Except for the shitty design of the building.

But yes, that area of old Guy Town had been pretty much dead since pre-WW1 - aside from the Covert dealership, the train station and a few commercial businesses.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the design, but it's grown on me over the years. Maybe its just that it's become part of the background as the city has grown up around it.

I'm sure downtown would have been revitalized without it.

We'll never know, but at the time it was certainly a catalyst for redevelopment in that area of downtown. I'm as big a critic of Austin's city government as anyone, but that's one decision that I think they got right.

Since they've made it damn near impossible to drive into downtown and park, never.

Should have put city hall somewhere other than one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in town.

    .

The construction of City Hall where it is was a huge catalyst in redeveloping a dead zone of downtown. The reason it's one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in town is due to the 2nd street deal that included a new City Hall.

True, but in their twisted minds, they're just one lucky break away from living the good life like him. It's aspirational for these idiots.

This needs to be hit hard in commercials.  Point out that donor money was spent on Melania's stylist.   Point out the dollar amount.   Point out that the MONTHLY dollar amount is X times the cost of the average American woman's hair appointment.   Point out that no stylist in America gets paid $18,000 a month for consulting.   Point out how highly suspicious this is.   And then ask "What was this really for?"  "Who was Trump really paying?"

BTW, is this whole thing even legal?   Can a candidate do this kind of thing?   Aren't there any guardrails in place for money spent by PACs for the services paid for?   Surely, there would be some kind of rules in place?    Wait, this is America.

If people aren't enraged about him using campaign funds to pay his legal fees, I doubt a haircut is going to move the needle.

Washington State and Oregon St were available to play and are playing more MWC schools than agreed to because they were already scheduled as out of conference matchups. It would have been that difficult to arrange that if everyone involved was competent.

These were the OOC game before the changes:

    K State v Arizona, Baylor v Utah
Oregon St v SDSU, Washington St v SJSU (these could have been MW conference games)

cancel and schedule each other it’s ain’t too difficult

Those four games are scheduled on three different weekends. So a little more difficult than you think it is. Not to mention that switching out a power conference opponent for a G5 opponent has implications beyond scheduling.

It's already known which will count towards the conference standings and which wont. It's a byproduct of shit changing on a dime, the PAC died suddenly with only a few months to rearrange schedules. I don't recall any other P-5 realignment that had programs move within months of the announcement.

The same chorus of idiots would be moaning if the Big 12 told the schools to drop the previously scheduled noncon games. With noncon games scheduled so far in advance the only thing that they would have been able to fill the holes with would have been an FCS opponent. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Some people just have a weird obsession with bitching about a conference that they're leaving.

Read that they are hosting a pep rally for the border convoy dorks this evening. Watch out for wannabe Rittenhouses.

They did cover it, but it happened years ago.  It was on the local news here in Arizona for a while...

Do you think they cover border crap daily here?   It's like nonstop bad news, ranchers complaining, drug busts, dead people found in desert, cartel shootouts across the border...It's same shit, different day, every day, so anything that happens anymore doesn't even much make the evening news here, like that story above...First time I heard about it was from my friend and I read it on the internet..

Huh. I lived in AZ for twenty years and misses that one.

Lazy Bagel in Midtown is pretty solid in Midtown if you don’t want to deal with the lines/parking at Hot Bagel.

Very fresh, good texture. They don’t have a poppy seed bagel or chive cream cheese which borders on bizarre.

The owner of Hot Bagel died unexpectedly this week at the age of 62.

What are your plans to enjoy yourself?

I ask because that may be an opportunity to get some employee discounts going.

Home remodel kind of stuff? Home Depot or similar.

Play a lot of golf? Sports store.

See where I’m going with this?

Best part, you can switch when you need to, based on what’s going on.

When all that has run its course, then hook up the walmart greeter.

Gibraltar US has fabricated, installed, and performed on over 30 site segments which consisted of over 150 miles of pedestrian/vehicle barrier projects along the US–Mexico border in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs Border Patrol (CBP). The first four US Southern border fence projects under US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Multiple Award Task Order Contracts (MATOC) were Bill Neusch’ s design. This design, with a few modifications, is used by USACE for much of the current fence. Gibraltar has experience constructing all aspects of the southern US border fence including gates, grates, and wash-outs. Gibraltar’s border experience has been demonstrated to meet or beat project schedule requirements with an exceptional quality and safety record. Gibraltar's border solutions are proven and effective tools in slowing, redirecting and deterring illegal entries in areas where DHS/CBP personnel and technologies alone are insufficient. Due to the sheer magnitude in size of the border work, Gibraltar had over 500 employees and set up eight fabrication yards throughout California, Arizona & Texas.

    Fucking grifter of taxpayer dollars.

The problem is that nobody watches. People talk about loving Cinderella but nobody watches those games until the last minutes if it’s close and despite those upsets being memorable moments, they are NOT profitable. Low ranked schools lead to low viewership. When you had FAU, UConn, and San Diego State in the final four, nobody watched and it was the lowest rated final four in many years.

Having a only P5 teams would increase the total watch time for the early round games and would purposefully exclude the lesser brands from their bigger games that attract bigger audiences.

Writers and casual fans love to romanticize Cinderella, but most real fans want to watch Kansas, Kentucky, UNC, Duke, UCLA, Indiana, Ohio St, Florida, LSU, Arizona, Texas, and so on…in the S16/E8/F4 and that is what sells ads which is what drives the market rate for the entire tournament.

It’s not a popular idea, but it’s factual. The P5 schools don’t want to be upset/embarrassed by the Ivy League or MAAC teams, and to rub salt in the wound, most of the times when that happens it tanks the ratings as well which takes even more money out of the pocket of the P5.

While the loss of big brackets and Cinderella will likely hurt in the short terms, but in the long term it would be more profitable.

You can argue that this shouldn’t be about profitability, but then you likely haven’t been paying attention to the last 30 years.

This particular discussion should move to the basketball board, but  curious here. Is your thesis that only including P5 (no longer exists) or P4/3/2 teams in a 68 team tournament will increase ratings?

Yeah, those planes suck.  The Club Suite is a good product, and I am lucky enough that it is on every plane going out of JFK, except the one going to LGW.  At one point, there were 3-4 BA flights out of Houston a day.  I wonder if COVID means that they are flying less so they put the manky old planes on that route to get more seats and $$.

There's only two flights per day on BA these days. The 777-300s are all supposed to be in the Club Suite configuration later this year, but I won't be flying them again until I see it in the schedule. Until then, Polaris out of IAH is superior especially since BA no longer has a dedicated lounge.

BA 777 between NYC and LHR have that same seat, and they were the first to get them.  They are really nice.  There is a LGW flight that is still on the old seat (2-4-2 with full lay flats), but I have not been on one since before COVID.  @royiv I think you just got unlucky.

We were on the 777-300 IAH-LHR and it was terrible in a 2-4-2. I can't believe that BA is flying that plane on that route given that Shell is driving more of its folks to fly BA to London these days. The seats are cramped, the food is gruel and the bedding in Club World is scratchy. I've also noticed on multiple BA flights that they keep the cabin as warm as a nursing home. Other than that, the play was great.
