Good question. He played at WVU. They've had a few guest pickers this year with no connection to either school, which is just stupid.

McAfee was the holder for Veniteri while in the NFL for 10 years. Veniteri played for South Dakota State. He could not be there to do the picks because of another game so McAfee was his proxy.

That left side of the line is pretty damn good.  Wish we had Braun for more than a year (and hope Cosmi wants to come back).

Braun's motor is always running.  His father is a coach and his older brother also played and was a multi-year starter for GT so he knows what it takes.  He is downright nasty at LG and I like to believe that his intensity is contagious.

Softest big man since George Mueller.  Old guys help the young.

I guess I am an olds! I immediately knew the reference as he played (errr....on the court) towards the end of my time on the 40 Acres. He looked the part but that is where it ended.

Kinda like Neville Chamberlain trolling the Brits with his “peace in our time” schtick?

Were you sitting around and listening to that on the radio when he said that?

For example:  In most high school games that I have witnessed when a player is injured on the field all of the players take a knee.  Braun would always stand refusing to take a knee even when all of the fans were yelling at him to take a knee out of respect.

  6. I watched almost all of Braun’s games while he was a student at Hallsville. He was a nasty player then that had no regards for the feelings of the person he was blocking. He went full tilt  to the whistle and a little past.

He was a transfer in from Florida and some of the fans did not necessarily care for some of his play because he did not abide by all of the standard “rules” of the Texas high school style of play.

i like to think that his mauling style of play has been infectious to the others on the OL.

He is a pleasure to watch.

  7. I bought tickets about a month ago. I went to the game there back in 2017 and had a good time other than the fact that the weather was crappy.  The fans that i met were cordial and non-combative.

I will be there along with my daughter, SIL, and granddaughter.  They will be driving over from Durham and i will be driving up from Texas on a mini-vacation with my girlfriend. It will be my granddaughter's first public event and what better way than at a UT football game all at the ripe age of 2-1/2 months old!

Would like to meet some fellow Surly members. Maybe.....

  8. I was there from 84 to 88. My recollection is that we would take our student ID’s to Belmont and would draw tickets. I forget how many ID’s we could take to sit as a group. We would have different seats each game. The OU game was a lottery if memory serves me correctly.

The only time that you could sit in generally the same location was if you signed up to do the flash cards.

Benched. Then left the field by himself to the locker room. Derick Hunter and a staffer sprinted there and brought him back. Hunter chewed his ass out the whole way. Jeez.

Why would they need to sprint after him? Probably would not even need to yell for him to come back.
