  1. When my in-laws died a few years ago, the consensus of several legit appraisers was - nobody wants brown (antiques) any more.
  2. I don't have the VSSL, but like what I have read about it. We expect to finally break ground on our post-Harvey house in the spring, and I intend to pull wire to a central spot for use of the VSSL for distributed audio. As I understand it, every zone operates independently (six different people, in six different rooms, can all stream what they want to the speakers in that room at the same time), and you can set up one "party" group to play the same stream in as many zones as you want simultaneously. It also has a couple of inputs for things like a CD player, and bus outputs such that one of your zones could be your AVR speakers. It is a bit pricey, but I am interested. Also, I have read a few forum comments suggesting that one might be able to buy one direct out the back door.
  3. We were very happy with ours - until they became shit spewing volcanos during Harvey.
  4. “VSSL uses Native Streaming to connect your speakers to the music apps that you already know and love. Native Streaming is already integrated into your phone through Airplay, Chromecast built-in, and Spotify Connect. By adding a VSSL to your system you simply play what you love to the room you want.”

    Wine

Milkman, Kelley Fox (and the wines she made for Scott Paul) have been my favorite Oregon Pinot Noir for years, but I’ve never had her Chardonnay. Tell me about it.
  6. Just burn it the fuck down. Fuck you Mensa. Next!

    Hey Jews

I'd say "same to you," but I don't think I'm supposed to be on the interweb today.
  8. At the receiver, is there one set of four color, or two. If one, I'd try red and black to one, and green and white to the other. In any event, you can't damage the speakers by playing with it until you get sound. At worst, you have reversed polarity, which, again, will not damage either speakers or amp.
  9. All I could get out of an HVAC guy is "the bigger the better." I think I will go with the Surly "get a ladder" advice.
  10. I think it is for cover. They will finish the semester and wave good-bye.
  11. The only thing that might improve this story is if it was Mond and Ausbon.
  12. I am meeting with our architect tomorrow for what is hopefully our final meeting on plans for new post-Harvey construction in SW Houston. The HVAC equipment, like the house, will be elevated 6 feet off the ground per city ordinance. Driving around my neighborhood, I see lots of condensing units on platforms so tiny that I don't see how a tech could actually move around on them. Conversely, our architect has drawn a platform that looks stupidly huge (and expensive) to me. We will have two basic single speed 16 SEER units, probably one 3 or 4 ton and one 2 ton. Can anyone who actually installs/works on HVAC give me a sense of the minimum size platform that would make you smile and not cringe when you show up to service our HVAC (2 condensers on elevated platform)?
  13. Too young. Sad. Hook 'em, Jevan.
  14. Are you fucking kidding me. Three punt reception errors in one game.
