  1. I googled the “wheels” guy. Apparently he is an attorney. So yeah, seems like there would be plenty of money laying around or friends to have found an alternative. It could be just one of those “hey, let’s do this moment”. Who knows? Kudos for CDC for sharing and being a normal person.
  2. Just now landed on a flight from Tucson to ATL. It was bumpy so we could not get out of our seats. Been needing to go for some time now. I am beginning to crown! Hurry up and get to the gate!! Prayers are appreciated.
  3. The only thing missing in the bottom photo is the waste basket off in the corner that has all of the used toilet paper in it. I have levitated above toilets similar to this in India and China. Never a fun moment.
  4. This is me. I travel the globe so time changes do not bother me. As I transition during DST all I have to do is to mentailly be aware of the time.
  5. My ex is a school teacher. While we were married she wanted to supplement her income by selling "high end" costume jewelry. When she approached me about selling it the conversation went pretty much like this: Her: I want to start making extra money. Me: OK, what is involved? Her: I have to buy the inventory at a heavily discounted cost. Plus set up selling parties with other women. It will be fun. Me: Ok, how much is the investment? Her: It depends on how much I buy and it can go up or down depending on how well I do. Plus, I get jewelry to wear at a discount. Me: Oh, Ok, now I see. Are you wanting to "sell" jewelry to make extra money or have it to wear? Her: Make money. The free or discounted jewelry is just a perk. Me: Ok, just as long as we are in the black when you get tired of doing this. Her: (angrily) You don't want me to do this do you? Me: I did not "say" that. I said, "Just be in the black when it is all said and done." Her: Fine. I won't do it. Me: Ok. She did eventually do it a couple of years later. She was still doing it when we divorced. Not sure if she ended up in the black (probably not).
  6. One of the episodes on tonight on TV Land had Heaton running around in a revealing nighty.
  7. For whatever reason I never watched it during its original run. It comes on TV Land regularly also. I watch it all of the time and have so for years as it is in syndication. I find it to be a very funny show and thoroughly enjoy it
  8. All I could gather from the movie was the quick QB drop and speed of the Arena game for making decisions is what led him to Martz. Saying the speed of the Arena game compared to the NFL sounds funny but the Arena coach kept telling Warner to hurry up. I haven’t done any reading on the subject but this is my guess.
  9. I saw this movie in the theater when it came out during my high school years. Have not seen it since. All I remember from it is the theme song! Maybe should give it another look.
  10. I saw Uncharted yesterday as well. Enjoyed it. Did not know that it was based on a video game. Spoiler: When the couple comes out of the water and onto the beach they pass by a guy lounging on the beach and he says a few lines. My girlfriend and I looked at each other and asked who that was since it was an “obvious” cameo. Come to find out he is a voice in the video game. I also saw an interview with Walberg and Holland. Apparently this movie has been on the “to make” list for some time. From what I gathered from the interview, Walberg expected to play the Drake character but by the time the movie making came around he had “aged out”. I believe that the interview was on GMA. It was a fun interview. Ready for the sequel as they showed the transition scenes during the credits. Always stay until the house lights come on!
  11. This right here. Enjoying a movie in the context of time that it was made applies to a lot of movies. I love movies from the late 30’s, 40’s and into the 50’s, therefore I watch a lot of movies on TCM. As I am watching these movies I have to mentally put my mind and emotions into that particular era for context of what is going on, storyline, social norms, and technology.
  12. I woke up this morning before my alarm went off. I was not happy. As I layed there in bed trying to go back to sleep all I could think of was the "Getting Old Sucks" thread on Surly and how reading it is rubbing off into real life.
  13. I met a navy Seal while on a business trip to Utah recently. I told him that McRaven spoke at my daughter's graduation. He immediately knew what I was talking about as he basically had the speech memorized. He went on to tell me a couple of cool stories about McRaven too.
  14. I do not remember who spoke at my commencement in 1988. I am so thankful that McRaven spoke at my daughter's commencement in may 2014. It was memorable. I suspect that Acho's will be memorable as well but for different reasons.
  15. Of course he is going to say nice things about NU. This is his new team.
  16. Welp. Talent wise Texas can overcome this. Hopefully the mental/emotional part of this will not have a negative impact on the team. Still expecting a trip to Omaha.
  17. Looking at his list of work, I have seen at least 22 of the movies that he was in. He supported some real heavy weight actors of the time from the late 30's through the late 40's. Musical, drama, comedy, thrillers, war, westerns, he did them all.
  18. North by Northwest with Cary Grant, James Mason and Eva Marie Saint. A Hitchcock classic. I prefer movies from the 40's and 50's because of their over-the-top "yeah, that really happened" moments. This one is right up my alley! This one could fall under "Cold War" movies too.
  19. Was Hale ever in a bad movie?
  20. I cannot stay awake on a plane. Doesn't matter if it is from SHV to DFW or ATL to JNB. I get drowsy wthout anything. I fly so much that I can sleep anywhere.
  21. The Beverly Hillbillies. Particularly in Season 9 when there is a standoff between Elly May and Granny against Jethro and the men over male chauvenism. The Japanese culture is prevalent in 2 or 3 episodes. Jethro begins to replace his L's with R's when speaking. At one point, while answering the phone, he says, "Herro" and then proceeds to tell Jed that "Herro" is Japanese for "Hello".
  22. When my son was in the 5th/6th grade I helped coach his youth football team. The head coach was a total dumbass. All he knew was yelling without any tangible instruction. I do not think that he ever played and all he knew was "hit'em hard". He ended up dying from a brain anuerysm while in his 40's (probably from yelling). I do not have a problem with "tough" coaching as long as it is in context. I know I did my fair share of yelling!
  23. Dumb as in also not seeing a handicap license plate. Plus the thing hanging from the rear view mirror looks like one of those scented trees.
  24. I have been in that area quite a bit because of my job and have mingled with the miners. Had one guy say that they would share their wives (do not want to see pics) with you before they would let you cross a picket line. I seen this documentary and enjoyed it.
