  1. Damn, what a recovery from Lewis today, without any SC or anything. Wonder where he’d have been without that lap 1 incident. Thanks, Kevin.
  2. Love that baby HZJ71 at the end. I think my dream cruiser would be a nice LHD HZJ73. This is perfect.
  3. Toto did confidently say they do understand the porpoising now. Sounds like it was definitely from the floor flexing. His words were “floor swinging”.
  4. To expand, it seems like they are doing different things with the two cars. Don’t know if driver preference or more of a testing thing. Russell has a higher top speed by 3-5kph over Lewis and had an incredible S1, where Lewis was great in S2. And most of S3 until the final corner onto the main straight (he probably made a mistake here since it was pretty slow). Lewis is faster in all the slower corners (1, 4, 5, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15), but George faster in the medium to higher speed ones and on all the straights. End result was just over a tenth different so I dunno. What is interesting though is both Mercs had a higher top speed than Charles on the main straight. George hit 324kph, Lewis 320, and Charles 316. Max hit 321. Hmmm.
  5. This. There’s a lot of re-understanding of the car to do, too. Setup and aero balance wise. They will get closer.
  6. Today would have been between nesting day 14-16, so I am pretty sure they fledged. Not much in the way of predators where I am, specifically.
  7. Norman of Norman’s Rare Guitars is going thru some shit. You got this shit, Norm!
  8. Well, I assume they fledged because I didn’t touch them! They better go on to live some prosperous little bird lives.

If you missed the RSD Art Pepper like me, Plaid Room still has a few as of now. https://www.plaidroomrecords.com/products/art-pepper-art-pepper-meets-the-rhythm-section-mono
  11. You certainly can do that if you want. It won’t affect or hurt anything. It is a pretty neat system, though. Also, brakes at 38k? Damn.
  12. Also, Juri Vips will be driving in FP1 for Red Bull in Checo’s car.
  13. Something that is interesting is that Dan Fallows (former RB aero chief) did leave RB last year and join AM this year. He’s only been at AM since April, though. Either way, I don’t know that AM really could have copied this thing in just a few month’s time, but the damn thing is so close it’s bewildering. That said, it still has much different front and rear wings, suspension, and a different PU, so it will be interesting to see how it goes along.
  14. Forgot that Merc has a double T tray like some of the other teams now, too. And some nicer photos of the new floor. And goddamn they are good at this copying thing.
  15. Updates! Ferrari has a re-profiled rear wing and some changes to the DRS actuator. Their floor is missing the floor stay for now, which may indicate that it’s stiffer, but otherwise seems to look the same or very similar. We may see more later. Here is the new Aston RB18. Very much Red Bull like sidepods and floor. Another new rear wing for Mercedes with an interesting “shoulder” section. New floor, with either taller tunnels or maybe a stiffer/thicker upper part (look near the sidepod attachment, it is closer to the Petronas stripe than before). Also a largely different floor edge.
  16. I need these kids to move out. I am thinking they are Carolina Wrens.
  17. There is kind of a mind game going on now with Ferrari and RB too, regarding the cost cap. It seems like Ferrari thinks that the way RB is spending that they cannot keep bringing the updates that they have been, but RB states they have a “lot” of upgrade budget left. Could get interesting. I don’t really think that Ferrari can keep pace development wise, so they will really need theirs to work, as you said. They really really need to fix their tire issues. Also a big weekend for Mercedes. Could be good, could be really bad.
  18. A baldy nearing adult plumage? Probably about 3 years old. Super cool, man.
  19. On today’s episode of obscure shitbox for sale:
  20. I will say that while Facebook sucks, the obscure cars for sale groups are pretty fun. This was on there the other day.
  21. King also makes the Carli stuff.
  22. Finally tried scanning MF on my rig. Definitely not as easy as scanning 135 slides, but it does work. I scanned each 6x7 frame (these are from my Mamiya RB67) using two overlapping shots, and stitched them in LightRoom. Depending on the crop they ended up at about 45-50mp each. I also finally busted out the macro rail I bought a month ago (didn’t need it for 135 scanning). It works well. I only have a handful of reversal film images (2 rolls), but here are a few examples. I think they turned out well. I have posted the lab scan versions of these before, so sorry that they aren’t new. I could do the same with color negative film, but I haven’t bought Negative Lab Pro yet. There’s some dust I missed cloning out (need to to a better job making sure the film stays clean next time), and some of these are kind of uninteresting, but this is a test more than anything. The goal was to be as good or better than the lab, and I think I did accomplish that. I also MUCH prefer my processing to the lab’s. It seems like the Noritsu scanners they are using leave a green cast/WB. Ekatachrome E100 | Mamiya RB67
