  1. He's turned out to be a real cocksucker.
  2. They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love.
  3. Seems a rather disproportionate fraction of these young GOP racist/radicals are guinea wop dago greaseballs. I use the slur for teh lulz but also to point out that it wasn't so long ago we had a bunch of different ethnic out groups and I believe that sort of thing cometh again, and that right soon.
  4. It is true that RRS results often don't reproduce. that includes bad teams performing well and good teams performing poorly. I am gonna guess that youth in critical positions is our main ailment and while motivation may have helped, we're going to progress this season.
  5. I could look it up, but isn't "Metis" about the same as "mestizo," that is, a cross between indigenous and colonizer? Also, in case anyone hasn't noticed, miscegnation produces some remarkably attractive humans, so I say let's get on with it.
  6. Well yeah, conservatism within the context of liberal democracy. And, although my examples were monetary or fiscal in nature, it goes beyond that. It seemed to me for a good while that Rs, by comparison, were less likely to do stuff that had unintended consequences, yes, cost, but other things as well, as nice as a progressive thing might sound. And, although I approved of the "status quo," that didn't entail enshrining me or my fellow male whiteys and rich-ies, just a healthy whenever government makes a big departure, there's usually a lot of fallout kind of thing. Also, being an alcoholic and making recovery and getting reconnected with spirituality/faith/the spaghetti monster, whatever, got me to a more progressive mindset.
  7. Can't improve much on that. But more than any slogan like small government, I am just fundamentally conservative. I'm kinda cheap, I'm super-careful with my clients' money and resources and my advice to clients is conservative, although I present more extravagant options. I was never comfortable with the social/culture bullshit.
  8. And, if you start reducing the "what do we do with the morons" question and carrying the oiligarch's solution to its end, everyone ends up being a moron, a drag on the bottom line. That includes various intelligent and diligent folks that didn't choose the "right course of study," or through various life events categorized as "luck," so that the line defining "morons" starts to creep to the right of the mean and before long, it's the sub-90% and not just the sub-50%.
  9. Thanks for the reminder on this. Love things with a nautical bent. An observation on this that sort of encapsulates Larson. In recounting contemporary headlines, he threw in that a Grape Nuts ad referenced its ability to fortify youngsters for schoolyard fights, complete with an illustration of such a fight. Great shit. Maybe this one:
  10. And all the positives they attribute to Stephenson are actually negatives going by his track record at ATT.
  11. Is that a brand of hair extensions?
  12. You're the one that brought up Nancy Pelosi. Not to defend her, but you realize that unlike most Congress critters, her spouse is a professional investor. Also, point of order, those things I mentioned aren't "social issues," they are fundamental to our system of government and how it operates.
  13. And the lives of Americans are immeasurably better for it. Don't forget that three trans kids can't play sports.
  14. Don't care, that Wapo article is scurrilous. And an horrific example of the mainstream press trying to normalize one of Trump's worst abuses. PS Trump is also a Russian stooge.
  15. Speaking of #bothsides, WaPo apparently ran an op ed comparing the Comey indictment to Jack Smith's Trump indictments. Ben Wittes goes off. https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-situation--democracy-dies-in-both-sides-ism
  16. Are you "in the middle" on Trump's tariffs? Militarization of cities? Brutalization of immigrants and other browns? Open politicization of executive departments, including DOJ, complete with retaliation against civil servants? DOGE? RFK? Or is that all ok as long as stonks stonk and your taxes don't go up?
  17. I've seen several pieces that mention pretty much this exact plan was under consideration during the end of the Biden administration, but Bibi crawfished because he thought he'd get a better deal under Trump.
  18. Pretty much all "service" companies, a/c, plumbing, etc. are shit now thanks to private equity.
  19. That Charlie Kirk poster is fucking disgusting.
  20. My favorite recent fan shot was the husky Asian fella wearing an orange hard hat with his arms crossed in the middle of the aggy student section.
  21. Cunt reply. Why don't any of you cunts state a position? Do you mean Thomas Sowell, who says Trump is dangerous? https://www.lenconnect.com/story/opinion/columns/2016/04/11/thomas-sowell-why-donald-trump/31990185007/ But, I have figured it out. There was a long history of peaceful coexistence of Jews and Muslims in the Middle East before the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and the western carve-up. The carve-up led to as much or more strife between Muslims as between Muslims and Jews, and led to the rise of Islamic fundamentalism. The creation of Israel threw a match into that powder keg.
  22. I was watching the Gilded Age on PBS, highly recommended, and it noted that Andrew Carnegie, the most self-made of the robber barons, was initially quite sympathetic and empathetic to the working man. But he had a heel turn later in life.
  23. Well, add in fundamentalist Christians. It's not the Christian or Muslim part, it's the fundamentalist and the fact that all of them are under the control of at least minor demagogues. In the case of the technocrats, the demagogues are themselves. Another thing these groups do, generally, is eschew or denigrate education to insure that their followers' worldview is as constrained as possible. Yeah, you may not need a degree in CS to be a total code freak, but that degree comes with probably 12 hours of humanities (it did and I think still does at UT), plus some history, English lit, and government, and that goes a long way to keeping you from being a dangerous incel.
  24. Exactly what the founding fathers were afraid of. And sad that those rudderless, depressed youngsters don't follow the teachings of Christ and make themselves of service to others. They, and we, would be a lot better off.
  25. I've said it before, but all these internet billionaires commenced their commercial life believing the rules of "bricks and mortar" business didn't apply to them. That belief was somewhat ratified by the insane valuations that made them rich. But that wasn't just some benign little self-deception, these fuckers have completely internalized the notion that the rules, not just business rules, don't apply, shouldn't apply, and they're going to make sure of that. It's insidious and malevolent as hell.
