Fun fight. Chisora needs to retire. Dude already has mush mouth when he talks from all the damage he has taken. Still wants two more fights, supposedly. Poor Joyce. It's wild to see how he hasn't improved one iota over his entire career. I remember watching him in the amateurs and he was comically slow back then, but he looked like a guy who after awhile might turn into something. Instead he just got slower. Never improved his technique. Never learned how to defend himself.

2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.
SpiralOut replied to bolverk's topic in Cloak Room
Yeah, I don't know that they can get rid of Vance. He's a Peter Thiel creation. Dude has been groomed from way back to be the billionaires' bitch boy and do whatever they want. I guarantee you the whole deal was if Donald wanted the big money to back him he had to pick Vance. Thiel and his ilk want a tool in place so once Trump croaks or they 25th his ass out of office, their man is in place to start running down the whole "end democracy, let the corpos completely take over" checklist. I don't know that any of the other big name candidates have the same support and/or are dumb enough to hitch the wagon to Drumpf at this point. All fun and games when you're running against a semi-ambulatory corpse who you've had four years to shit on and blame for everything. With Harris? Not so much. -
The utter fucking freak show the Republican party has turned into is a sight to behold. Like, these people don't even seem real. It's like some surreal, fucked up horror show where people are just pretending everything is normal.

He was wearing shorts, tennis shoes, and a Demo Ranch t-shirt. The dude could not have looked less like a LEO if he'd tried. This is pure and utter incompetence from everyone involved. They basically rolled the red carpet out for anyone to get up on that roof and take a shot. Local PD totally fucked up their end of security and then SS protocols/having to interact with the dumbass local cops led to waiting until after this kid had fired before doing something about the situation. Then the SS's response after the shots was also a comedy of errors. Let Trump do w/e the hell he wants instead of getting him out of there immediately, asking each other what the plan is because they had none, unable to draw/holster weapons while looking completely panicked, etc. If I'm any politician that rates a security detail I'm freaking out and demanding sweeping changes immediately. A kid who did zero prep work, couldn't make his own shooting club in school he was such a terrible shot, and who was spotted minutes beforehand by a gang of people who were alerting the authorities was a few centimeters away from popping a former President's head like a balloon.
-
Yeah, the only slight conspiracy theory to this whole thing is how utterly awful the security was which might suggest the SS actually wanted Donald dead. Hey, don't blame 'em. Dude sucks. A young, loner, gun nut kid decided to get his 15 minutes. If we lived in a rational world a kid like that would never have the opportunity to own a long rifle he could just carry with him out in the open willy nilly. If we lived in a rational world the political rhetoric in this country would have never been bad enough to spur him to get on that roof. If we lived in a rational world security would have never allowed him the chance to get on that roof. Instead, we live in the Idiocracy timeline so of course it happened exactly like it did. And now it might be the deciding factor in whether or not America continues to exist as a democracy or as a country at all. Fucking get me out of here, dude.

They found the Twitter of the guy who died at the rally:

Yeah, seems wildly easy to bump off any political figure you want if this is how bad the SS is at protecting one of the top 2 politicians in the country. And that's not even taking into account new technologies. After watching video after video of Russians getting blown to smithereens with drones in Ukraine, it would be pathetically easy it would be to fly one into an event like this. Doesn't matter if your target turns their head at the last second when you're hitting them with high explosive at a fast rate of speed. You'd also not be setting yourself up to get domed by counter sniper fire, either. Just fly it in while you're multiple miles away in a room somewhere.

Yeah, whomever is running the SS has to go. How do you not clear a building/have a guy stationed there when it's that close to the event? Especially considering it's like the only building around. Of course, the SS been fucked up for a long time. Back in Obama's day they were hiring prostitutes and shit. -

That makes sense. No way a bullet hits him and his ear is still attached unless it was piddly BB gun/22. -

I'm sure this is going to go well for the country. Absolutely nothing awful will come of this at all. -
Bam Rodriguez just straight up murdered Estrada. Dude is Top 5 P4P. He's a monster.

Benevidez with an easy win over Gvozdyk. He got severely gassed in the back half of the fight, though. Don't think he could take Bivol or Beterbiev. Martin was looking good against Tank. Then he started backing all the way up to the ropes over and over. Tank smoked him. Kinda tired of this shit with Tank though. He'll eat the guys they feed him, but he isn't trying to look for a tough fight against the best. Matias v. Paro was a war. Fun fight. Paro came to fight and somehow got out of there with the win, even with a point deduction.

