  1. All alcohol of all types is poison. It gives you nothing, and takes away everything. Whatever cravings or other thoughts you have about drinking are caused by alcohol (not personal flaws). It also caused all of the pain and problems that you have experienced. Whenever you think drinking might help you in some way, realize it will not. I just had to give a short speech at work. It was the first time in a long time I have done that sober. I didn't do as well as the last time when I had several shots to warm up. My voice felt shaky and I don't think I came off very "cool". My wife was in the audience, and she said that I did great, just like always. I sat down feeling super shaky and disappointed in myself. I thought a drink would help smooth this out. I really wanted a drink! I pushed through and kept telling myself that the drink is poison. It will ruin my afternoon and probably tomorrow. Alcohol caused this problem and it is not going to make it better by drinking poison again. Then I remembered that I had been drinking so much up until Monday that I had chronic stomach pains, bad ones. That pushed the thought of drinking even further away.
  2. I just finished Allen Carr's audio book "The Easy Way to Control Alcohol" on Monday. I really like the message and approach. I haven't had a day without (a lot of) alcohol in years. I had my first sober day yesterday and I feel really good about the future. I'm listening to it again througout the day to help the lessons to really sink in.
  3. This isn’t at the Bullock? That’s a mistake.

There were about 30 ahead of us. They opened the doors about 40 minutes early. I’m sure the people who got there later were surprised to find no line but a packed house.
  8. I have this recurring black mold/algae problem. The chip out will get the roots out of the pebble/plaster, but I'm worried about spores in my plumbing and equipment. How do you sanitize the equipment? Also, don't fuck around on this black algae, it will give you maintenance and financial nightmares.
  9. There is a guy from Anthony & Sylvan Pools on my porch writing up a bid to refinish my pool right now. Expecting $15k. I think the scope will be : 1. Full chip-out of existing pebble finish 2. Keep the mosaic tile 3. New micro-pebble finish sanded smooth (so it doesn't snag my wife's swimsuite bottoms, that was her only request, but I said just don't wear bottoms, haha) 4. Some stone and grout repair.

I sat top row center at BB imax last night and it was great. Perfect spot. I dressed as Goose. There was a dude that wore a Maverick fighter pilot helmet and flight suit. I think he kept the helmet on through the whole movie. That's a waste, because BBimax audio is stellar.
  11. All of my window and glass guys are saying 10 weeks back order due to a glass shortage. If you can find someone that will do it now for $350, just go for it.
  12. We should probably move this to hobbies or nerdz, but look what I still have from my childhood

I have tickets to the early viewing on Tuesday at 7pm at the Imax. How early should we get there for good seats. An hour? Or more?
  15. I got this bad boy my sophomore year. 486sx2. I really wanted the dx2, but it was something like $300 more. There was a fresh Pentium on the shelf next to it that was way out of my league. My parents bought me the computer from the electronics department at Dillards. I loved that department. Sony TVs and VCRs and all the cool shit.
  16. Weekend traffic is terrible. My last trip back from Ft. Worth to RR took 6 hours. Leave as early in the morning as possible to avoid the innevitble accident backup. Also, don't stop at the Bucees in Temple. There had to be 5000 people there and all 200 pumps were full with waiting lines. The womens restroom line was to the front door.
  17. At least I’m not racin to a red light.
  18. Ginger. It was Ginger. Those punches and pistol whips must have fucking hurt, because Ginger was completely at Rust’s mercy to go wherever he led. I realize he also needed Rust to get him out of there alive. Also Rust took a baseball bat hit. All those drugs gave him the Blitzkrieg.
  19. It's a tale as old as time. Wife is backing out of the garage and scrapes the shark fin antenna thing off of her Q5, taking out the bottom garage door panel in the process. She claims that her phone fell onto the garaged door opener fob in the console, bringing it down unexpectedly. I'm skeptical as this is strike two after backing out with the tail gate up. That caused more damage to the tail gate than the garage door though.
  20. And a mouth guard. And sun glasses or safety glasses.
  21. I'm a big McConaughey fan. Mud, Killer Joe, Interstellar, and so many more. Heck, I've listened to his audio book Green Lights three times. Plus, Woody Harrelson was awesome in season 1 too.
  22. I watched this week to week on HBO when it first aired. That was a fun ride. Since then I usually re-watch season 1 twice per year. I love it.
  23. There’s not much action on that board anyways. Doesn’t seam like a problem worth solving.
