  1. Holy shit, running on a platform of the right to spread misinformation.
  2. I’m not sure I agree with you, but I would love it if you’re right.
  3. I’m tired of Walz saying that he and Vance aren’t far apart on certain issues. I think it normalizes all the lies that Vance has made all night long without being fact checked.
  4. Well, I’ve listened to him tonight and I now understand that the VP is Supreme Leader of the US.
  5. I know you did. I live in Montrose so I’ve seen plenty, but I’ve never seen a belligerent Trumper harassing people. I guess she’s just one of those New Yorkers that’s on a higher plane than the rest of us in Texas.
  6. See NFL officials strike. That was some awful officiating to the point that it was comedic.
  7. Too many people with college degrees and crippling student debt because of this dumb idea that everyone needs a college education to earn a good living. If we would instead promote and value trades, people would reduce their debt, increase their income and improve their overall quality of life. Shockingly, it would also increase the average wage for degree holders.
  8. It kind of loses the zing when it has to be explained. I still don’t get it.
  9. @PenelopeWitherspoon Is this what enlightened New Yorkers sound like? Gotta admit, I’ve never seen this kind of behavior in Houston.
  10. Jealousy is a fascinating driver of sentiment surrounding how other people earn a living.
  11. And the shippers are making billions. Labor has a role in those profits, no? You’re making an argument for strong unions without realizing you’re making an argument for strong unions.
  12. Don’t need to read it. You’ll see that I was an active participant in that thread. I give you credit for acknowledging the differences between the UAW and ILA labor disputes.
  13. Went to Costco yesterday to pick up some staples and the place was chock full of Christmas stuff and all the clothing was sweatshirts and the like. Meanwhile it was 90+ outside.
  14. UAW made their demands and stuck to the talking points. Fain demonstrated how to keep on message and get public opinion on the side of the union. That’s why you saw Biden on the picket line with labor. It polled well and led to very strong support from labor.
  15. All of this. I’m staunchly pro-union. My wife works in management for a large privately owned manufacturing company that is highly unionized. On the whole, labor relations are good because each side respects each other and understands that there is give and take on both sides. It helps that the company is very closely held (one family owns the entire company) so they’re not beholden to external shareholders. It also doesn’t hurt that the company extends a fair chunk of the union benefits, i.e. healthcare, pension, vacation, to management which makes management happy. This is all a long way of saying that there’s a way for unions and management to work together and not have an adversarial relationship, but that requires good faith on both sides. In this case, it appears that neither was negotiating in good faith although I will give credit to USMX for making a significant move off their position last night. On the other side, you have a union president acting like a mob boss and giving a masterclass in how to get public opinion against you. His constituents have a very strong case for increases in wages and retirement, but he’s lost the message when he threatens Americans who are already skittish about the price of everything. If I was represented by the ILA, I would be pissed.
  16. I’m sure the folks in Central Texas would appreciate some weather engineering to keep the lakes full. While we’re at it, some citizens in AZ and NV could benefit from some weather engineering as well.
  17. Yeah, abuse of labor happens in white collar jobs, too. Doesn’t make it right. If you want to get compensated for your overtime, go get a job at the port or a factory or any other number of jobs that are non-exempt. I’ve gotta admit, there have been times in my career that I’ve been sitting in my office well after the sun went down thinking that I should’ve chosen a different career path.

Yes, you hit a nerve. You didn’t say Texas is shitty. You said Texans are shitty. That’s a big difference. To paint Texans with such a broad brush is obviously going to hit a nerve. You know that I agree that Texas is fucked up big time from a political standpoint, but that doesn’t mean all Texans are shitty. Instead, you’re coming off as the stereotype of a New Yorker who thinks their shit doesn’t stink which is kind of funny since your elected mayor was just indicted for fraud. And, yes, I will continue to pin Trump on you as long as you contend that Texans are shitty.
  19. Let Trump get involved. Perfect. DJT needs to move over to this exchange.
  20. I bet there’s an FFA kid that would have appreciated that guitar.

No, that’s not how this works. The county I live in has repudiated Trump, Cruz, Abbott, Patrick, Paxton, et al repeatedly, but as Texans we’re all shitty. You don’t get off the hook for Trump just because you’ve repudiated him. New Yorkers are all shitty. I’m just playing by the rules as you’ve laid them out to us and then doubled down on. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you make a hot take before that was off base, but that was a big one. I’ll go hug my shitty wife and my shitty dog and try to be less shitty tomorrow, but unfortunately it will all be for naught given my place of residence.
  22. Fuck those cops. While, yes, it is stealing, sometimes humanitarian needs outweigh the loss of some bottled water that people desperately need in a disaster situation. Use some critical thinking skills, report it to the proper authorities so that the owner can be compensated from disaster funds and get that water into the hands of the people that need it. It’s not like people were looting a shipment of gold bullion headed to Ft. Knox.
  23. Which can be easily accomplished these days with facial recognition technology. I can walk right into Minute Maid Park without ever showing a ticket because I’m opted in to their facial recognition tech.
  24. Cruz wasn’t getting primaried. Your vote was more valuable in the D primary voting for Gutierrez over Allred.

We do have a national ID. It’s a passport. What you’re asking for a national DL.
