  1. It’s time for your nap, grandpa. Good. I hope this backfires horribly on these idiots.
  2. Using Abbott’s logic, he needs to be butts in seats (to be fair, his butt is always in a seat) in the governor’s office instead of going to photo ops at the border or out of state.
  3. It’s cute that Abbott got himself a lap dog.
  4. Seems like the perfect story of when Austin officially died and sold its soul.
  5. White crosses with each victim’s name
  6. I wouldn’t waste the brainpower wondering about that.
  7. That’s a pretty simple fix. Require that any WFH employee maintains a minimum level of bandwidth for their home internet connection. My wife and I both work primarily from home. We have a gigabit connection and rarely have issues unless there’s something fucky going on with AT&T’s network, but that can happen anywhere. When I worked from an office we had more network issues there than we experience at home.
  8. These lunatic fucks are some of the largest benefactors of taxpayer supported government handouts and are responsible for matters of national security.
  9. You need to chat with @C-Man . He’s never once told me to just bend over and take it. My HO renewal came in about 50% higher this year over last year and he was able to get it way down albeit offset a bit by a much less painful increase on my auto, but overall we kept everything in a very reasonable range of pain compared to the renewal that was initially sent to me.
  10. How the fuck does someone run out of gas on a road trip or anytime for that matter? Prior planning prevents piss poor performance. Sounds like your friends should be praising the NM state police for bailing their dumbasses out.
  11. Had this happen three weeks ago on AA for a DFW-LHR flight so sample size of two says two will do it.
  12. 500 on iOS, which is the maximum allowed. I accidentally cleared them all and I caught shit about it for a bit.
  13. Agree with this. I have a neighbor behind me that is a complete moron when it comes to pool maintenance. I contacted the local health department several years ago and they took an interest pretty quickly due to the possibility of mosquito infestation. The neighbor never answered the door when the health department inspector came to pay a visit, but since the pool can be seen from my bedroom window they used my house to take photos. Over the last several years, they issued multiple citations to the point that it rose to a criminal matter. After a required appearance in front of a judge and threat of criminal penalties, the pool hasn’t been a problem for the last year.
  14. This. Herb’s airline is dead. The current management destroyed it and now it’s just a big, messy airline with 100% reliance on Boeing, another once admired American company that can’t quit slamming its dick in the door, for its aircraft.
  15. There’s a time and a place for NOLA, but on the whole part of what makes Charleston more appealing to me as I enter my get off my lawn years is that it’s more upscale and cleaner. Nightlife to us these days is a nightcap in a nice hotel bar so Charleston is a little more our speed these days. Plus, the Hotel Bennett is one of my favorite hotels in the US.
  16. I knew essentially nothing before I saw it. Wife came home from a business trip a couple of weeks ago and said she wanted to see it. We go to see a movie pretty much every weekend, especially during the summer, so I looked it up, saw it was playing at the Alamo in BFE Katy, bought tickets and started packing my bag for the long trek out to Cinco Ranch.
  17. This. It’s a great summer movie. The people criticizing it are acting like it’s supposed to be some sort of cinematic masterpiece based solely on historical facts when the movie itself is very tongue in cheek about the fact that it’s “loosely” based on the Texas Monthly article. It’s supposed to be a light, fun flick and it nails that. Powell’s hitman personas were tons of fun.
  18. Good assessment. I attribute the 20-30 something female in tennis skirt (is this a bad thing) demographic to the Southern Charm and Southern Hospitality effect.

    TexMex

Went there recently before an Astros game and I thought the food was pretty meh, middle of the road TexMex. Nothing at all to go out of the way for. The kick to the nuts was how expensive it was for the quality you’re getting. We were there pregame before a Friday night Astros game and there were maybe three other tables in occupied in the restaurant. I don’t see how it makes it. I’m really surprised that the Agricole guys can’t make something work in that space.

Get the ribeye fajitas next time. They’re my favorite thing on the menu.
  21. Yeah, fuck people who think workers deserve a living wage in this country. What kind of shit is that? No worker in this country deserves the dignity of eking out a living. The hypocrisy between “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” and “no one deserves a living wage” is quite remarkable.
  22. For anyone that’s interested, here’s the link to Elliott’s presentation. In my personal experience of working at a company that had an activist investor take a stake in the organization, this won’t end well for the CEO or board. https://strongersouthwest.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Stronger-Southwest_06102024.pdf
