  1. The L100 were the consumer version of John B. Lansing’s original great design, the 4310 studio monitor. He later on he went to Pioneer to design the HPM-100. The L100 Classic are just modern reproductions of them. They are pretty well loved.
  2. It is definitely considered a “4x4 only” road, I’m just talking some shit. A body on frame 2WD truck can typically do it just fine. I have done it in 2WD a few times myself.
  3. Pfff. Black Gap is a 2WD trail. Clearance and tires are more important.
  4. It got yeeted at the moment of impact with the kerb. Crazy.
  5. FIA really needs to remove all sausage kerbs. This was today at the 6h of Monza.
  6. Hmmm. This is dumb. What are you going to do, penalize all of them?

You’re in luck since it was just (finally) officially reissued (that’s what mine above is). It was pressed at United though, so the QC sucks. Amazon has it, AS also has it in stock. https://store.acousticsounds.com/d/169635/Cake-Fashion_Nugget-180_Gram_Vinyl_Record

A few recent grabs to keep it going: ZZ Top Wordwide Texas Tour promo. I usually don’t get stuff like this, but it was apparently done from the actual master tapes and it sounds like it. Since they’re tracks from their best era, even better. A few Japanese pressings. Japanese mastering choices can be hit or miss, but anything with PJ or SMJ in the catalog number for Jazz (Prestige and Riverside titles, mostly) is really excellent, IMO. Here are a few with an Atlantic Coltrane which is also done well. I have a few Japanese Zeppelin pressings, and I can say that these very first issues with MT catalog numbers and Blue/Green Atlantic labels are actually pretty great sounding. They existed for Zep I-III, though I only own copies of II and III. I have 3 RL Zeppelin IIs, and this is just behind those, probably comparable to a George Piros cut from ‘77. The later Warner Pioneer issues got progressively worse.

Yeah, those old Duals were something else. I rehabbed a 1219 once and it was really cool to see how that thing worked underneath. Like some kinda mini-Rube Goldberg. Luckily all that one needed was a cleaning, relube, and a new steuerpimpel (what a word).
  10. Just now finding this thread. Neat. Checking in with a vintage setup for my turntable/music listening. Marantz 2245 with a really nice original WC-22 wooden case (luckily found one several years ago before they absolutely exploded in value) Technics 1200 MK2/Nagaoka MP200 (I got lucky and got the table for cheap, but it needed some work. I replaced the interconnects, disassembled the tonearm/VTA assembly to get that freed up and working, and had to massage the tonearm bearings a bit, but only have about $200 in it without the cart, and it’s been a tank) Pioneer HPM-100 (with mids from the HPM-900) Chromecast Audio for Spotify listening (wish they didn’t discontinue these, but there are rumors of a second gen, so hopefully that materializes) Nothing super special but I certainly get a lot of enjoyment from it. I’d be the coolest kid on the block in 1978! I’ll upgrade the speakers at some point. Maybe to some modern B&Ws, not sure.

Hell yes! That’s great, I’m glad you finally got everything fixed. I also finally decided to replace the speaker relay on my Marantz 2245. I can solder, though I’m not the best at it. It would’ve been easier if I had more wire to work with (so I ended up using the same wire ends), but I got the job done. No more right channel dropping or weak signal. Almost like having a new damn receiver! That shit had been bothering me for years.
  12. You can’t communicate from pitwall to driver during the formation lap at all. It was ruled that the second one wasn’t technically a formation lap, so the communication on the second lap to the start was fine. This happened at Hungary in 2020 when Haas told their drivers to come in to change tires (it had either started raining or was drying out, can’t remember which).
  13. Stroll, Russell, Ocon, Perez, Ricciardo, and Schumacher summoned for possible radio communication during the second formation lap. Oops.
  14. It took entirely too long to figure this out, and entirely too long for them to notice it in the first place. At least they got it right (or as right as it can be now) in the end. I’ll do track limit monitoring for the FIA. Just give me a big, red button.
  15. I get that it’s all a funny joke and ha ha and all that, but the situations aren’t quite comparable. Charles was overtaking Lewis in the bottom one, and the approach to the turn was totally different since they were both near the normal racing line unlike the incident from last year. Even then, the contact last year happened before they could even get TO the apex.
  16. West is really good but I miss the Vodafone chrome dome.
  17. That, and there’s literally nowhere else for him on the grid to go, bar a shock retirement from someone.
  18. The actor played it himself apparently, too.
