I have no idea how I would act if one of my family members was a victim, but I’d like to think that I would not want to be put through the trauma of a trial. I would like to think that I would find peace knowing that this guy will never spend another day of his life as a free man.
Meh. Death penalty cases are extremely costly and consume a ton of resources. Plea deal for life without parole to avoid a lengthy trial makes a ton of sense for the state. In the long run, it’s also a ton cheaper to incarcerate someone for life than it is to go through the process to execute someone.
That’s giving people way too much credit. We’re a decade in on this movement at this point. If you’re still on board, you’re a racist. Stupid and gullible, too? Sure, but let’s not allow people to make excuses for what their beliefs stand for.
