  1. Don’t disagree with any of this, but I read in the CNN article posted up thread that she was 36. I was surprised because she definitely seemed much older. Further advances my thought that she was having some sort of mental issue and the approach the officers were taking with dealing with her was entirely inappropriate for what she really needed.
  2. Seeing those options written out by two fans of west coast schools really hammers home how shitty the travel in their new conference is going to be. If you live in Seattle or LA, why the fuck would you want to make a road trip to fucking New Jersey or Indiana? Feel kinda bad for the fanbases.
  3. Are you positing that people who would be bad parents or don’t want kids should still have kids for some societal benefit? Seems like a bad deal for those kids.
  4. The outsourced crew scheduling/positioning to Southwest.
  5. This. They keep the number of units for each of their concepts under the number that requires they publish nutritional info. They rebranded enough Houston’s to Hillstone to get under that cap. J. Alexander’s is not a Hillstone concept. It is owned by the same company that owns Logan’s Roadhouse, Old Chicago, Krystal, Gordon Biersch and a few other concepts.
  6. The wife and I go to either Balboa or Il Bracco once a week. Like Hillstone, they put out consistent, high quality food and have great service. It’s not groundbreaking or particularly adventurous, but you’d know what you’re going to get every time you walk in the door and you know you’re going to leave happy.
  7. That dude shouldn’t have been allowed to carry a weapon, much less be a LEO.
  8. I hate having to (sort of) agree with the gun nuts on this one. The actual mechanics are probably more secure or, at least, more standardized than some dude at Academy selling you ammo. To me it’s just a commentary on this country’s stupid gun culture that we feel the need to sell ammo in a vending machine in a grocery store.
  9. Damn. The only good thing about living in a metro with a bunch of aggys is that the good ones are excellent vets.
  10. Fortunately the Tesla bros and Elon are backing a political agenda that is hostile to EVs and the tax credit.
  11. Glad it’s not just me. This has been happening to me for several days. I only browse from mobile iOS and pages randomly reload and it doesn’t reliably go to last unread.
  12. Don’t know what metro area you are located in, but we had to take our dog to a neurologist to evaluate a bulging disc in his neck. Our vet in Houston referred us to a neurologist in Sugar Land that she knows from vet school. We were very impressed with her and felt like her consultation was thorough and extremely competent. Happy to share the details if you happen to be in the Houston area.
  13. I have never heard of or seen a Hibbett Sports in my life. I had to look it up to even know what it is. Apparently they have nearly 1200 locations. How have I never even heard of a retailer that large?
  14. Nevaeh is a very popular name in the NICUs of Utah and Idaho.
  15. Of course we can. Rolling blackouts are for pussies. We do it bigger and better in Texas.
  16. Checking in on this thread for the first time in a month. Decided around the time of the debate (didn’t watch) to tune out of election news. It’s not like I’m going to change my vote so I made the decision to not give a fuck about the daily barrage of shitty news. It’s been quite a nice break. I suggest others do it. It’s not like any of us can influence a cult member who is pushing for the project 2025 agenda. Those people are too far gone.
  17. This. Larry Foles and Guy Villavaso are very wealthy men following a playbook of starting restaurants and cashing out at the right time.
  18. It also seems like the tenders at Cane’s have gotten a lot smaller recently. As for Layne’s, I don’t get it. They opened one nearby and I’ve given them a shot twice and both times the tenders looked and tasted like frozen tenders out of a bag that had been warmed up.
  19. This isn’t a dig on you, but it’s totally a dig on you.
  20. It’s a kinder, gentler party now.
  21. Those big ole ugly power polls kept us nice and comfy over here in Montrose. Before those big ole ugly power polls got installed we didn’t have power for 78 hours during the 2021 freeze.
