  1. Not to mention building cars to completely different rulesets. Unless you want to dilute F1 even more by making spec cars or having them slower and even more basic to be the same as F2 cars, the idea is a total non-starter.
  2. Well, it’s definitely Tacoma-based. It doesn’t look bad, but I do kinda prefer the proportions of the old one. This one looks like it has a higher beltline to me, but it may be the door lines throwing me off. I kinda wish the front was more unique looking instead of Tacoma-adjacent.
  3. Russell’s long runs were actually really good, but I won’t believe it until tomorrow night (same for Ferrari).
  4. Yeah, Logan is way too reactionary instead of anticipatory in his movements. Maybe he can go have success in sportscars or Indy.
  5. Maybe not (I don’t know his contract situation), but that is exactly how they lost Max in the first place, since Red Bull offered to put a 17 year old Max in a Toro Rosso (after skipping F2). They obviously know it’s a risk.
  6. But, outside of that, it is very early and the kid is 17 and skipped F3 entirely. It is not unlike measuring hockey or baseball prospects in their league with relative age factored in. The kid could be a Connor Bedard or a Mike Trout, or he could be one of hundreds of prospects that don’t live up to their hype. We will just have to wait and see.
  7. They don’t want to lose him like they did Max. So even if it doesn’t work out, it sounds like it may be something they are willing to risk.
  8. Shit, there is already a rumor that Antonelli may replace him starting in Monza (Antonelli turns 18 the week before that, and that is the age for acquiring a Super License now).
  9. Jay’s in Abilene. Was really damn good. It was Jay’s birthday celebration with live music and stuff though (which I was not aware of), so it made the wait pretty long (almost 2.5 hours). But, at least it was tasty.
  10. Merc already offered Newey a large sum of money last year and he already turned them down.
  11. Looks like this stuff might go back a ways. I had not seen these before.
  12. Going to quote myself I guess since it keeps coming up. It’s all in the telemetry. Last year at AD, Alonso only lifted very early in front of Lewis, he didn’t slow (and downshift) then accelerate and upshift then slow again. The multiple instances of slow fast slow is a very important distinction. Backing up the pack by driving generally slowly is also not the same. The stewards explain all of this pretty clearly in the decision document. It was erratic while also deemed potentially dangerous. Max of course should have gotten waaay more than 10 seconds. Penalties are supposed to finally be harsher this year, though.
  13. Maybe Bottas just has some sort of voodoo wheelnut nurse that he brought over from Mercedes.
  14. The problem is that he slowed, then accelerated, and then slowed again (because he messed up and did it too early). If he had only slowed once, even if way early (which would just have been a lift and coast), they wouldn’t have given him anything.
  15. Yeah, he didn’t mention it to the stewards or in his post race IG post, so he knew what he did. He obviously didn’t intend for Russell to crash, but he does like to push the rules to their limits and sometimes things happen when you operate in that area. Also note that the penalties are harsher now than they would have been even just last year.
  16. Exactly my thought. I’d buy the W11 instantly.
  17. FYI, MotoGP has good coverage in the US again. Race is starting in 2 minutes on TruTV or in the MAX app.
  18. Well, at least Red Bull is about to fall apart internally.
  19. I’ve got: RBR Ferrari/Merc (I think this will be close again) Aston McLaren (for now) I think McLaren might be late on their aero package and will improve after that.
  20. I put together a few then/now comparisons, as well. Then photos from late 50s/early 60s, now photos taken by me in 2016-2021 ish range.
  21. Here’s a cool set of slides I found on eBay a while back that I finally got around to processing. These are Kodachrome slides (I believe, don’t have them in front of me now) during the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam, in Page, Arizona, in the late 50s or early 60s (it was built from 1956-1966). I would of course much rather still have Glen Canyon than Lake Powell, but the sheer size of the operation is incredible.
  22. And the premium package includes the moonroof anyway. So really only 2ish options.