Big fights tomorrow. Tank v. Martin: Tank shouldn't have any problems. Still not fighting the best guys. Dude is 29, so you wonder when he's going to start, if ever. Benevidez v. Gvozdyk: Most think Benny should walk through this dude. Supposedly Benny beat the hell out of Gvozdyk in sparring back when Benny was only 19. I think this might be closer than everyone thinks. Gvozdyk is no pushover and he went deep with Beterbiev before finally falling. Benny tends to have a bit of trouble with movers and Gvozdyk has good feet. Still think the Red Bandit gets the job done. Should be a banger. Billiam-Smith v. Riakporhe: SD win for Riakporhe back in 2019 when they first fought. Matias v. Paro: Super Light belt on the line in this one. Both guys are pretty good at putting their opponents away. Should be fun.

Wouldn't ya know: Wilder Beats His Girl's Ass
-
Wilder's career is legitimately crazy in how successful it was considering his skill level. All due to the untold amounts of protection he got from his promoter, Shelly Finkel. All boxers have some easy fights at the start of their pro-career. It's just the way the business works. But for most guys it's 10-15 fights. If you're an experienced ultra-talent like Loma or Usyk, it's hardly any. There are about 500 ranked Heavyweight boxers. Wilder was fighting unranked guys well into his pro career. His 14th professional fight, where most guys would be looking to pick up a minor belt and become next in line to try for a title shot, Wilder fought a dude with an 11-38 record who was a cruiserweight. It took him until his 26th professional bout to pick up that minor (vacant!) belt against a nobody Kelvin Price who almost immediately quit boxing after that. For comparison, Usyk is the current Undisputed HW champ and was also Undisputed at Cruiserweight and he's only had 22 fights total in his pro career. Deontay didn't become WBC champ until his 33rd fight when he beat Bermane Stiverne. Didn't knock him out. Got a decision. And Stiverne is widely regarded as one of the weakest HW champions in the history of boxing. He then goes on to defend his title multiple times against guys ranked outside the Top 25. The only legitimate test he had during that time was Luis Ortiz. A Cuban who wasn't anything special, but actually had the size combined with some amount of skill. Problem is, Luis Ortiz, like a lot of Cubans, lies about his age. Ortiz was supposedly 40 years old in their first fight, but it's pretty well known he was more like 45-46. And Ortiz was demolishing Wilder for that entire fight until he got caught by a right hand. Which is how a lot of Wilder's fights, even against cab drivers, went. The fights were boring affairs where Wilder is getting repeatedly tagged until he finally manages to land his nuke. That's how poor of a boxer he is. He loses round after round after round until one big wind-milling right hand slips through. Luckily for Wilder though, he caught a cherry-pick gone wrong. He thought he could get an actual real name on his resume finally with Fury. Fury was coming off his 3-year "say I have mental health problems but I'm really avoiding a decade long ban for PEDs and trying to cover it up" vacation. Fury had looked rather mediocre against two bums in Seferi and Pianeta, so Wilder figured he was ripe for the picking. Has that exciting fight where Fury does his Undertaker impression in the 12th and the rest is history. The boxing/sports media pretends these two guys are some of the greatest HWs of all time and both guys get a ton of money/attention for that trilogy. In reality, Fury is pretty good when he tries and gives a fuck which is hardly ever and Wilder is a one-trick pony with his right hand. Lots of people have tried making the argument that Fury took Wilder's soul in those fights and yeah, those fights did take something from Wilder. Still, the real reason why he looks like ass now is because he has found his level. It's easy to just wildly throw haymakers at your opponent when they suck. When they're legitimate Top 10 guys that can hurt you? Not so much. Which is what we saw in this fight with Zhang. Wilder was scared to throw, Zhang was walking him down, Wilder finally decided to give it a go, and because his technique is so awful Zhang immediately timed him and sent him to sleep. If Wilder had ever fought any real competition earlier in his career, he'd have been exposed then and nobody would have considered him anything but a circus act. Oh, and he also happens to be a rather awful dude in real life. Accusing his trainer of spiking his water when he lost to Fury in the rematch as well as accusing Fury of putting weights in his gloves. Had sex with his brother's girlfriend. The list goes on.

Just in case anyone was interested, since I really was. This is the live tracking of the Fury/Usyk fight by JABBR, the AI tracking system. Supposedly 99% accurate. They had 30 cameras + a 360 cam at the fight to catch all the action. It's wild when you dig into the actual stats completely. The AI thinks based on its system of tracking punches, damaging shots, aggression, etc., that Usyk won every round but the 5th and 6th. So even the rounds I thought were close and gave to Fury, the AI is like, nah, he got pieced up. Really just goes to show how fucky boxing scorecards are compared to what really happens in a fight. I've linked this video with the timestamp where the fight starts. You can skip near the end to see the full stats at around 7:25:00. Look in the lower right corner under Deepstrike Fight Flow to see how the AI scored the fight.

