  1. This is one of the things I have always enjoyed about Rice coming to DKR and the MOB doing the halftime show. Even when they poke fun at us, it's hilarious and I usually enjoy the laughs. Not everything has to be so damned serious 100% of the time.
  2. Hartzell: "it's been a pleasure working with you, Bob. Now where should we send our sympathy bouquet?"
  3. So little self-awareness going on over there right now. And...in other news, today is Sunday.
  4. I saw that one of the cosponsors of that bullshit piece of legislation they filed to make the State Legislature sign off on any conference moves was the individual who represented my old hometown. I had to look him up because I had never heard of him before. Turned out - surprise, surprise - he was an agroid. Reminds me once again of why I noped the fuck out of that place 30+ years ago.
  5. Judging by the net 23 negs here, that message isn't going over well with the cult.
  6. Wow, the persecution complex with this bunch is over the top. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, and the rest of the SEC absolutely do not give two shits over the fact that aggy has improved somewhat since Jimbo took the helm. Even if Jimbo did the impossible and got aggy a natty, they would all still get paid the same either way. This is a business deal. Adding Texas and OU to the conference means that even more benjamins will be flowing into their everyone's accounts. And rest assured, the SEC blue bloods like benjamins more than anything else. But as usual, aggy has to make it all about them. It just validates all the little brother stereotypes that we have been saying all along.
  7. Eh, mainly due to family and friend connections. But yeah, I feel you.
  8. I'm out of rep to upvote this today, but if I could I would. 100% this. I feel bad for Tech, Okie State, and TCU. I won't lose any sleep over Baylor.
  9. I think you could make a case for Texas Tech and Oklahoma State expanding the Pac into new media markets, particularly into the states of Texas and Oklahoma. Sure, Tech generally does not travel all that well. But they have a fair number of alums in the major cities in Texas - probably enough to justify carrying Pac games on TV. I would think that expanding the Pac into Texas TV markets in particular would be attractive to the Pac, and perhaps at worst make adding these schools a break-even proposition for the rest of the Pac. If some of the rumors of the B1G forming a west coast division and raiding the Pac for members come to pass, the Pac is going to be desperate to get out in front of that and try and shore itself up. Cultural fit of these two schools in the Pac has been raised as a potential issue, but let's not forget that Washington State in particular is located in the thriving metropolis of Pullman, Washington. If you've never been to Pullman - well, let's just say it makes both Stillwater and Lubbock look absolutely cosmopolitan by comparison. I don't think this will be as big of an issue as some people make it out to be. West Virginia to the ACC is perhaps a tougher sell - but really, what other options does the ACC have for expansion at this point?
  10. Well, Washington State, Oregon State, and Arizona State all happen to be members of the Pac - and none of them are AAU members. I'm not sure Oklahoma State's academics are significantly worse than Washington State's, in particular. If the Pac really wants Oklahoma State, I doubt their academics are going to be a deal-breaker.
  11. I got no hard feelings toward the man. I wish him well, except for when he is playing us.
  12. Dude, your team got blown out by Illinois by three scores last season. You might want to take a seat on this one.
  13. If OU leaves, we leave. There is literally no reason for us to remain.
  14. This dude is talking out of his ass. Texas Legislature is in special session and cannot consider any legislation to block Texas from leaving. Plus, they do not have a quorum due to all the Democratic members leaving the state. The earliest that the Legislature could take this up would be 2023, and the deed will have long since been done by then. LHN is bleeding money for ESPN and not likely to be renewed. But keep on dreaming.
  15. I really hope they keep Texas-OU exactly as it is. I know Jerrah will probably lean hard on the SEC hard to move it to JerryWorld, but that would be a huge mistake. One of the things that makes Texas-OU weekend so magical is getting to go to the state fair included with the game - eating corn dogs and junk food, enjoying the throw-up rides, hanging out on the midway... You simply cannot recreate that experience at JerryWorld. I remember when some legislators up in Oklahoma were pushing to change Texas-OU to a home-and-home series a long time ago, both schools shot down the idea in a hurry. I think too many alumni from both schools would balk at the idea of ever moving it away from the Cotton Bowl stadium.
