  1. Rumor was that Maggie was Al Stahaley's main squeeze and Austin's first GoGo dancer.
  2. Look closely at the Doss photo. The men wore suits and ties and fedoras to football games. Different time.
  3. Mother used to drive and park between the Freshman Field and the stadium so I could get autographs from the players as they were leaving practice and going back to the locker room. Likely she was also seeing how the young men looked, but I got lots of good autographs. Bobby Lackey is one I remember, and Johnny Treadwell. Treadwell signed my stuffed Bevo across the butthole. He got a chuckle when he handed it back to me. I still have that stuffed Bevo. I'd part with just about any possession I have before I'd let that Bevo go. Mom taught me the words to the songs and some of the cheers. I think she graduated in '40 or '41. She made flash cards with the players names and numbers and had me grill her so she could know who was playing when she and Dad went to games. Thanks Mom. You gave me wonderful memories. No traffic. No hassle parking. I guess the guys walked across Waller Creek, but I don't remember them having wet shoes. I have a vague memory of going on the Freshman field myself after a game and seeing grass burrs on the field. Damn man! Tough kids.
  4. Photo is taken from the east...north east technically. Billy Goat Hill is where it should be.
  5. OP knows his Texas football history and it is an interesting read...a welcome variance from the constant "We suck" mantra. I find it interesting to think back and realize that Bible came here from Nebraska and A&M before. It's impossible to know if the sequence of events back then, 70+ years ago, has anything to do with today's football program, but a little look at history adds some patina to an otherwise drab season.
  6. You are correct, Suzi, I never went to "tu" whatever the fuck that is. I did, however, attend The University of Texas.
  7. It’s like they’re addicted to the sound of their own voice. Like the vibrations of their larynx stimulates the sinuses in their skull in an orgasm like manner. Like they can’t stop talking because they’re just about to nut.
  8. It's not going to get fixed. There was a time when kids were thrilled at the idea of playing for The Texas Longhorns just for the honor of playing for the great school and for the love of the game. Very few kids now seem to play for the love of the game. They are here to try to maximize their pro contract...that they won't get...and to showboat with their hand jive end zone choreography like 8 year old girls on the playground. It's not going to get fixed.
  9. I get it. It's like putting a spoiler on a '57 Chevy, but coachtex's kit won't fit in the corner of a closet.
  10. We go through about 500 pages per week. Do not need color, but probably unavoidable. Suggestions please.
  11. Please recommend an electronic set. I'm a guitar player but always enjoyed banging on the drummers kit when he was away. I'm old and retired and would like to use an electronic set for exercise...all drummers work up a sweat, right? More fun than a treadmill, right? Nothing fancy. Easy to break down and store. Recommendations please.
  12. I live in a valley where fog and humidity lingers frequently. I often have condensation on the outside of the windows from the spouse jacking the AC to frigid over night, but that's another subject. I am constantly fighting humidity and "musty smell" so I run room dehumidifiers which do okay but not great and are a pain. It's time to replace the HVAC and I've asked several installers about a separate whole house dehumidifier. They all say a variable speed HVAC will do the job. I still think I would like the option of running a separate whole house dehumidifier when it's humid but the air temp doesn't justify turning on the HVAC. Thoughts please.
  13. Columbia SC PBS doing a show on my band mate from 50 years ago. He went on the be good. I went on to watch him play. 7 PM central. Error in above. PBS has nothing to do with this. Was all COLA Jazz Foundation
  14. I did not know the chick from Myth Busters was a Celtic fiddler.
  15. "By God, I'm going to solidify that with this project"...sounds like somebody skipped a few doses of lithium.
  16. That's gonna need some big assed airconditioners. People who don't live here can't imagine the heat and humidity of Austin.
  17. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: The Art and Creation of Walt Disney's Classic Animated Film by J.B. Kaufman
  18. My first childhood hero. We used to be able to run on to the field after games. I talked him out of his chin strap. He balked, saying that breaking in new ones chaffed his skin, but he gave it to me anyway. I Still have it. Thanks Mr. Lackey.
  19. ...I was thinking dedicated home bar, but I don't need encouragement to drink more. In pantry it is.
  20. Thanks, Gil. I think you just pointed out that I'm over thinking it. I was thinking of making a dedicated pantry, but in truth that is not required. Just roll the bastard in with the rest of the stuff and roll out when needed.
  21. I obviously have some research to do. No, taps do not come up through counter top. I am thinking of something that keeps it totally hidden when not in use, hence the heavy duty slide out drawer. I guess more like a thin pantry than a cabinet, and fold away doors. I'm wanting to avoid an appliance standing out in the middle of the floor and also want to minimize the noise of the compressor. The more I think about it the more impractical it seems, but keg beer is significantly better, in my thinking. I probably don't drink enough to justify this and maybe I should just keep one in the garage for parties. Still, I welcome your ideas. This is a once in a lifetime build and I wanted to trick out the living area.
