  1. You make a decent point. I’m surprised he hasn’t promised autonomous flying electric cars yet. The rubes would eat that shit up and put $100,000 deposits down just like they did with the $50,000 deposits for the roadster that has never materialized.
  2. This is a tired trope that needs to die. She’s being doing interviews left and right for the last two weeks with a bunch more scheduled including the CNN town hall.
  3. I was surprised as well when I learned this. They bought land on the border near SpaceX during the Trump administration using crowdsourced funds in order to block border wall construction. SpaceX has been trespassing on that land using it as a staging area for construction. They recently sued SpaceX and Elon and have said they will distribute any proceeds of the lawsuit to the users that provided crowdsource funds.
  4. Anyone have visibility on Rafael’s calendar for the next two Saturdays?
  5. Have they released schedules yet? I haven’t seen anything and I’m curious about the timing.
  6. Another question, is Tesla going to ditch the Supercharger network for inductive charging or are they going to have to create an entirely new network for the robotaxis and run two different networks in parallel? What’s the point of having the robotaxi utilize inductive charging when the Supercharger network is arguably one of Tesla’s biggest assets?
  7. What is the Tesla business model for these things? Sell them to individuals who then put them onto a platform for ride hailing? If so, who owns the platform? Will it be a Tesla platform where they collect recurring revenue as a percentage of the fare? Or does Tesla forego that revenue and you can just put it onto Uber, Lyft, whatever? Has Elon explained any of this?
  8. And Waymo vehicles have four seats. Two seats is ridiculously shortsighted.
  9. And it complete ignores that transportation is a commodity good and others are way ahead of Tesla when it comes to autonomous vehicles. It’s going to be a crowded market and Tesla will be late to the party.
  10. For the umpteenth time, parking is not a problem in downtown Austin. Downtown has more parking than it needs.
  11. Who the fuck wants to wait in an hours long line in Houston heat to eat breakfast? Empire Cafe Harry’s Common Bond Citizens of Montrose (technically not local since they have a couple of locations in NYC) Baby Barnaby’s Cielito (line sucks on the weekend) La Guadalupana Tiny Boxwoods
  12. Again, parking is not a problem in downtown.
  13. It’s baffled me for a long time that the northern section of Congress isn’t more activated. Maybe doing something like what is proposed would give it the kick in the ass it needs to liven up. Some al fresco bars and cafes with sweet views of the capitol would be pretty cool in concept, but for the little problem of the oppressive heat half of the year. I though everyone in downtown rode a scooter.
  14. This was my initial thinking on the plan as well. Just trying to think through the unintended consequences. The funny thing to me is that I would bet money that I, as a resident of Houston, have visited downtown Austin more recently than many of the people who will bitch and immediately dismiss this plan without nary a hint of thought or discussion.
  15. I haven’t thought enough about this proposal to form an opinion on whether it would be badass or a bad idea, but parking in downtown Austin is not a problem. There are more than enough spaces to handle a relative handful of spaces lost in this proposal.
  16. This one hits close to home. My family has very close ties to Brite. A conservative institution it is not. It is one of, if not the, most progressive divinity schools in the country. Brite integrated in 1952, twelve years prior to TCU and four years prior to Texas. This news makes me sad for the very fine people at Brite that have to deal with the fallout from this.

  18. #2 was directed at her asking for the prenup if her parents are loaded because if they are and no prenup contemplated:
  19. Is the Tropicana name going to live on anywhere in Vegas in the future? It’s a pretty iconic name even with the property being pretty downtrodden for the last 20 years or so. I think a classic Vegas themed resort with today’s amenities would be pretty cool.
