  1. This has nothing to do with Episode IX, but I just wanted to mention that my 14-month-old son is obsessed with the first movie. We watch it (in 20 minute increments) three or four times a day. He points at the TV and breathes heavily when he wants to see Darth Vader, which is ALWAYS. I have a feeling I might see “A New Hope” about 499 more times until he’s old enough to find out about (and appreciate) “Empire” in a few years. And that is fine by me.
  2. I just had to hide a Facebook ad from A&M promoting the Arkansas game. It asked me for a reason for hiding the ad, and I really enjoyed selecting the "Irrelevant" option.
  3. Maybe Rice learned a lesson about charging $225 for lower level tickets....FOR A RICE GAME. I know they use this game to help fund their program, but c’mon.
  4. Nice job. Always happy when the SEC takes a loss.
  5. Finally got a good pair up close for Maiden in the Woodlands later this month. Can’t go to the Dallas show because I’ll be in Austin for the Okie State game, so I’m driving to Houston from Austin on Sunday for the show and then back home to Dallas. Gonna be a long day but I never miss Maiden.
  6. Just watched both seasons in about 4 days. Zabka deserves a fucking Emmy.
  7. Late hit.
  8. The "MASTER" recordings on Tidal are pretty fucking amazing.
  9. Watching this rekindled childhood memories of watching "Damn Yankees" with my grandma. Unfortunately, the movie is out of print on DVD and not available for streaming on any of the major platforms. I did find a laser disc copy at my local Half Price Books for only $3.99, but now of course I need to find an actual laser disc player. Erp!
  10. Just bought plane tix for me and the wife to go to LA in early August. Gonna see Elvis Costello & Blondie at the Greek on Monday, Dodgers-Cardinals on Tuesday, and James (!!!!)/Psychedelic Furs back at the Greek on Wednesday. I love James and they rarely come to America-- and, of course, they are coming nowhere near Texas.
  11. This album is incredible. "Moonlight Motel" is Bruce at his absolute finest. Just a perfect song.
  12. To me, the worst part was Archie drinking a BOTTLE of beer. What the fuck? And it looked like an IMPORTED brand. Archie would have a shitfit if Edith brought him a Lowenbrau. I actually enjoyed "The Jeffersons" segment. I was so happy when Marla Gibbs appeared-- and yes, they did announce a different actress in the role. Great bait and switch.
  13. The tickets have been claimed. Go Rangers!
  14. Anybody want two free tix to the Rangers-Pirates game at 1 PM on Wednesday? I bought them earlier this year during the Opening Day + 1 sale, but we ended up planning a trip to Phoenix to see the grandparents. Tix are upper deck but relatively near home plate. I can transfer via the Rangers as long as you have a ticket account. If anyone is interested, just let me know... By the way, I will be at a game that day-- Yankees-Dbacks are playing at noon. Haven't been in that stadium since 1998.
  15. I've known for a while but didn't want to say anything until it became public. Paden was a great kid from an amazing family. As someone who was diagnosed with cancer at about the same age that he was, his passing hit me extra-hard. I am so lucky to still be here. And I am so devastated for my good friends that Paden is no longer with us.
  16. My wife is a Xavier grad, and she's on her way down to Austin for the game right now. I decided to stay in Dallas and watch the baby. I had to choose between two shit shows, and I went with baby shit instead of Shaka shit. It's more enjoyable. (By the way, my wife is awesome. I think I fell in love with her when we were watching a Xavier game at a bar and she screamed "Fucking box out!!" so loud that the whole bar just stared at her.)
  17. My downstairs is filled with about 6,000 CDs and 5,000 LPs. I will NEVER part with them. All of the CDs are in my digital library, which is now over 235,000 songs. I am also (slowly) ripping the obscure vinyl to digital, but it takes forever because I am such an anal-retentive dork and I de-click that shit one pop at a time. The upside is that the vinyl rips usually sound better than CD releases. HELP ME. I NEED A MUSICAL INTERVENTION.
  18. Got my Opening Day tix in a pre-sale yesterday, Cheapest ticket was $90 for the upper deck, and that includes upper deck in the outfield. Jesus. I bought 'em because, well, opening day. And I'm taking my eight-month-old son to his first baseball game! I know that means we'll miss a ton of it, but it will be worth it. No football games 'til he's much older.
  19. 2021 is not an ideal schedule, and I happily admit that. We obviously had an opening we had to fill, and I'm betting Del Conte tried to fill it with a bigger-name team. One problem: no P5 school is gonna give us a one-off home game on one year's notice. I'm sure he tried to work something out but eventually had to settle for Louisiana. Given our future schedule opponents post-2021, I wouldn't worry about this one-off.
  20. You know, there's an actiual website for Texas athletics that contains our future football schedules. Maybe you should go take a peek. If you already have but still somehow think that playing home and homes with Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia sucks-- well, I can't really help you.
  21. Derrick Johnson and no one else is close. That's not a knock on anyone else-- it's a testament to how fucking good DJ was. You could see it from game 1 his freshman year.
  22. God thiat was so embarrassing to watch. I know they had fouls to give but JESUS...
