  1. Yes, at the top of the driveway provided there aren't other cars parked in that area.
  2. I have a rather long driveway at my house which is about 175’ long or so. When my son first got his license he was backing out at the same time one of his buddies was backing out of the driveway. His buddy stopped before he got to the end of the driveway and my son backed into him. The wife, now ex, and I were in the house when we heard the collision. She was outside yelling at him before he could even get out of the truck. I felt bad for him because she was letting him have it right in front of his friends and in a very not so kind way. Having to be somewhat diplomatic at the time, I knew that I was going to have to counter her words with some understanding words but also some education with it. A bit later I got the “Rolodex” out to let him know that she has backed into things too such as a friends car, neighbor’s brick mailbox, multiple toys, bicycles, lawn chairs, etc. Of course each time that she collided with something there were extenuating circumstances that were totally unavoidable.
  3. 1983 for me. Had a 1969 F150 3-speed on the column. Push it, jump in it, pop the clutch and take off. Not sure about modern vehicles though. Would think that computers and other electronics would create an issue.
  4. Bit of trivia; The ill-advised pass by Jimmy G was tipped by Hasty, the 49er RB, and was intercepted by Howard. Both players are from Longview.
  5. Ha ha. My parents still proudly display their World Book Encyclopedias and Childcraft books.
  6. Yes, at one point the parking lot was full but still was not an excuse for the white Dodge to park like he did.
  7. You are the last guy in the row. How can you not give someone space Mr. Dodge Ram?
  8. What is wrong with you people on this thread??!!! Do you all suffer from IBS or a spastic colon? I understand if you get super drunk and have an accident. But some of these, well, unless you have some type of funk and how can you not feel one coming on and get to a stopping point? I will say, however, that some of these stories make me laugh. Others gross me out. So, I guess, keep it up.
  9. If, after regulation play is over, there is a tie in the game, then the cheerleaders should decide it with a Powder Puff game.
  10. Been to China numerous times and have been all over it. I have some pics somewhere of the Wall that I took in the far remote areas where all that are there are the farmers. It looks nothing like what is in your pic.
  11. Yes, the permitting is an irritant for me too. Been hiking for some time now and have gotten a lot of hikes and parks in at my leisure. Having to get a permit has removed some of my spontaneity of just deciding to hop in the truck and take off for a week or so and work remotely while getting some quality hiking and sightseeing in. During 2020 and early 2021 I was able to get a lot in before the real craziness set in.
  12. Assuming that this is in Badaling, China?
  13. My son, now 26 years old, was considered to be named Tucker by my ex. I countered that his future buddies would drop the T and replace it with an F. Ex did not care for that possibility. However, his initials still turned out to be BMF.
  14. I am sure that the pucker factor was high!
  15. Yep, close enough. Amazing to see it as she is way up there.
  16. Whoa!! I do a lot of hiking and I am usually alone. I have come across black bears before but never a big cat. Just how far away were you?
  17. Fantastic. Would have liked to hear all of it. Too funny. Sad too.
  18. The company that I originally worked for was purchased by another company in 2011 and then that company was subsequently purchased in 2017. So I have had to work with a lot of newbies to the company and to the industry in general. I am always hearing something that, while may not sound so stupid to the general public, is quite comical in context. Was recently in a production meeting with a large group unbeknownst to me there was a delivery problem. Group; We are going to be late because of A, B, C. There is no way around it and we will pay LD penalties. Me: All that you have to do is X, Y, Z. Group: That is too simple. There has to be more to it than that. Me: Nope. That is it. Group: If so, then show us. I go through the process of what to do in detail and save $400K while doing it. Group: How did you know this? Me: 32 effing years. Maybe you should ask next time. Group: (tone)
  19. People who light up a cigarette upon exiting their vehicle and then walk maybe 100 feet to the entrance to a store to only then casually flick their still burning and barely smoked cigarette onto the ground. In summary; People who litter.
  20. I have two books signed and personalized to me not by a "Pappy" but rather a "Peppy". None other than by R.E. "Peppy" Blount. A former Longhorn great among other things.
  21. Fantastic headgear! Are the liners still present? Did your father have a story associated with them? I remember that he served in the Aleutians and fought in the Bulge? Do you know the units he served in?
  22. This is an American saga and has nothing to do with the British.
  23. Yes, he (Dudley's) has curbside for call ahead orders with limited hours.
  24. Longview, TX area: From previous posts I support that: Jucy's is the go to for a burger. Bodacious on Mobberly is a must for brisket Country Tavern off of HWY 31 for ribs. T-Blancos on 322 out towards the airport for Mexican food. Pizza King on Marshall Ave. (HWY 80) for the best pizza. Additions to the list: Leon's Steakhouse Saloon for a fantastic steak and green beans. It is on S. Eastman Rd. just North of I-20. A straight up looking dive but great food and live music. Duke's Fish Shack for great catfish. It is basically next door to T-Blancos. Again, it is a not an attractive place but it has great food. Closures: Dudley's in Longview is no longer open though I think he still does a bit of catering. Neely's in Marshall closed about a year ago after 90+ years in business. Other: Nanny Goats is good but it is not my crowd.
