the less likely you are to get killed.
  16. Thanks! So, sounds like I wasn't overthinking it.
  17. Bradford and Diamond run about the same, price-wise. Think we're looking at around $30k, but I plan to get a quote, next week. Acrylic units we considered were around $16-20k. So, it's going to cost about $10k to make the wife happy. Pretty sure that's cheap from what I've read on the other Surly threads . . .
  18. Nowhere near Surly level of collecting, but I just gave my dad my CZ SP-01 and upgraded to a Shadow 2. Last 4 guns have been CZ variants (Dan Wesson Valor, SP-01, SP-01 Tactical, Shadow 2) and other than an STI, I can't think of anything outside the CZ range that I want.
  19. Looking to do a hot tub in our backyard. Wife doesn't like the looks of the acrylic models, and we would like to get a chiller for it, to make it usable in the Austin summers. That said, she's looking at getting a built in unit from a pool company. The only other option that I seem to be able to sell her on is a stainless steel unit (Bradford). My big concern is that I don't want to be buying a problem, and the built-in unit seems like it has a high probability of failure, as everything is set in concrete, and the filter/pumps/heater are remotely located. Am I overthinking this, or is my wife setting us up to have a concrete "water feature" in 10 years?
  20. That's a beautiful sport tourer!
  21. Nice humble brag about your wife knowing where the blinker is.
  22. It's been 10 years since I ran them, but when I had them, I absolutely swore by them. I had them on a RWD BMW 3 series, and it made it through everything that upstate New York could throw at it. And by "made it through," I mean handled flawlessly. Best example was coming over a sweeping overpass carrying a bit more speed than was responsible, realizing that it had iced over, and deftly driving around the 3 other cars that had crashed into the guard rail (not on Nokian snows).
  23. That could have been my wife . . .
  24. Definitely an installer that you should keep using.
  25. My mom had a Chrysler Reliant wagon (in green), and followed that up with a Chrysler New Yorker (in gold). I can't imagine that there are that many people in the world that owned one Chrysler K car, and thought, "This is great, I think I'll buy another!"
