  1. If you're serious, go to a doctor. Something is making your lower body retain water which sluffs off when you lay down and gravity helps expel the water.
  2. ...unlike most people...like me. Playing guitar is hard. Not so much the actual act of playing, which is difficult enough, but the act of keeping up with it. I used to be okay, then job and marriage and kids and life got in the way. So I put it down. I put it down for years thinking that some day, some day I'd pick it back up. So the kids grew up. The wife didn't want so much of my time. I picked it back up. Dammit!! My fingers won't do what my mind is telling them to do. All that muscle memory, gone. All those song structures, gone. All that hand strength, gone. But I soldiered on. It started coming back. Then my mother got sick and needed lots of care, and my time. Well, she died and I took guitar back up, but damn, no strength. No callouses. Start from the beginning. Then Dad got sick and needed lots of care, and my time, and... The point of my whining tirade is that guitar must be kept up. You have to play, at least a little, every day. It takes two weeks to get callouses. It takes two days for them to go away. You gotta really want it. Some days I want it. Some days...I'm too busy and lose everything...again. Playing guitar is hard.
  3. Each day as she walks by the sea She looks straight ahead...not at me close
  4. I believe you intended to say, watch this if you want to weep on a Tuesday morning.
  5. Nothing worse than a depressed kid. It eats at you every minute of every day.
  6. ...ok. If you just gotta get your purse, reach in the back seat and get it, but please don't open it or we'll never get out of here. No! Please! Noooooo!!!
  7. Put it in park. Turn off the ignition. Get out of the car. GET OUT OF THE FUCKING CAR!!
  8. I don't remember the codes but they were each one listed on my receipt. I think this guy set up his office system to bill the maximum number of codes for each visit. I don't think all docs do that at all but some do. Worse is the corporate medicine that has taken over. No matter how well intentioned the doc is they are pushed by the "company " to rush and see as many patients a day as possible. I had a pcp that I loved. Smart. Up to date. He finally quit because the company that bought out his partnership wouldn't let him practice up to the standard he had practiced over the years. I respect him for quitting rather than practicing medicine that he considered substandard.
  9. I really like the way Sabrina...uh, sings
  10. Okay. I'm going to say this is the happiest song in the world. If not number 1 there are not many ahead of it.
  11. Went for "follow up" visit to sleep specialist who prescribes my cpap. 1) see nurse practitioner who takes follow up notes. Code 1. 2) See dme who has the machine and supplies. Code 2. 3) See nurse "specialist" who shows me how to use the machine...in the event I have forgotten over the 20 years I have been using. Code 3. 4) Doctor comes in, slaps me on the shoulder, says "You look good". Leaves after 20 second "visit". Code 4. 4 billable codes in a 15 minute visit.
  12. Try to look at it this way, the eating, drinking, gambling, etc. are actually diversions to occupy long stretches of time used to travel large distances. What you see at these distances is the actual point of a cruise. Go to the ship's library and study about your destinations. You have the free time to do this since you dont "gotta go hit the tables". When you get to these destinations reinforce what you learned in the ship's library, go to the significant historical points rather than seeking out a bar or restaurant. Study the ship. Take a tour of the engine room if that is offered. Take a tour of the bridge if offered. Sit and watch the animals which are different from land animals. Watch a crew member and study his job. What does it take to operate a ship? Enjoy your steps with the fascinating view you will have as opposed to just "around the block". Smell the air. Use the stairs and go explore other areas of the ship. Check out the crew's quarters. Check out the posh upper floor. Walk slowly, you are "doing and activity" not just killing time. Watch the crew when they dock the ship. At night go look at the stars which will be fantastic since you are away from most light pollution. You are in a different world. Study it. Enjoy it. Don't be in a rush. Slow down and really absorb your surroundings. Learn something. You have freed up much free time that in the past was used on the things you now avoid. Fill that new time with activities, don't let be a burden of temptation. Relax. You don't have to rush to the bar. Use the cruise for it's "real" purpose, not for the diversions offered.
  13. I think all avenues are plausible. It may be that the "what are you getting" syndrome, while starting as a cultural artifact, may have been so powerful that it became part of the female dna. But bottom line, we will never really know because it makes no sense and is unknowable to the more rational male mind.
  14. I know I'm straying from the spirit of this thread but I just had a memory, and by God it ain't often that my mind works well enough to cough up a memory, so let me postulate while throwing out some ancient history. Back when I was in the dating stage of life one would ask a girl out "to dinner". That was sort of a formal thing, more formal than just a movie or something. Well you take your surry with the fringe on top and go pick up the lass and surry her to the establishment. Back then it was expected that the guy would pay for the gals dinner. Out of kindness or nervousness she would ask "what are you getting?" so she would have some idea of how much you were willing/able to pay. Sort of an unspoken courtesy I suppose. My postulation is that this behavior became ingrained in the female culture. I'm probably full of shit but I didn't want to waste that ancient memory. Carry on.
  15. I'm still intrigued by the Oreos on the toaster. Is that a thing? Should I be doing that? Are we toasting Oreos?
  16. Probably the most difficult and best thing you've done in your life. Congratulations man.
  17. That is a nice laundry room. Maybe you could punch out the window and install a laundry chute so you can easily chute all that crap outside and be able to enjoy the intended ambiance.
  18. Come on man! Holding hands in public is sure puss, and no one wants to put up with the River Walk unless there's sure puss at the end.
  19. Get in the groove! Get! In! The! Groove! Stay in it!