Re-watched the fight today just to score it and it was wider in Usyk's favor than the official scorecards. Rounds 1-3 were Usyk by a mile. I think Fury's showboating might have influenced some people, but Usyk was working him in all these rounds. Also, Usyk was blocking a lot of shots with his gloves/forearms. Rounds 4-6 were Fury by a mile. Fury got into a rhythm and he couldn't miss with his right hand. The looping right body shot and the right uppercut were killing Usyk every time he tried to close the distance. Fury really hurt Usyk in the 6th round. The most I've ever seen Usyk hurt. Still, Usyk took it well and kept coming forward. Round 7 was close, but Usyk blocked a lot of shots and he finished the round strong. Still, could go either way. You can see Fury start to slow down in the back half of this round. Round 8 Usyk got back on the gas and he really works Fury here. Usyk breaks Fury's nose in this round and it was a big turning point in the fight. Fury keeps pawing at it and he never got back on track in the entire fight after it happened. Round 9 was the blowout. Ref really saved Fury's ass. Should have been waved off or the ref should have jumped in much earlier and gave Fury a standing 8 count. If that had happened, Usyk would have finished him before the round was up. Fury has never been that hurt before in his entire career. Even when Wilder floored him in the 12th of their first fight he was clear eyed. He had zero control of his body here. One more shot and he would have been through the ropes. Rounds 10-11 were all Usyk. Usyk was gassed from trying to finish Fury the previous round so not much happened in the 10th, but he still landed some solid shots on Fury. 11th was more of the same, but with Usyk landing even more. Round 12 is the one I have a problem with. All three judges gave this round to Fury. I don't really know why. He lands one big hard right hook on Usyk in the round, but that was it. Usyk lands several solid shots. It was a swing round at best. I think this was home cooking for the A-side so the fight seemed closer than it really was. So seven rounds to Usyk plus the knockdown. Give Fury the three rounds he absolutely deserved plus the two close rounds (7, 12). 115-112 Usyk. Pretty typical Usyk fight, IMO. He started fast, kept the pressure up, and was highly accurate with his shots. Once the bigger man got tired, Usyk went into an even higher gear and started doing real damage and cruised to a win. I just think Fury's size and reach slowed him down a bit since he was having to work so much harder to get inside and land his shots. The most surprising thing to me was how well Fury did. He actually hurt Usyk at one point and took that little stretch in the middle with some great boxing. I thought after the Ngannou debacle he was finished, but he got himself together, showed up in shape, and put on a good fight.

It's going to go down as a classic. One of the best HW title fights I've seen. Both guys performed well and had each other hurt. Crazy that a fight this hyped up and for all these belts actually lived up to the expectations. Boxing got a huge win with this fight.
-
Yeah, you're wildly off base here. They actually implemented AI fight tracking in this fight. System works really well. Can tell the difference between a jab and a power shot. It can tell if a punch gets blocked. It's, quite frankly, amazing. Has Usyk winning by much wider than what we got on the scorecards. https://www.reddit.com/gallery/1cvak65 If you just want to go by CompuBox numbers, well, Usyk won there, too. https://www.boxingscene.com/compubox-stats-oleksandr-usyk-tyson-fury--183645 Plus, one guy was past queer street into Willy Wonka's Wonderland at one point and was only saved by the ref getting in the aggressor's way and then the round ending after getting a standing 8 count. That guy wasn't Usyk. First three rounds were close, Fury took the next three, and then Usyk (as he always does) took the back half of the fight while also knocking Fury silly. Definitely deserved the win.

Great fucking fight. Fury actually impressed me with how much damage he was able to put on Usyk and slow him down. The Ukrainian just isn't to be fucked with, though. Dude keeps the throttle wide open on you the entire fight and these big heavyweights just wilt. Honestly, the fight could have been stopped. Ropes kept Fury up. I've always said Usyk doesn't get credit for how hard he can punch. He just chooses not to risk sitting down on shit. He waits until you get exhausted and then he'll put it on ya. Usyk has to go down as one of the all-time greats. Olympic gold, 335 amateur wins, Undisputed Cruiser champ, and now Undisputed Heavyweight champ after beating guys twice his fucking size. He's a phenom. Oh, and Fury is a bitch for complaining about the decision afterwards. Usyk clearly won that fight even though Fury took some rounds in the middle. Show some class you gypsy fuck.
-
Fury has spent his entire career fighting middling plodders. Just big, slow guys who hit hard. He's never seen anyone the skill level of Usyk. Usyk is a killer. He's never been knocked down in his pro career and he just opens the throttle up and wears these heavyweights down. Man went 24 rounds with a much harder puncher in AJ and was never seriously hurt or in trouble in either of those fights. If this was just a straight up boxing match it would be Usyk and it wouldn't even be close. However, they've got the ref from Pacquiao v. Horn who let Horn throw elbows all sorts of other shit. Fury loves his dirty boxing. Plus, it's fairly clear the Saudis want Fury v. AJ. So I imagine Fury is going to get worked, but he'll dirty this shit up to make the rounds close and get a robbery on the cards. Hope I'm wrong and it's a clean fight with a clear winner.
