  1. We've had a culture problem since Deloss "We're the Joneses" Dodds kicked the marketing and monetization of the football program into high gear. That was 2008.
  2. This is my key point that I am making in this and the other thread. This guy has been paid millions without proving he deserves it beyond the NIL arms race. Some guys get paid that much money and check out because they don’t need anything else.
  3. They have NIL deals at those schools, but I consume college football just as much as everyone else here. Anyone trying to say that players at Texas don’t get more exposure than at other schools, including other blue bloods, is lying to themselves. Hell, it’s part of our recruitment pitch.
  4. Weird, because I have no idea what kind of haircut the Ohio State QB has, the Clemson RB doesn’t have his own mustard, and I don’t know how many other teams have luxury brands sending entire teams bags. We’re all flash and exposure. Nothing of football substance. The Longhorn Football program doesn’t have football as the first priority. It’s been like that since the twilight years of the Deloss Dodds era.
  5. The problem? His personal success off the field had nothing to do with his success on the field. He was the anointed savior before he even threw a pass in an actual college game. When you shower some guys with all that right out of the gate, then they lose all their drive. Some are just driven. Bijan is just driven. He has nothing left to gain off the field but he goes out there and plays like the best player in the nation. I haven’t seen any drive out of Quinn. All I’ve seen is a dude with raw talent that just shows up. He’s Baker Mayfield without the chip on his shoulder. Someone needs to piss in Quinn’s cheerios just to see if he gives a shit.
  6. Come to Texas, secure the bag, become a celebrity, and maybe play a little football when you feel like it. Our culture as an entire program, from the University to the fans, is the problem.
  7. That was some Thunder Thump Alligator Roll era bullshit tackling.
  8. 50,000 students on campus and we can’t find even just one that can reliably kick a field goal?
  9. The rule has got to go. If you’re past the line of scrimmage, it’s game on. It’s impossible for a defender to bail on a tackle that’s started before the slide.
  10. Get the win, get off the field, fix the issues. Better than the alternative.
  11. Legit shocked they called it fair.
  12. Targeting the ball, maybe…
  13. Was going to post this exact gif. China has never been and will never be our ally under the Xi regime or any successor appointed by Xi. We need to detach ourselves from any dependence on Chinese goods, especially goods that end up integrated into critical infrastructure.
  14. “What we need is a coach with a national championship under his belt. We’ll pay any price.” *A finger on the monkey’s paw curls*
  15. If this was the initial answer out the gate, then he would get more understanding. It wasn’t. Throwing a hissy fit first and then walking it back trying to rationalize once you don’t get the response you want is the same bullshit my 5 year old does.
  16. When I saw a screenshot of this tweet, I thought it had to be photoshopped. Nope, it’s real. Disgusting. I was looking at Teslas for a daily city driver, but that’s a hard no from me, now. And if he buys Twitter, then I’m off that platform, too. He’s far from the world’s savior and great innovator. The Thomas Edison comparison is pretty spot on.
  17. Y’all still there? Just got to town.
  18. Finally back in after a few years off.
  19. Damn, I’m going to miss the paper tickets. Getting those in the mail and looking at the design was always part of the experience. Oh, well. Time marches on and I’m an old now, I guess.
  20. Looking for 2, preferably for an in person handoff in Austin or Dallas between now and Friday. Stubhub sucks and I don’t know how the digital ticket works for the Fair. DM me and we can hash out price and handoff.
  21. Russian dictator, go fuck yourself.
  22. When Putin annexed Crimea, he claimed that it was only because he wanted to protect ethnic Russians and that Crimea wanted to be annexed. He then stated that he Russia would stop there and had no plans for further annexations. On the old site, I was calling for intervention and the removal of Russia from Crimea and the response was “we don’t want to get into a nuclear conflict over a small patch of land.” The cliff notes of my response are that appeasement didn’t work with Hitler and it will not work with Putin. He’ll come back for more, but he will be more patient than Hitler in doing it. I cautioned that we either stop him at Crimea or risk more death and destruction in the future. How much more evidence do we need? Where is the line? How many more lives need to be destroyed? The best time to stop Putin was 2014. The second best time is now. It needs to end with this attempted annexation.
  23. I agree wholeheartedly with GoLL and others in this thread that the nuclear paradigm has shifted away from what has been status quo in the entire history of nuclear warfare post WW2. With all the pieces moving swiftly into place, I think we are about to enter into a Cuban Missile Crisis type event over the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory. If Putin did it without threatening nuclear response beforehand, it would have been different. But an country in a conflict cannot threaten nuclear strike in order to GAIN territory. We will either stare Putin down and a relatively quick resolution of the whole conflict follows or we enter into a hot war with Russia. Those are the only two outcomes now.
  24. @immamac looks like we got spam botted in the For Sale section. These people really want to clean your ducts.
  25. I also need at least 2, maybe 3. Upper deck is fine.