  16. Holy shit CDC has been impressive over the last 12 months. First he gave Mensa the slip while bringing in Sark, and managed to keep a lid on the whole thing until it was a done deal. Then he gave Shaka a soft landing and poached Beard away from Tech. Now it looks like he is engineering the security of Texas athletics future in arguably the premier college sports conference in the world. Dude is a pro. He plays chess and dares you to keep up.
  17. What seems most likely to me: West Virginia to ACC - would allow them to revive the Backyard Brawl with Pitt, also close proximity to Virginia and Virginia Tech. It would not shock me if the ACC were to add Houston, too. Kansas and Iowa State to the B1G - Kansas for sure, Iowa State maybe. Both schools are AAU members, which the B1G really likes. Kansas is extremely attractive for hoops, and probably no worse at football than Illinois. (Which is to say, they're terrible.) Iowa State has a longstanding rivalry with Iowa, and would fit in well regionally with Nebraska and Minnesota as well. Texas Tech and Oklahoma State to the Pac - Pac will need to expand to keep up with the Joneses. These are probably the two best remaining programs in the Big XII, and these schools would fit in reasonably well with Colorado, Utah, and the Arizona schools. I could see the Pac also entertaining the idea of adding Boise State and maybe BYU (if the Pac decides to get past the whole Mormon thing) to get to 16 teams. Oklahoma State to the B1G is also a possibility, although that seems like less of a good fit to me. Baylor, TCU - probably the American. These are smaller programs that would probably thrive in that conference, although the loss in conference prestige would be a blow. When the CFP expands to 12 teams, I could see the American getting at least one bid. Kansas State - who knows? My guess is they might join the Mountain West with the likes of Colorado State, Wyoming, Air Force, etc. unless the Pac gets desperate enough to add them.
  18. I have to say I really want OU, Arky, and aggy in our pod - mainly to revive all our old rivalries with the latter two. That would be badass. But I would be good with some kind of arrangement where we play one of them in a cross-pod rivalry game every year, if that team winds up not being in our pod. Though it would not surprise me if aggy were to do some kind of bitchass move like making the SEC put them in a different pod than us in exchange for not torpedoing our admission into the conference, because they don't want to play us. I could also see the SEC doing two eight team divisions, and rotating two teams out from the other division for home-and-home series over two years to fill out a nine game conference schedule. I recall the Big Ten does (or used to do?) something similar a while back.
  19. Again, I will ask: how is that working out for you these days?
  20. Yep, they used to call it Fayette-Nam, and for good reason.
  21. This. And quite honestly, this is the biggest problem I have had with the Big XII for the last 10 years. The Big XII has basically been propped up by Texas and OU, and to a somewhat lesser extent, OSU, over the last 10 years. All the while, the remora in the conference have been whining and complaining about how Texas runs everything, while at the same time still gladly accepting all the money we have brought into the conference. Well kids, we're selling the house and moving. Time to put on your big boy pants and go get an apartment. Do I believe that we will run things in the SEC? Absolutely not. I see Texas as a peer among rough equals with the likes of OU, Bama, LSU, and Florida. We know damn well the SEC will get along just peachy without us. But frankly, we're all a bit tired of being the ATM for the rest of the Big XII, while they mostly shit all over us at the same time. At least with the SEC, we will be respected for our size, history, and additional resources that we bring to the party. We may be disliked by some. That's fine, we're used to it. We will win some, and we will lose some. But it will be fun. Let's ride.
  22. They honestly believe that we are 100% of the reason that their program has been mediocre now for the better part of two decades. As though mediocre coaching hires like Bill Callahan, or Tom Osborne covering for all of Lawrence Phillips's crimes while enrolled there had nothing to do with any of it. Nope, it was all Texas. Kind of funny how, in the decade since they cut Texas out of their lives, they still suck. On the other hand, we barely even think about them anymore unless they pop up around here and show their asses.
