    It's Piss.

Excellent movie reference...one of Dave Chappelle's finest performances.
  2. Pineapple is my favorite...cream cheese is my 2nd favorite. Who cares about the rest?
  3. I remember reading it when it was originally posted on HF and crying laughing. Each year since then has been the same, and this year was no different.

Your post made me laugh pretty hard as well. I was drunk-posting last night so that’s where the vitriol came from. I was childishly expecting a win to make the weekend “perfect” for my 9 yo son since he chose this trip as his birthday present. I used to put a lot of stock in this team but we had a family tragedy involving one of my other sons and a near tragedy involving the same son (he was severely injured) in March and May of 2020, respectively. Those events have changed my perspective on life drastically. Now I’m seeking maximum fun at all times since life is short. As for the trip, I failed to mention that we loved every second except for the play on the field. ‘Horns down doesn’t bother me and we saw plenty of it and in only a couple of instances was it directed toward my son and I, but I took it as good-natured ribbing since they did it with smiles on their faces. Maybe I’m naive on that and they were being passive aggressive, but I don’t really care to overthink it. People were extremely nice and welcoming everywhere we went. I am from a farming community myself (Taylor…yeah that one) so I appreciate farming and I think farms are beautiful no matter the topography. I told several folks it was good to see farming alive and well. Missouri and Iowa both have some beautiful farmland and cool (again, just my opinion) traditional red barns. I love all of that stuff even more now that I live in a suburb with a population above 250K, but I realize I’m probably in the minority there. In my opinion Ames is a very cool college town and I thought the tailgating scene was awesome. Their band was playing at one of the tailgating areas pregame and I liked that. The stadium is nice and easy to navigate, and getting in and out was a breeze. It was a great crowd and they really support their hometown team. My only constructive criticism of the stadium experience was the piped in noise. I thought there was too much of it and it’s way too loud, but that’s probably no different than most other P5 stadiums, including DKR. Overall I’m a fan of the trip. I sure felt like I was winning as a Dad when my son told me it was his favorite present he’s ever received.

We’re back at the hotel in Ankeny. The trip was overall awesome, even though I almost gouged my eyes out watching this stupid team. Thanks@Al_4_ISU for the recs. We ate at Uptown Food & Beverage Co. in Ankeny last night. My burger was meh but the atmosphere and local beer were good. Today we had breakfast at Main Street Bakery and liked it a lot. Then we went to Ledges State Park and loved our hike. Very good scenery there. Lunch was at Cornbred and it was quite good. They are short-staffed so it took 2 hours from the time we arrived until we finished eating. Tried some Alluvial beers that I liked. Ended up not playing golf but did get to the tailgating area a couple hours early hoping to meet some folks. We did meet a few people and the locals seemed surprised that we drove from Dallas for the game…I guess they’re not used to folks coming for TX for games. All in all it was a fantastic trip and I’m just happy we got to do it. Fuck this team and fuck OU. I’m sucking down Makers, Bud Lights and Dominoes pizza watching the AZ/USC game in the hotel. They don’t serve beer in the stadium so I had to watch this piece of shit team buzzed in the first half and sober in the second. Holy shit, where’s the Tylenol?
  7. 1989 Rice game. My uncle (Dad’s brother) was a student at UT and he took my first cousin and I to the game. We were fans before but after that game it was set in stone. It was the game where we scored with like 2 seconds on the clock but the clock went to zero and the fans rushed the field, only to retreat for one more play. After the game we played cup football on the field. I’ve been to at least 75 games in my life, including 17 in the Cotton Bowl on the 2nd Saturday in October. My oldest son has been to 4 and will attend his 5th tomorrow.
  8. Agree. How do we know humans on Earth aren’t the most intelligent life form in the Universe? Bring on the war and let’s find out.
  9. School starts for the wife and kids tomorrow, so tonight is leftover naoch. Ingredients are from local Mexican joint and leftover grilled chicken.
  10. We went Halloween weekend of ‘20. Stayed in Hochatown at a cabin called the Jolly Roger. There were around 20 of us in all and we had a blast. Did a guided fishing tour on Broken Bow Lake that was fun. That’s a beautiful lake. The kids loved the dinosaur and mining place. They all got to help the blacksmith work. Grateful Head was the only restaurant we tried. It was takeout and just fine. All other meals were cooked at the cabin. Watched Joseph Ossai sack Spencer Sanders to seal the game in OT while I was there, so it made the stay better since I had to share the cabin with a bunch of Sooners.
  11. We went to Port A in June. The wife and I took our 2 boys (8 & 5) to Lady Lex and the Whataburger by the Sea. It’s was a great day. We spent 2 hours at the Lexington and I could have stayed for 6. 2-story Whataburger was good and the kids loved that as well. I’ve been to the aquarium but I prefer the Lexington.
  12. I’m pissed they put a Gumby’s in SM after I graduated.
  13. I just said a prayer for you, Brisket. I assume all subsequent posts in the Shank thread under your handle will be homages to her.
  14. Yep, you and I traded a few DMs in December about this.

My oldest son turns 9 in September and for his present he wants to go to the game in Ames on 11/6. It’ll be just the 2 of us, and we are road-tripping so we can stop and set foot in all the states we possibly can both ways of the trip. He has a goal of visiting all 50 states as well as all Big 12 stadiums and it’s my job as a Dad to get him started. We went to Amon Carter in ‘19 and were planning to go to Manhattan last year but you know how that turned out. The plan is to leave Mckinney Thursday after school and get to Tulsa, stay the night and drive to Ames on Friday. We’d like to squeeze in a round of golf Friday afternoon or Saturday morning (if it’s a night game). Anyway, I’m seeking advice on a good golf course that’s kid friendly (kid isn’t great but knows what he’s doing on the course), bars, restaurants and any other cool historic/museum type shit we can try to fit in. He and I share a love of UT sports, golf, geography, history and a fascination with tornadoes. Whatcha got? Paging @All_4_ISU. Gracias.
  20. http://Into Thin Air: What happened to nine-year-old Michael J Woodward? https://debrabuck.medium.com/into-thin-air-what-happened-to-nine-year-old-michael-j-woodward-44873ff9dcef Michael was my Mom’s 1st cousin. Her uncle Joe was from Temple but stationed at Ft. Jackson at the time. Although not technically a murder since no body was ever found, the whole family feels like he’s deceased. http:// https://www.fox7austin.com/news/domestic-violence-murder-rate-up-more-shelters-needed Sadly I can’t find a news story on the murder-suicide, but Hope Buzan was my 3rd cousin. I only met her a few times even though we both grew up in the same area. Oddly enough, she dated my 1st cousin on my other side of the family for a couple of years (from Lexington). Kinda weird but then again, there ain’t a whole lot of normal going on in the Taylor-Thrall-Thorndale-Lexington Metro Area. My great uncle (her Dad) has been a mess ever since. Can’t find the story but a family friend named David Threadgill from Taylor was robbed and murdered by repeated blows to the head with a glass ketchup bottle as he slept in his hotel room in Vegas. I was around 10 at the time and my Dad and I played golf with him a few weeks before the murder.
  21. My pig found itself smart enough to hop over the barrier from his pen to the next pen and eat all of that pig’s food, and go to the next one and eat all of that pig’s food, and the next one and eat all of that pig’s food and make his way back in time so when it was my time to feed him he had already eaten 3 meals and was sitting there waiting for me and I would feed him and he would eat that and that’s why he gained so much weight and got sifted at the fat stock show.
