  1. Putting Trump aside for the moment. Stirring up crime fear among a non-involved populace and subsequent governmental over-reaction is one of the oldest political stunts in the book. The governmental overreaction almost always involves terrible and expensive policy that sacrifices civil rights and does little or nothing for public safety. Think satanic panic, Biden crime bill, Miami and cocaine, the examples are endless. People are getting suckered in the worst possible way.
  2. Some of them may be adherents to or knowledgeable of the Thiel/Andreesen unorthodoxy. The place did host Yarvin at a debate.
  3. I was really more adding on than trying to contradict. Seems like the Bob Joneses and Liberties of the world are quite a bit different and would appeal to different parents. Like, BJU parents probably wouldn't send their spawn to a den of iniquity like Austin, no matter what the school was like. But, I think it's highly likely that high-religiosity secondary schools are the only place you'd find kids and parents that desire this kind of environment..
  4. Yeah, no, it's not. The CHIPS Act provided grants, but the strings did not include giving up equity. That's a whole new thing from Mr. Transaction.
  5. Seems like it's going to be a bit more secular than that. If anything, seems like it's going to come out dominionist/common good catholic.
  6. Was quite unfamiliar. The literature list seems pretty reasonable, but hard to evaluate everything. Still, in this day and age, I distrust those that advertise their Christianity.
  7. Jesus freak from Boerne. https://www.genevaschooltx.org/corban-fikes/
  8. Bailey has a law degree. Beyond that, he's a meme-lord too. Twelve-year lawyer, all in legislative/government positions, no prosecution or investigation.
  9. As an Eagle Scout and only child, I feel I have underachieved. If only I'd followed through on Annapolis . . . .
  10. And, I think the main thing is to keep a shaped charge off the surface of the armor, and that has been an issue addressed by stand-off devices since at least WWII. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaced_armour https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slat_armor
  11. The ominous and seldom-used: Govern yourself accordingly.
  12. wineguy69 I believe.
  13. Goddamn, stop acting like a feeble old man with a newsmax/oan brain tap. DC doesn't have a crime problem overall, it has a juvenile carjacking problem. It's kind of a bizarre phenomenon. Bringing in the national guard, noted crimefighters, isn't going to do a goddamn thing except militarize the city.
  14. Meh, just like the Heritage/P2025 people, he's a useful idiot.
  15. With a rusty, dull knife.
  16. Yeah, this traveshamockery is the main and probably sole reason for the euro leaders. And it's been in the works since about 48 hours after this.
  17. Borger is where it's at.
  18. I think one complication with imessages is that they are stored in your Apple account in addition to locally on the phone and transiently at the provider. At least unless you opt out of apple account storage. Texts can also be backed up in a Google account. I disremember the defaults there.
  19. So glad I stopped drinking when a longneck was $2 most places.
  20. Wouldn't have guessed 87 already. RIP.
  21. You are correct, sir!
  22. Good move. Keep the shit funnel in check.
  23. Sooo, way back in the day of glass thermometers, rectal thermometers had red ends or knobs on the end, and oral blue (or maybe it was vice versa). A nurse in my pediatrician's office told Mom to buy rectal thermometers for oral use because they were heavier and wouldn't break as easily. On an occasion or two, the color of the thermometer, presented to a relative or friend for oral use raised a few eyebrows.
  24. Well and then the economy fails and imposes austerity on the Russian people, who will just shrug and swill some more methanol
