  1. There may have been one or two more public trials. Maybe. Maybe. And maybe that would have had some value, but it seems unlikely given the non-effect the NY convictions had on anything. And the federal trials would have relied solely on reporting, no cameras in courtroom. Turns out maybe you have more faith in that aspect of the justice system than even I do. And now we have this whole "weaponization of the justice system" notion running around, which is dangerous as fuck, even though highly fictitious. I have always said this wasn't going to happen on your timeframe. Even that was hopium on my part. It was entirely foreseeable and probable that it was going to go down this way if he was elected, even had he been indicted January 22, 2021. And, if the shoe goes onto the other foot, and people like Fauci are unjustly prosecuted in a real weaponization of the system, we're all going to be grateful for the delays inherent to due process.
  2. Shit, I had a cc change and my treefiddy status went away, I need to fix that. Anyway, for violent video games and music and such, even the most immature adolescent has a frame of reference for reality/non-reality and right/wrong. That is very much less true for sexual behavior and norms.
  3. As I have said, even assuming Trump was indicted on January 22, 2021, the earliest opportunity under existing laws and policies (and not feasible for a variety of reasons except in perhaps the state cases), we'd still be right where we are today, maybe with a couple of other non-final convictions, on appeal, and terminated because he won the election. Hoping for any other outcome, with an election win, was foolish. I admit that I was somewhat hopeful, but in retrospect, that was foolish. ETA: those with even greater understanding of the criminal justice system than I and other surl lawdogs probably more clearly recognized the difficulty/near impossibility of securing final convictions of an ex-President in a bit less than four years. That would include the AG and various DAGs making decisions.
  4. Ok. I'm interested because there's a dude that was a mountain bike "influencer" and racer that did good instructional videos with his girlfriend. https://www.ridemtb.com/ He got the vax and got some really weird symptoms including apparently myocarditis that destroyed his fitness, his ability to bike, his ability to make bike content, and his relationship. From the videos, he was a patient and kind soul. But, due to his misfortune, he became a tool or pawn of Covid nutbags. Sad story.
  5. I thought about adding a dryer in there somewhere. But seriously, I think porn and adolescent sexuality are a bad mix in ways more serious than other "bad influences."
  6. I might suppose that it is difficult to prove causation of, and in most cases, compensable injury (compensable meaning beyond sort of dignitary). And that's before you take into account Texas' med mal "reforms" that make it more difficult. An "ideal" med mal case has conduct falling below the standard of care that causes a serious and incapacitating physical injury, for a person at an age where their earning capacity is diminished or destroyed, preferably someone with an established potentially high earning capacity. And, with large lifetime care costs. Medical causation can be a sticky wicket in any case, but I'd imagine particularly so in psychiatric care, and a lot of the patients don't tend to meet the other criteria.
  7. Meh, he's so hysterical (Filipowski). They're withdrawing because Rudy is trying to get them to do shit that's unlawful or unethical or to make stupid sanctionable motions. There's really no such thing as incompetence in a civil case.
  8. Well, and sometimes they do talk to a girl, then brutally face fuck her, ass fuck her, and jizz in her face. It's all down hill from there.
  9. Why is she a bad appointment, other than she's an icky trans? She's a 30-year practicing pediatrician. She was Physician General and Secretary of Health of Pennsylvania. Among other things she accomplished in PA was getting cops to carry naloxone. You can't point to anything wrong with this Assistant Secretary of Health, except that one thing. That shows you're a bit of a fuckhead.
  10. Bad appointment or not, you don't get how Trump is going to attempt to subvert everything, even advise and consent of a majority-R Senate. If ______________ stands in his way, fuck the ______________. First thing to fill in the blank with is the Constitution.
  11. For some reason, I remember deets about Icono. As I recall, Penn and UT Law. But never a lawdog, real estate something or other, shockingly.
  12. A very large bird. Several of them. And I hope it gets in his mouth.
  13. I'm quite sure you need a Chief Patent Counsel.
  14. Recess appointments must be confirmed before the end of the next session of Congress. That's going to be a shit show. Also, the authority and limitations on recess appointments is pretty explicit:
  15. As mentioned above, I think, I'm reading the books to avoid running out of show prematurely. They're surprisingly literary. One thing that's odd about them, though, is that they signal scene changes by bold type (no chapter/subchapter numerals or anything else). I'm reading them in e-book form and that bold type for a couple of words can be easy to miss, leading to some wtf moments. And, like LeCarre, sometimes the density and the British dialect can leave you a bit confused.
  16. You voted for the piece of shit and you don't get how it's going to work, at all, do you?
  17. Wait, we like elite universities now? I thought they'd have automagically turned you into some kind of librul faget.
  18. Assuming we're talking about a 77 T/A. The 455 was no longer available. Engine choices were a Pontiac 400 that made 185 and an Olds 403 (the subsequent 6.6) that made 180. The Pontiac made 325 ft-lbs of torque, though. The Oldsmobile engines suffered mightily under emission controls, moreso for their displacement than other GM engines.
  19. Defend Matthew Fucking Gaetz as Attorney General of the United States. I double dog dare you. Besides his personal unsuitability, he has fewer than two years as a practicing lawyer. The rest as political hack.
  20. This whole concept of "appointing loyalists" is probably doomed to one degree or another. Trump's narcissism is so mercurial, I'm not sure there's much of anyone with the megalomania to want one of these positions to satisfy Trump's loyalty tests over any significant period of time. The whole thing is so "I'm gonna get mine" that I think it's unsustainable.
  21. So, two items of supposition are missing from that affidavit: whatever incriminating information Bart provided and whatever incriminating information Brad's partner in body disposal provided (although he is at least mentioned). Is it common for LE to withhold some evidence from a PC affidavit like that? Leave some ammo for a probable cause hearing or trial?
