    Subpar Parks

What route would that be? All I remember is that there is a unpaved road coming in from the NE and a Scenic Byway on the SE side that never actually gets into the park.
  2. I just watched the new Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer comedy Thunder something. Don’t bother. Maybe one or two funny parts.
  3. Yeah, these Reagan short movies are....interesting. Watched one last night where he is in the Army rescues a horse that is a world class jumper. I am big into WW2 so I found the military stuff fun.
  4. I routinely play basketball with a guy that gets “injured” multiple times each game with theatrics that will rival any foreign soccer player. He hobbles around for a minute or two and then drives the lane with some crazy moves. One day he will get hurt but no one will pay attention because of his antics. He is a good player but the act gets old.

Arches is one of my favorites. I really enjoy hiking in the Devil’s Playground area. So many great views and rock formations.
  6. I am recording it now. Will watch after the Horn’s baseball game
  7. Yep. I work out regularly. My 14 year old doesn't do much. He can absolutely kill me going down a ski run. I have become the tortoise in the race. No longer the hare. I am still very active and do a lot of things that others my age are not doing, it just takes a while! I do a lot of hiking and such and it seems like everyone I come across on the trail are my kid’s age.
  8. I can watch a fictitious war movie but never read a fictitious book about WW2.
  9. A photo of a traffic circle in SHV complete with STOP signs. Was also in Monroe this past weekend and they have added several in the city all properly done without STOP signs.
  10. I am in the mining industry, so, well, there you go! Right there with you!

Not yet, albeit it is on the "to do" list. I am driving up to Chicago in May so I will hit some along the way up and back. I plan on driving up to Vermont (Killington) early this summer and will take some parks in. Will be driving to Chapel Hill, NC in July so will hit some parks then. Will be going to the Texas game in West Virginia so will visit some then too along the driving path. Will have to see what the balance of the year holds for hitting some other parks.

    Subpar Parks

I have a National Parks Passport so I record the date(s) that I was there along with a stamp and, per the enclosed checklist, I have been to 70+ park properties. Some are National Parks, others are Memorials, or even National Recreational Areas, etc. Some are obviously better than others and being at one for an hour is enough and for some it requires multiple days to fully enjoy or even repeat visits. Covid has allowed me to work from "home". So, in 2020 I visited Glen Canyon NRA, Grand Canyon NP, Petrified Forest NP, Pipe Spring NM, Sunset Crater Volcano NM, Tonto NM, Walnut Canyon NM, Wupatki NM, Buffalo NR, Fort Smith NHS, Pres. Clinton Birthplace, Pea Ridge NMP, Poverty Point NM, Aztec Ruins NM, Bandelier NM, Capulin Volcano NM, El Malpais NM, El Morro NM, Pecos NHP, Petroglyph NM, Mesa Verde NP, Arches NP, Bryce Canyon NP, Canyonlands NP, Zion NP, Grand Teton NP, Yellowstone NP, Abraham Lincoln NHP, Cumberland Gap NHP, Brices Cross Roads NBS, Natchez Trace NST, and Tupelo NB. Love me some National Parks and the great outdoors that many of them offer.
  13. I have to admit that I do chuckle a bit when a red neck diesel pickup guns it passing a Prius, Tesla, or some other hybrid vehicle leaving it in a plume of smoke.
  14. Didn’t Ford die in the Star Wars series of movies? Just maybe...
  15. The top two lines nail it with foreshadowing
  16. That Mercury is one sweet looking car.
  17. SIAP. Those that wait to turn right on red until there is enough clearance for them to get all the way over into the inside LH lane to make a left hand turn more than a half mile further down the road. Go ahead and turn right onto the outside lane and merge left as you drive toward the next turn.
  18. As mentioned above my dad had a 63 Chevy Pickup when I was in middle school and junior high. When I was in elementary school he had a 56 Ford Pickup. Both were his everyday drive around trucks. I certainly did not appreciate them then because they were old and out of style. Would love to have either one or both of them now. My 68 Ford is still around. I ended up giving it to my brother years ago. He repainted it, dropped a 302 in it and converted it to a floor shift and took it to the drag strip occasionally. My son (26yrs old) now wants the 68 Ford.
  19. This was my first truck too except mine was a Fleetside and was baby blue with white "wagon wheel" rims.
  20. My dad had this truck albeit green and white back in the late-70's. It was the truck that I learned to drive in the hayfield when I was around 11 or 12 hauling hay (square bales). I would love to have that truck today.
  21. Yes, McCrea was solid in everything that he did. Particularly liked him in Sullivan's Travels and in Espionage Agent. He also played Sam Houston in The First Texan.
  22. I had heard about the Gladewater deal as well. A new Bodacious is going into SHV right now too. I haven't heard yet on who will be running it though.
  23. From basically living on Bodacious and Country Tavern food, from hosting visitors and getting all of the left-overs from catered meals at the factory, sadly I have had neither in a year now. Most of the BBQ that I have had in the past year has been my own. I will have to swing by today and pick some up after my lunch basketball game.
  24. Lead, follow, or get out of my way
  25. People that drive in the left hand lane that do not speed up to pass the side-by-side semis once one passes the other. They continue to drive only slightly faster than the semi causing the build-up of cars behind them to continue to grow. Also the same type of people that continue to stay in the left hand lane on a single lane road that momentarily opens up with a passing lane. The slow car gets over in the right hand lane but the second car stays in the LH lane and slowly passes the car only to leave the rest of the pack having to fall back behind the first car as the lane plays out. Hurry up and pass so that everyone else can too.
