  1. There's that classic Austin NIMBYism that's been so successful in the past.
  2. It's not like Austin is some shining beacon on the hill. It's a big city with big city problems that are not at all unique to Austin. People who complain about transplants turning Austin into "the shithole they fled" are a big part of the impediment to effecting positive change.
  3. First Crackdonald's and now the Greyhound station. Where are people going to go to get their drugs and videos of bum fights? https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/news/transportation/2023/11/29/470896/midtown-greyhound-bus-services-to-end-thursday-property-still-listed-for-sale/
  4. Not to mention Fertitta has access to all the Bubba Gump he can eat.
  5. Do you think Seton just smiles and moves along when they don't get paid on a high-end cardiac procedure? No, they factor that into their negotiations with the payers down the line and rates go up. Who pays for that? All of us do in the form of increased premiums. There's not some magic pot of money from the sky that keeps hospitals solvent. All of us pay to keep the doors open with our ever increasing premiums.
  6. He would gladly destroy that business in exchange for getting sports gambling at the Toyota Center and a casino in downtown Houston.
  7. If he has aspirations of politics, getting into bed with a family as polarizing (to keep it non-CR) as the Adelsons are would be an interesting strategy. Gotta get through the Senate and that’s not going to happen any time soon.
  8. Cuban must not pay attention to politics in Texas if he thinks casino gambling or sports betting have a chance of legalization in his lifetime.
  9. Her profession isn't very Godley.... Bad pun aside, she's probably more qualified to evaluate healthy attitudes towards sex than the Bible beaters living in a small town in Johnson County.
  10. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39000963/adelson-family-advanced-talks-buy-significant-stake-dallas-mavericks Surprised Cuban would want to sell a big stake in the Mavs, but I guess the money is right.
  11. Agree with everything you posted, but quoting the last point because it's so particularly disgusting. There's no reason prescription drugs need to be marketed to consumers. If you really want to be disgusted, the next time you're watching TV, start googling the cost of some of these drugs that are being marketed to consumers. A good chunk cost five or six figures per cycle.
  12. All of the large urban county counties in Texas are solidly blue. How's that working out here?
  13. It absolutely blows my mind that our country entrusts a large amount of our space program to a company owned by this broken brained Qanon follower. He's a national security threat.
  14. Boise is a great city. I have spent a lot of time there for work for 10+ years and you did a good job summarizing the positives. In some ways it reminds me of Austin when I was growing up in the 80's. That said, Idaho politics are just as bat shit crazy as Texas politics.
  15. It goes further than that. Those ER visits don't just pay for themselves. The taxpayers and commercially insured end up subsidizing those losses through higher healthcare premiums. Not providing coverage to the poor ends up costing all of us more in the long run.
  16. 17 year old seniors in high school give no fucks about wins 50 or even 20 years ago.
  17. You're a weird fucking dude with your obsession with what other schools think of Texas. I don't understand the need you have for other schools to fellate Texas. The fact is that Texas, despite making excellent business decisions for decades, has historically underperformed on the football field compared to other blue blood programs. Texas fans should be concerned more with the product on the field than with what other schools think of them. Don't expect thank you notes and flowers when Texas makes a business decision in its best interest. Move on and focus on the play on the field.
  18. TCU has already proven it can do just fine in a conference without Texas and OU.
  19. Made it through 40 minutes or so of his stand-up special while flying IAH-LHR the other day. Turned it off because it was so unfunny. Didn't even chuckle or break a smile once and I was a captive audience on a metal tube flying over the ocean. Absolutely terrible. The jokes people are complaining about weren't shocking or funny. They were just dumb recycled shit from 20 years ago. The problem isn't him telling "offensive" jokes, the problem is him not being funny.
  20. You'll take your November game against Lamar and like it.
  21. Do you not watch SEC football? The conference takes a week off in November and plays FCS teams.
  22. Username definitely doesn't check out.
  23. Sounds like a bad investment. Investments are supposed to appreciate last time I checked.
  24. $15k for an option that has repeatedly not lived up to Elon's promises seems pretty cost prohibitive to the average consumer, but congrats on paying to be a beta tester.
