  1. This might be more appropriate in the food forum, but this is mostly about placement and practicality. Doing major remodel and want two tap kegerator which I will put in a cabinet, like a built in appliance. Will put on heavy duty slide out drawer for ease of servicing. Will have vent in door for air circulation. Obviously will need electric run to that section of cabinet. What else do I need to think about for placement, servicing and convenience? Have I lost my mind? Next, who in Austin do I need to talk to about purchasing and servicing? If this is indeed too impractical, what is an alternative for fresh beer? Growlers seem too small. It would mostly be for entertaining as I like beer, but won't be drinking a keg a week.
  2. The fact that I just spent 5 minutes of my life extracting a half dozen pair of new socks from the plastic barbs used in packaging them. Actually, packaging in general pisses me off. I can't open a bottle of catsup or a vial of medicine without a blade knife and a pair of needle nose pliers. All because some dick head tried to extort Johnson and Johnson 40 years ago.
  3. A plate of Jake’s fried oysters cost me several thousand dollars years ago. Pearl in one and I chomped with beer fueled vigor and it perfectly landed between four molars cracking all four. Several crowns and a couple of root canals later and I am more cautious with fried O’s. Plate of Jake’s O’s with onion rings was spectacular regardless of the stray pearl.
  4. September 20, 1958. Win over Georgia at Memorial Stadium. The first of many attendances in the "Knot Hole" section. 50 cent entry fee. Also the year my mother got a speeding ticket rushing to the airport taking us kids to greet the team coming home from defeating OU for the first time in many years. Austin Municipal Airport. They flew Braniff. Bobby Lackey threw the tying pass, kicked the go ahead PAT, and intercepted the pass that killed OU's come back attempt. Childhood hero? You bet!
  5. Me: You want some of this watermelon I cut up? Her: No thanks. My stomach is just now feeling better. You know how I sometimes can't eat watermelon because it upsets my stomach. I heard people of Mediterranean descent can't eat watermelon. Maybe it's my Italian descent, but my sister can eat watermelon. I like watermelon because it is so refreshing sometimes, but I can't eat it, probably because of my Italian heritage. I wish it didn't hurt my stomach because I do enjoy the refreshing nature of it. My stomach is better now than it was for the past week, so maybe I could try just a bite, but probably not. It's probably better to not chance it. It's because of my Italian descent. There's just some things I can't eat, even though my sister can. Me: Silent. I wanted to tell her she could have stopped at "No thanks", but I didn't want to get the "tone" look. She has a wicked tone look.
  6. I know a tiny bit about coins, but nothing about bills. I have inherited several 20's, 50's, and 100's tucked away since 2005. Some appear uncirculated, some just very good condition (not a statement of grade, just my uneducated comment on condition). Not sequential serial numbers. Series 1996. Looks like uncle just went to the bank and asked for "new" bills. Is there any collectable value or do I just take to the HEB, assuming it's open?
  7. 2nd Moderna 23 hours ago. Nothing but sore arm until about noon today. Sleepy and tired now but still moving.
  8. SIAP. Water off for 3 days. Then low pressure for 1 day. Now about 2/3 pressure for 12 hours. Water heater pilot light on and heater flame comes on occasionally , but water never gets as hot as before event. i'd sure like to get a shower. Any thoughts? I know it will take time to heat but it's been 12 hours.
  9. Water just went off. Is there really a reason to turn it off at the street since none is coming in from there. Faucets all gurgled like they were emptying backwards when water went off.
  10. I have a sink and toilet on northeast wall that stopped running at 4AM Monday in spite of slow dripping and flushing every 2-3 hours. Just now started working with no water in cabinet or on floor. Is it possible for pipes to freeze “just a little bit” and then start working again with no return of heat in the house and no apparent leaking? I’m perplexed but happy, unless the leak reveals later.
  11. Got first dose Moderna at Delco center today at noon. 50 minutes from entering the parking lot to exit. So far no symptoms, but I'm sure I'll start to ache before long. I had flash backs to getting the Polio Vaccine at Maplewood Elementary School gym...so you know how I qualified this time.
  12. Not sure where to put this. https://science.sciencemag.org/content/early/2021/01/22/science.abf4058
  13. Okay, gave the pile of equipment to Habitat. Now I need to hook up Spectrum. They gave me a bag of stuff, but no guidance. First question. in my "media closet" left over from the previous owners, how do I know which cable is incoming from Spectrum. I will take a chance with the one on the splitter that says "incoming", but there are several splitters and I'd like to tie into the main coax. Short of connecting a tv to each of the 15-20 loose wires, is there a way to tell if a coax has signal?
  14. I was very skeptical, but got some tumeric curcumin complex, and damned if my knees didn't stop hurting. I still can't believe it, but after 3 months knees still better.
  15. I'm in Austin. Moving in to new house which was previously wired for AV. Previous owner took much, but not all of the equipment, but there is a "pile" of amps subs etc. There is a dedicated equipment closet, but nothing there but wires sticking out that went from AV closet to essentially every room in the house. I have no clue where wires go and don't have the time or skill to trace every wire. The people I have called are only interested in new install, not figuring out an existing install. Who should I call in Austin? I will probably upgrade to some of their equipment, but presently I just need the basics.

I'm getting rid of part of my collection. None of the stores are interested in classical, which is most, although not all, of the collection. Some really old stuff I inherited from my mother, probably from the 50's and 60's. Majority still in shrink wrap from Rose Records in Chicago. About 20 years ago they sold cutouts and I bought hundreds. 500-600 total. Some limited numbers of opera, country and rock. I'll give them to someone who will keep them out of the landfill. The catch is...you have to take them all and you have to come get them. They are nicely boxed so can be stored easily, but will take up about 4 3ft. shelves. In Austin.
  18. Yes. Have pulled aerators and have cleaned problem shower heads and have replaced toilet fill valves. Problem is upstream of those items.
  19. Restricts flow in several, but not all faucets and toilets. One shower just a drip. Have cleaned shower head with no result.
  20. City replaced 50+ year old water lines to neighborhood which dislodged sediment which moved in to home water lines. Is there any technique for removing sediment in the home lines other than re-plumbing the whole house? I've seen septic lines cleared with compressed air, can this be done whole house? Is there some way to inject vinegar or phosphoric acid in to the lines?
  21. Goodwill is the place I'm talking about that always tells me "we don't take that". Maybe I just piss them off.
  22. Off topic, but sort of in the same chapter. Where does one get rid of stuff? Lumbar from old projects. Outgrown clothes, still good but too tight. Those bolts and screws mentioned above. Half bottles of cleaning supplies. Stuff that still has some use...too good to just throw away, but I don't need it and I don't want to drive to a dozen places only to have them tell me "we don't take that".
